There was about 200 people watching the Pig races. Gary the owner usually wears à flag shirt and cowboy hat and skips around tossing beads. There are hundreds of beads so people usually can catch some during the show. The pigs are small and there are 4 that race around à track. There are hula hoop and crazy contests between races. Its cheesy and rednecky but you can drink beer and people watch. 4/5 due to not enough bathrooms and slow inefficient service at back bar.

We got a "fun pass" which provided plenty of activities for the whole crew on a cloudy, rainy morning. The go carts were by far the universal favorite ("Awesome! It was nice that adults could drive their own car, plus kids who met a height requirement, and younger/smaller kids could ride as a passenger, so everyone was happy. The bumper car arena is incredibly small. It was included in our pass so we gave it a whirl, but I wouldn't pay money for this individually. The mini golf was engaging enough to pass time and wait for the clouds to clear to get back on the lake, plus everyone could play from the toddler up to the grandparents. Region one: Karts- this is the main region of Kart Kountry and the best by far. Although the strong gasoline smell was a bit worrisome, the karts were so dang fun! Just don't smoke or light fireworks in kart kountry or you will destroy the entire race of kart kountrians. Region 2 - mini-golf. Clearly the most neglected region of kart kountry. Random pars assigned to each hole - one was a par 6 and one was a par 2 and the only difference was the placement of the styrofoam rock in the 60-year old astroturf. Mini-golf region has seen better days. Region 3 - other stuff. Some weird basketball trampoline, an empty pool, a virtual reality pod that may or may not make you throw up, batting cages, and some other jumpy thing. Basically another collection of neglected attractions. Lower your expectations and then lower them one inch more and you will love it here!

Brainerd International Raceway, Indian Motorcycle's home turf, was a flurry of activity for King of…read morethe Baggers as always. Motorcycle races started early and ran throughout the day for the event, and everyone loved listening to them roar as they zipped by and watching them turn corners so low to the ground that kneepads were literally skidding on the asphalt. I was there as a Harley Davidson representative. The HD footprint is located towards the back of the raceway, so it was fun seeing which brands had turned out for the event and watching everyone set up for the day every morning as we walked pass. It's an outdoor space, so expect food trucks and portapotties. From what others on the HD team commented, food offerings were meh. Pack or buy a lunch to bring if inclined. If you are there early as part of a big event as opposed to a guest for said event, the portapotty hand sanitizer dispensers *may* not be filled yet, so maybe bring some alongside that lunch. Just saying. The raceway entrance is located beside VP Racing Fuels gas station. Massive trucks covered that entrance on my way in, so I completely missed the entrance and turned into said gas station for directions before dancing around the multiple unloading trucks to get to the raceway entrance. The attendants at the entrance were lovely and helpful in getting my credentials. Heads up: The gas station doesn't have a restroom either, just another portapotty. Local gas prices were such a nice reprieve given the spikes in metro areas. If you happen to be staying a half-hour north of the raceway, gas prices drop even further, and there's a little motel up there I'd highly recommend as well.

I'm truly sorry about the low rating, but I'm so pissed off after stopping at the winery today…read more Even though there was no event on the back patio, the owners had decided that the patio would be closed because it was "too hot and the air quality wasn't too good." We've been stopping at Dennis Drummond for years (in the summer only) and never had this problem in the past, although once we were told that they didn't want the staff going out to wait on us on the patio (no problem, since we grabbed our wine, glasses, and pretzels inside, paid for everything, and we didn't need anyone to wait on us). First, today's air quality was better than it has been earlier in the week (wildfires in Canada caused very smoky conditions for the previous two days). Second, we noticed two people sitting at a table outside in FRONT of the establishment--was the heat and air quality any better in front than in back? Third, in Minnesota, many of us LIVE for warm weather when we don't have to wear coats, boots, hats, etc. Fourth, this is a resort area, and we don't know of any other establishments with outdoor seating that won't allow patrons to sit outdoors, a fact we proved when we stopped at two other places after our disappointing stop at Dennis Drummond. Fifth, this place has NEVER been very busy when we've stopped there--can they really afford to turn away local business, or do they rely on people renting the place for events like weddings? For those of you familiar with the Brainerd Lakes area, can you imagine Ernie's, Zorbaz (both on Gull Lake), or Moonlight Bay (on Crosslake) refusing to allow guests to sit outdoors in the summer? That would NEVER happen. We had a gift certificate we were going to use, but now I don't know when we would ever use it. I'm still so mad I could spit.
