Tried to have sleeves shortened on a jacket. It was returned 6 WEEKS later after multiple visits to both stores trying to find it. The lining is hanging longer than the sleeve, and it needed pressing. Finally picked it up again and there's a vertical crease ironed into one sleeve and the lining is still longer on the other sleeve. This was $35.00 plus $8.20 for dry cleaning which it didn't need as it was brand new. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

I will NOT bring another thing to this Cleaners ever again! I took a King size lite quilt bed spread to have cleaned just a little while ago and thought the $30 bill to pick that up was a bit excessive, but paid my bill and left. A week or so ago, we dropped 4 drape panels off, nothing fancy, straight hanging for cleaning. We just pick them up and they presented us with a $75.48 receipt. I about passed out and will NEVER go back, nor recommend them to anyone! Done!!You do not have a rating low enough for me to rate them. Never again. I have a suede jacket that I cherish and have always been hesitant on taking it to a dry cleaner. Dropped it off on a Friday and was told it would be ready on Tuesday. After 3 trips back to pick up my jacket, it couldn't be located, was drying, and just wasn't back for unknown reason. I was told I would get a call or text when they did have it, and that never happened. 2 weeks after the fact, I get my jacket and they still charged me the full price. Dropped them off Sept 21 & was TOLD they would be ready Oct 2. I went there at 11am,Oct 2 & was TOLD to come back AFTER 5PM. I AM LIVID ! Cowell Cleaners - Laundry Services Near Me - New Bern, North Carolina

This review is for the Hatem's Shoes side of Cowell's cleaners. I'm reviewing it here, because they do not have a separate area to review their services. I dropped my husband's Scottish Ghillie brogues off, because the metal taps were broken. I even took them out of the box and showed them to the person who helped me, and said that they were METAL Taps that needed replaced. Attached are the pictures of the shoes. Which I picked up today August 6th. They took off the broken metal Taps and then nailed some RUBBER guard over the top, leaving a HUGE GAP where the old tap was. And one guard that they nailed on they didn't even put on flat, it has a big bow in it! If these people are cobblers, and the operative word being if, I can't believe that they've never seen shoes like this before, they are worn by every bagpiper who plays in a pipe band from here to around the world. I did not receive a phone call from anyone to ask me any questions. Or to tell me that they did not have metal Taps, but that they would have to order them, or that they could not repair them the way they needed to be repaired. My husband can order a pair of metal Taps to replace the ones that broke for $10 online. The whole reason I took them to Hatems was so that I could get the Taps replaced, and that they could get a really good cleaning and polishing. If you're wondering why I did not take them back and ask them to fix them correctly, anybody that would box this mess up and send them back to me in this condition certainly didn't know how to repair them, would not want to hear that they did not do a good job. They knew they did not do a good job and they sent them to me like this anyway. And then had to gall to charge me $35 for it. Unbelievable. read more

Very unreliable business!! Pants were inspected by employee before going to be dry cleaned, when I got them back two pairs of them were burnt. Employee says right in front of me that they were not that way before they left. He calls the main office to find out how to pay me and he was told that's normal ware and that they would not reimburse me for the damaged pants. Will NEVER use them again. I was desperate today when I found out I needed to wear the service Charlie uniform tomorrow after only being promoted on the 1st and everywhere in the area being swamped with the Ball items. I called them at noon, brought my shirt in as well as a skirt and by 6pm new chevrons were on and both items dry cleaned. The staff was extremely friendly and personable and not the least bit rude even though my poor planning had them rushing to help me. I will be bringing ALL my uniforms and dry cleaning to them now. read more

They ruined a formal gown, lost a pair of dress pants and their attitude is they could care less. They are all about a dollar. Recommend the 1.99 cleaner or lady outside of main gate at Cherry Point. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. First time they messed up a formal gown and only reimbursed me the clean fee. Next mess up was giving back the wrong dress blue pants. Never reimbursed us. Meeting after meeting with owner that he failed to show. Excuse after excuse. Only take items to this cleaner if you don't care about your clothes. And the shoe repair...took them a pair of high heels boots once. I ended up going and buying the tip and replacing it myself. Gloria seems to be she's always right and the company doesn't except responsibility for anything. If you'd like other bad stories of lost Military Uniforms go on Facebook on the local yard sale groups...all the time. There is the 1.99 cleaner in New Bern that's great and across street from Main Gate in Havelock at Perla's. That lady is amazing on cleaning and alterations. Cowell's wanted 300.00 to clean and package a wedding gown, got it done for 45.00 with Perla's in Havelock by Main Gate. read more

The owner, Gloria Cowell failed to refund me for a botched patch job on my wool pants. Then she lost my pants and refused to replace them or pay for a partial replacement. After she lost my pants, Gloria stopped taking my phone calls after we spoke several times and she was well aware of the problem. I attempted to contact her then 7 times with no answers or replies to my voicemails. She is both dishonest and lazy in her business practices. I was strung along by her from Jan 2018 to the End of May 2018 before I gave up on her fixing this. I also called other Cowell locations looking for my lost pants. Beware of Cowell Cleaners! They will let you down! read more

Very unpleasant experience with this place. I was supposed to have my uniforms ready by Wednesday. Wednesday evening there was a big storm and it closed the bases. On Saturday I called several times with no answer and drove an hour from Camp Lejeune to pick up my uniforms. When I got there they said that they did not have them ready because of the storm even though they were supposed to be done prior to the storm. They also did not have my name tapes. After several minutes of going back and forth between the PX and the cleaners I asked them to work it out between each other. The PX never got my name tapes to the cleaners and the cleaners neglected to call me to let me know that they would not be ready in time. When I asked them to have the name tapes made for me they couldn't because that person wasn't in today. I Had entrusted my uniforms with them so that I would have them in time for me to go to my course and it was a very unprofessional and unpleasant experience. I had to take them out in town to get same day name tapes made and sewn so that I could depart for my course with all my proper uniforms. read more
