Great atmosphere, service and food. Limited menu, but every item was excellent... will return often.

So we decided that we were going to give it a try. After looking at a menu and being approached by the host who gave us a brief introduction to the menu we were in for sure. We asked to sit indoors with it being a windy and somewhat humid day. They have plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas. We were informed later by our excellent server, Ashlee that there is also seating upstairs! We forgot to take a tour! The decor is very chic, but not overly done. We were seated at a table, but booths are available as well. Even the women's restroom with chic. It needed to be picked up a bit but was nice. Our server Ashlee was excellent! Her upbeat personality and friendliness was in the 10 rating! For only being at the restaurant a couple of weeks I think her vibes will keep bringing customers back. But not only her vibes, the food is very good too! My friends were very happy with their main meal, me as well! I had the Chicken Panini and the companion (side dish) I selected was the Pan Fried Corn. Both very good! We did order shareables too! The Southwest egg rolls and the Charcuterie Board. We were very happy with both! I would definitely order them again. I ordered two alcoholic drinks. My first drink was called the Bees Knees (ginger, honey, lemon bourbon) and an Espresso Martini. Both were good. The ginger was very mild in the Bees Knees. We were quite full so we were not able to enjoy our desserts at the restaurant but did order them to go. We ordered the Crème Brûlée and Key Lime Cheesecakes to go. I enjoyed the Key Lime, a good balance of sweet and tart. A little perfumme for me but still good. The feedback on the Crème Brûlée, was ok. I didn't try it. When I visit this area again, I would surely come back here and try some other items on the menu. Parking in this area can be quite busy, especially on the weekends. We came during the weekday in July after 1pm. We had to circle a few times before we got a parking spot. Come early!

Who possibly wants to eat deep fried breaded grits? We ordered some apps and I forget what my wife and SIL order, but the overall opinion was just OK. No one wanted to return. Plus... the inside restaurant smelled like something died in there. We ate outside, as eating inside was impossible due to the smell. When I went to use the bathroom about an hour later, they had heavily perfumed the restuarant.

I got fish and chips and unfortunately, I can say I've gotten better at Applebee's. Our adult children were joining us for dinner and luckily they were late so we ordered when they finally got there we told them to go somewhere else to eat. Our tab was $59.08 and we left a $10 tip on the table. I won't ever go back. when you're Irish and you have a mammy and an aunt Katie, you know how this food is supposed to come out, I was raised on it, thought we were going for some comfort food with my people and boy, was I disappointed. They were out of shepherds pie. That was probably a blessing. The staff was pleasant enough, but not very attentive. Somebody did ask me about my food and she even noticed that my husband's plate didn't look right, but she never made a reappearance. if you order tea it's gonna come in a bottle, if I was told that or if I was presented the bottle unopened, I would've declined it and got a Coke. Was it an off night? No, I think that this was standard operating procedure by the clientele that was in there and I guess when you don't know any better you think it's great, but when you know better, you know it's well below par.

Delicious. Next was the cheese board, we were warned that it was a large serving, and while it had a lot of variety, I don't think it was massive based on other cheese boards we had. We split the Korean chicken and skirt steak. Both were exceptional!! When we're back in the area, we'll definitely plan to visit multiple times during our trip. My only complaint was how tightly packed seats are in the cellar. The table directly behind us was sat a few minutes after we were and the guests were VERY loud, so it was hard to hear each other in the small space. Not a knock on P&P, just people not being able to read a room and realize they were disturbing guests around them.

It is simply decorated on the inside and outside of the space. They have an upstairs and downstairs outdoor seating area. They also have indoor seating upstairs and downstairs. It looked like they have a little grab and go bakery / coffee spot inside. Service: The service was great. All the people we met were so friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and well maintained. Food: We were blown away by the food. I was amazed by what we ordered. My husband had their 'Monte Cristo' sandwich and LOVED it. He said it was the best sandwich he's ever had. I had their 'Catfish & Grits' which were delicious. It was packed with so much flavor. I loved the pickled onions that came on top of the dish. The catfish and grits dish hit all the tasting notes. It was sweet, savory, and a little sour with the pickled onions. I LOVED it. We will definitely be back during our trip in North Carolina. We've been to several Michelin star and recommended restaurants and Pure & Proper should be on the list!

The place was spotlessly clean. The bartender and server were both super nice. This is not a brewery, but they have a solid selection of beers on draft, mostly from breweries in Western North Carolina. We had a great flight of porters and stouts for a little over half what we typically pay for a flight in Asheville. All of the beers were really good. We had heard that this place is known for its flatbreads and we love a good flatbread. The one we had here was more than good: it was excellent. The bread dough makes a huge difference in a flatbread. Theirs was sturdy enough to hold all the toppings and not let them soak in too much, and it had a nice crispiness to it. The toppings included goat cheese, basil, onions, banana peppers and a great balsamic vinegar. Instead of ordering two flatbreads to share, we ordered a side of their parmesan truffle potato wedges. I was a little skeptical because in the past when I've had fries with truffle oil, there was too much of it and the taste was overwhelming. Here they found the magic amount. You get the umami taste but it adds to the potato and parmesan flavors instead of covering them up. The wedges were crispy and browned on the outside, but still nice and soft inside. So my recommendation is this: go on a nice hike at Valdese Lakeside Park or visit the neighboring historic mill and waterfalls. Then come here for lunch!
