It's not usually very busy, unless there is a big movie opening. There's not much going on in the surrounding mall, but who doesn't love a movie date? I recently went here with my family and young niece to see Despicable Me 2 and we had a wonderful time. The theatre was very clean and we had a comfortable time. My niece left her purse in the theatre and we quickly found it with no trouble getting back in. Such is a perk of a town like FF. I have fond memories of hanging out here in middle school and high school and hope it's still used for that. :] Support this movie theatre, Fergus Falls-ians!

For nostalgia-sake, and to give our children the experience, we recently visited The Long Drive-In in Long Prairie, and boy was it fun! Families gather there a couple hours before the film. The grassy area in front of the screen was completely filled with families and children playing catch, tag, and just having fun. It was very family-friendly. Vans and vehicles would back in with their hatchbacks open, lay the seats down, and kids would lay down in the back of the vehicles and watch the film, while others sat outside in lawn chairs. This family-run operation is well worth supporting just to keep it going. It's a great summer activity with your family, and will give your children a truly unique experience. The concession stand remains open all night, during each double feature. The cost is less than you pay at most movie theaters. On a beautiful night, it doesn't get much better than this. I highly recommend The Long.

Best of all, the seats are modern cushioned recliners. So comfy! You can order tickets in advance online but of course that comes with an online fee too. $5.50 for Tuesday night showings is a steal! All movies, all day, with an additional charge for 3D movies. Also on Tuesdays, get a free 44oz popcorn with the purchase of any drink! Caught a Tuesday evening showing of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse which I would say had the theater more than half full. They were also showing Little Mermaid, Transformers, and Guardians of the Galaxy, and had ads for Elemental. No complaints at all with the movie projection/sound, cleanliness of the place, etc. Must be summer vacation and was also a good way to escape the Canadian wildfire smoke that week.
