I wrote a review here but seems Mitch / CPA Miami was able to remove it somehow. This is the first time I write a review and hopefully the last time I come across a person / company similar to Mitch Helfer / CPA Miami. The only reason I write this review is to warn / prevent others from getting cheated. I got advice that proved to be incorrect and costly. The entire bookkeeping / fiscal filing was full of errors, I finally had to hire another company to complete despite I had Paid Mitch Helfer a higher than standard market price for his services. The most horrible advice I got was to open a bank account in New York. I'm a Swedish citizen that had an American company registered in Florida at that time. Since I was travelling a lot during that period and needed to open a bank account in US I asked Mitch if I could visit New York to open a bank account and he had apparently lots of contacts there that he advised and assured me in writing by email that it's no problem that I visit New York to open a bank account. Since it was urgent and I wanted to be sure I even called him to ensure that everything was ok and he even placed me on hold while he double checked that indeed it's possible. I took (paid for) his advice and booked first flight I could find. Once in NY I visit several banks that all turned me down since I'm not an American citizen and my company was registered in Florida. I was told I needed a "letter of intent" from my CPA that I was not doing business in NY. Mitch Helfer refused to provide such a letter and refused to help me other than stating that the "regulations must have changed" since he checked last time. I had to fly back to Sweden empty handed since my return ticket was already scheduled and I had other urgent matters to take care of. I finally got a bank account but had to visit Florida. Mitch Helfer is a strange shady character that try sell you services you do not need by trying to intimidate you and remind you of consequences. I worked with Mitch Helfer/ CPA Miami during 2011 (5 years ago) I have worked with lots of professionals / companies since but never worked with such a dishonest person and I hope I never have to. read more

I have been working with Mitch and the CPA Miami Team since 2003 which speaks for itself. Mitch is knowledgeable, reliable and always takes the time for me when needed. Since I started a business with my family in Germany a couple of years back, Mitch and his team have also taken over the international side of tax declarations and he convinced me with his knowledge when it comes to DTAs etc. He listens and comes up with own ideas and this pro-activeness is appreciated (since I am obviously not the expert and just want to do things right). Mitch is always readily available. What more could you ask for from your accountant? Many other firms you'd probably go through many voice mails before getting a call back on a concerning matter.
