I have to say that this place is quite a big place and wasn't very packed but it was a Sunday afternoon and while I'm on vacation other people still had to get ready for work the next day so I didn't expect it to be packed and it is still considered winter up here as well. The service here was very good. We ordered food and drinks, I ordered the Local Whitefish Entree with a side of Onion Rings. I ordered the fish grilled instead of fried and the wife ordered it Fried. The onion rings were very fresh and crispy, very delicious! The fish was VERY fishy, I get that it is fish but I feel like it was freshly caught and then put on a plate. It was good but a little too much of a fish taste for me now the wife's Fried fish was ALOT better, the batter was very crispy and delicious! Next time I will try it fried. read more

Amazing Captain's Choice! Everything was perfect. Steak perfectly cooked, seasoned just right, I like eggs over hard--done just right! Flavorful hash browns, crispy but not overcooked. We go here every year we visit the Soo and it has gotten better as the years have gone on! The newer owners have really improved this place and we visited multiple times this year. We tried the breakfast for the first time this year and we all loved our food. The apple cinnamon French toast was to die for! We tried a couple different skillets which were all good, too. Definitely go on a Sunday morning to have breakfast-you won't regret it! read more

We had heard some mixed reviews on the food and the service, so we had been curious but reluctant to try. When out celebrating our 7 year anniversary, we opted to stop in to finally give it a go! Great service and ambiance comparable to other small businesses in the UP, we were happy from the get go. We both ordered burgers and agreed that while they were greasy, they were done right (and he's so picky with burgers)! We had a few drinks before we ended up getting engaged immediately after. Great views of the waterway with ship shots on a regular basis. Lots of parking. New management, new look, great food, and staff that are happy and make Cozy Corner a must visit when you're in town. A gem of a place that you wouldn't expect to find so far off the beaten path. A full parking lot on a Tuesday held promise. The owners take pride in their restaurant--from the atmosphere, to the food, and the service. We sat out on the patio on a perfect August evening with a beautiful view of the St. Mary's River just above the rock cut where you cant watch down-bound freighters passing by (none on our visit, but did catch the glimpse of an upbound freighter as is cleared Neebish Island to the north). I'd never consider ordering pizza from a restaurant not dedicated to pizza or Italian but after witnessing a pizza being delivered to a nearby table, we were suddenly game. This hand-tossed pizza is the quality you'd find in a pizza parlor (could've been baked for another couple of minutes, but may be my personal preference). Philly cheesesteak sandwich was huge and satisfactory. Breaded wings weren't anything special, but were perfectly fried and juicy. French fries were battered which isn't my thing, but serviceable. "Jumbo perch" was good. Everybody in our party was happy that our experience made the 45 minute drive to get here worth it. Now to time our next visit to the freighter schedule. read more

We stopped in for dinner yesterday. Quick seating and service! Lobster bisque was very good. I had a cheeseburger which was quite large and very good, the fries were excellent. Wife had the BLT which was on Texas toast and was the largest BLT we've ever seen! She was very happy with it. We would definitely stop again. Very nice location on the water. I enjoyed the view of the water while we sat and ate lunch. We were a group of 8 and they had no problem accomodating us, the establishment is definitely big enough. There was sanititzer but the staff didnt' have a mask, but it wasn't very busy in there either. There seemed to be one person running the show in the dining room. We had pizzas, and fried pickles, and other yummies. The food was great, greasy, but great. The place is nice and bright and has plentiful parking. Great place to walk around too. read more

I had a super great time here. The waitress was very polite and knew what she was doing. The atmosphere was warm and very clean, with a sense of a rustic feel. The menu was pretty extensive and had plenty of choices. I ended up getting a beef sandwich, and it was really good, and was a reasonable price. The only reason I didn't give it a 1 is because the food is pretty good. The main gripe that I have is that I don't need a business shoving their political views in my face. Looking for a good place to eat in the U.P. is sometimes not an easy task. Remembering that we had gone to a "Duck's Unlimited" dinner quite a few years ago at a wonderful restaurant in Barbeau. Let's see if it's still there, and lo and behold, Cozy Corners saves us. Right on the St. Mary's river is the best restaurant in the area. We were fortunate to be there on a nice day and able to eat outside on the deck. Austin, our waiter, was wonderful and the service couldn't have been better. While we were there, we did not see a freighter go down or up the river, however, 2 seaplanes stopped by to enjoy their dinner. How fun! Now the food...exceptional! The dishes we had, were the perch basket...3 large filets, nicely, lightly breaded, served with hand-cut French fries. Another dish was the beef pastie...loaded with carrots, onion, rutabaga, which was the length of a plate, with gravy on the side...flaky pastry. Next was the patty melt, onions, cheese, hamburger on rye. The only downfall was not having a choice of "doneness" on the burger, but still delicious. Also served with hand cut fries. Last the fish taco's....2 large tacos, each with a perch fillet, pico de gallo, purple cabbage and a yummy taco sauce. We did start this foodfest with the "bloomin onion"...what's not to love! Location is awesome with a fabulous view of the St Mary's. We were at Soo locks earlier and saw a freighter go through. Saw the same freighter go by Cozy's during dinner! Decor is outdoorsy with wildlife trophies displayed all over. Food portions were generous. Food was ok- bar food. read more

I've been living in the eastern U.P. for 3 years now and only just now "discovered" this place when we were looking for a place to view boat traffic through the rock cut. The setting is great and the building is far nicer than others in the area - an unexpected surprise considering it's remote location in an even more remote area of the state. We stopped in for a late lunch and came away well fed. I need to, and will, go back for a full dinner but our lunch made for a worthwhile stop. I only wish we'd brought some help then I could have tackled the bacon burger with a full pound of bacon or one of other burgers with 1/2 pound of meat. Good beer selection too. read more

Had to wait an hour and a half to get our food. So we sat there and watched two other groups of customers who came in after us and get served before us. Then after we got our food, they messed up three of our orders, forgot 2 orders of onion rings, and served very raw hamburgers to us. Very poor staff, it wasn't that busy and yet they never came to ask how the food was or if we needed refills. We had to flag them down every time. We enjoy going to Cozy Corner....usually. We normally go in a large group of friends we camp with at the Soo Locks Campground every year because it is more fun. I don't understand why they don't put "well seasoned" wait staff on large orders. Last night, Labor Day (2 Sep 19) we had a group of 17, and they knew we were coming. The waitress acted like it was her first day. She didn't know if they had any wheat beer: she had to go ask. Since they didn't have any she ASSUMED I didn't want any beer and proceeded to try and take the dinner orders and never came back to let me know. She didn't know what beer they had on tap, she had to go ask. After the drink order failure my husband went straight up to the bar and ordered something for me. The bartender was more than happy to make one because she wasn't busy at all. The waitress struck an attitude while walking away from me and some wanted to get up and leave. They had run out of the beer I wanted and the fish that a few at the table wanted. She messed up an order for a burrito and brought out a pasty (I'm sure that didn't go well in the kitchen since they are home made by a woman that brings them in for the restaurant). Our friend got her dinner right around the time when the rest of us were finishing ours, needless to say, she wasn't happy. When it was time for the bill one of us asked if they gave a senior discount.....the waitress had to go ask. Now don't get me wrong, I was a training manager in the Air Force and I am very patient when folks are learning the job. I'm not putting all of this on her. The manager never should have given her our table alone if she is new. But if she's been there for a while then she needs to be reprimanded, retrained, or...... We have had some wonderful service at Cozy Corner, but this night was NOT one of those times. read more
