Dan is a creative, caring, and communicative business owner. His team, led by Seth, was an absolute pleasure to work with - they did a truly fantastic job and were so nice and helpful throughout. After they were done, we had a small issue with drainage (because right after they laid down the patio, there were torrential downpours for days, not allowing our pavers to settle). I'm not kidding when I say within five minutes of emailing Dan on a Friday evening to let him know, he called us to say he and Seth were coming over right away to take a look. Because of continued bad weather, they had to come back a few times over the next few weeks to make sure everything was good. Yes, they made our patio a little slice of heaven, but we were actually the most impressed with their post-project attentiveness and customer-focused desire to make everything right. I was getting tired of my house looking drab and my landscaping being the cause. A neighbor of…read moremine switched to Pat Calabrese Landscaping and I liked what I saw, so I gave Alex a call. We made an appointment for him to come out to our house in Wynnewood and look and give me some ideas with an estimate. It may not mean much to some, but he showed up exactly on time! Yes, on time, without a 2 hour window that many companies subject us to. In fact I saw him sitting in his truck out front for a few minutes before he rang the bell. He looked around the house and took copious notes. When he returned he showed me a number of ideas that could really make a difference. My wife and I had some specific ideas as to colors and locations of flowering plants and Alex incorporated them into his plan. He put down stone as a border in a number of places, planted a number of Azaleas and Rhododendrons, he suggested a Crepe Myrtle surrounded by 5 beautiful little accent flowering plants. We had a bit of drainage location problem and he was able to suggest a drainage system that his men implemented making a much more attractive and efficient system. He also included Spring Clean Up and mulching in his plan. He gave us an ala carte proposal that we could pick and choose from. His pricing was very reasonable and his execution of his plan was completed in one day. His men are knowledgable and good technicians and they clean up everything when they are done. I have no hesitation recommending Pat Calabrese & Sons Landscaping with 5 stars out of 5. Alex and his men were a pleasure to work with and I couldn't be happier with the work they did!! I get a new pleasure when I drive up to the house or walk around my back yard. I would give them 6 if I could.

Within a month of the installation of the plants they began dying off. Initially Patkin's manager said that I had been doing a good job of watering the plants but once i asked for free replacement of the plants which died they said that they do not guarantee their plants (even for 30 days) and that I would have to pay for replacement plants (at their marked up price). It is going to cost me hundreds of dollars to replace the plants which died. This company does care about customer satisfaction ! Five stars for Santos Tree Services! Over the past 25 years, I've had several arborists come to…read moretrim or even remove a tree. But recently, I'm hearing from the 'big tree' companies, "Sorry, we don't service Center City anymore". So thank God for small businesses like Santos! He responded to my text within hours, came and looked at the tree the next day, and gave me an estimate on the spot. Based on past experience, I really was expecting the estimate to be twice what he offered (which I would have regrettably declined). But I feel his price was fair and reasonable, especially for today's predatory pricing climate. In our brief interaction, I found him to be a model of what the old fashioned 'small business' owner is supposed to be: responsive, professional, experienced, grateful for your business, and dedicated to delivering what you need. Estimate accepted on the spot, Santos showed up three days later as we arranged. It was just himself and a young helper with a pickup truck living the American Dream with not even a ladder on the truck. I thought, "Oh no, did I make a terrible mistake?" But no mistake! Like a professional mountain climber with ropes and pulleys, he scaled the tree while making it look effortless. My yard in Queen Village is close quarters, full of smaller trees and planted pots and a pergola, close to the neighbor's house and power lines. Regardless, within a few hours they extracted several LARGE branches (plus LOTS of smaller ones) and lowered them with ropes and pulleys in a very controlled manner. Only one tiny little branch from the top of a nearby Japanese maple was snapped off. Over all, a miracle! Thanks, Santos Tree Services!
