What a charming, lovely boutique gift store…read more As I walk up to the storefront while being in town for the Keeneland Spring Meet, I know this retail gem is going to be special. The large white ceramic horse and lovely bright flowers strewn across the front door are an instant giveaway to what is inside, not to mention one hell of a welcome to Ada & Lo. I am instantly reminded of the sit com "Designing Women" pretty much instantly. From the owners (what a nice couple!) and the staff and friends in the store, I am instantly made to feel like family through friendly conversation and laughter, suggestions on new product and a non-pressuring ease to walk throughout the store. This store is loaded with cute things to by for self or others....or self....or self. Earrings with big glitz that I can wear them in Vegas. Derby/horse themed housewares and hats. Functional handbags/clutches. KU items. Pet gifts. Childrens items. And not just lots of things to buy for self or others....or self....or self..... the store is large, well lit, well laid out and easy to navigate around. On the day of my visit, I walked out with two pairs of earrings and a small clear round bag with a black/white patterned strap that I am absolutely planning on bringing to Raiders Games in Vegas because it is stadium compliant, not to mention simply darling. They deliver locally, but I wanted to hand deliver it to my niece in the hospital. I also bought myself a t-shirt. Win-win! They have beautiful wind chimes & blankets with phrases on them. They have candles and sprays that fill the place. Then you will be greeted by a friendly face immediately as well. They are so nice and helpful here. They will help you find or make exactly what you are looking for. I find this place to be perfect for a great country wreath to throw up on the front door or give to a friend as a gift. This store is not like any other, it's not overwhelming with selections. They have just the right amount of color choices and pieces. They have mugs hanging on the wall as soon as you walk in 2/$30. This was my favorite spot. They are all unique in their own way. Various colors, styles and sizes. This is also the home of the "This might be Bourbon" logo on their mugs. They have a nice little selection of Kentucky mugs. T-shirt's and also sale some hand carved wooden pieces from a gentleman out of Berea. If you're interested in making your own or learning they also offer classes. This is definitely a place we will return to for our home and gifts.

The owners Carvel and Ashley have been traveling around Kentucky to different festivals until now. They have an official store front. They have the greatest style and personality in their work. They have a signature color and flare to their pottery. It's more than just functional, it is art. This store is a tribute to their hard work and success. Here you can find anything from gift tags, Christmas ornaments, coffee mugs, bowls, plates, just to name a few. If you can mold it and skulpt it out of clay, you can find it here. They also sell logo wear and the growing popular beard oils and soaps. Impressive. Stop in and see what they have. What I like about the store is both the display and the quality of the goods. No mass-produced, made in China disposable crap here. The emphas is on quality linens, writing paper, gifts, and china, and artwork M-L has a wedding registry, carries antiques, and there is a great selection of local art. This is a great place to get a gift for a female friend, a wife, a mother, a daughter, but there is cool stuff for men here, too. The owner is preservation-minded which makes me like her all the more, and the gift wrap is unique. You'll have no problem finding the store next to the Sayre School. There are always textiles hanging from the line in front to signal that M-L is open. This is the kind of store Lexington deserves. If only M-L had a small place to eat or have a drink, I think more people would come to this Lexington gem.
