This is not a brewery, but they have a solid selection of beers on draft, mostly from breweries in Western North Carolina. We had a great flight of porters and stouts for a little over half what we typically pay for a flight in Asheville. All of the beers were really good. We had heard that this place is known for its flatbreads and we love a good flatbread. The one we had here was more than good: it was excellent. The bread dough makes a huge difference in a flatbread. Theirs was sturdy enough to hold all the toppings and not let them soak in too much, and it had a nice crispiness to it. The toppings included goat cheese, basil, onions, banana peppers and a great balsamic vinegar. Instead of ordering two flatbreads to share, we ordered a side of their parmesan truffle potato wedges. I was a little skeptical because in the past when I've had fries with truffle oil, there was too much of it and the taste was overwhelming. Here they found the magic amount. You get the umami taste but it adds to the potato and parmesan flavors instead of covering them up. The wedges were crispy and browned on the outside, but still nice and soft inside. So my recommendation is this: go on a nice hike at Valdese Lakeside Park or visit the neighboring historic mill and waterfalls. Then come here for lunch!
