Best time to go is to catch the sunset views from the several benches located on the rim of the park. There are other nice areas to hang out by the carriage house where you could just read a book or do some yoga stretches. Love love love Prospect Park such a lovely local gem. One of the larger ducks was acting like a puppy - it was so endearing and frightening at the same time. Right now there's a lot of construction. The main restroom area is being worked on. The parking near the dog park fills up quickly. I prefer this parking area compared to the main lot on the other side of the tennis courts. I love how they have racket ball courts but hardly see anyone using them. Overall, solid park and amenities.

To reach the ponds, after you park, you'll need to walk upwards to the left where there is a dirt foot trail to the ponds. There are two ponds. The first one that you'll see, is the smaller one. There are a few ducks that were here when we arrived. We saw several people fishing in this pond because the park recently stocked up the pond with fish. Although, when I spoke to someone who was leaving, they caught 3 fishes and were heading home. Another person who just arrived an hour earlier, still didn't catch any fish. My advice is to go early in the morning when the fish are hungry to catch the fish. To see the larger pond, just keep heading upwards to the right and you'll immediately see it to your left. This pond has most of the ducks congregating here. We saw less people fishing at this pond maybe because there were more ducks. The main reason to going to this park was to feed the ducks. You're not supposed to feed them bread. We brought bird seeds and sunflower seeds (with no salt) with us. When we went, there were three types of ducks: Mallards (The males have the pretty green colored feathers from their head to their necks while the females are covered with different shades of brown. I like the light tan feathered ones. You may see the all-white feathered Mallard which is pretty too.) Muscovy (they look like they're wearing red masks lol) The ones here were rather large compared to the other ducks. American Wigeon (they're smaller than the Mallard & Muscovy with green feather streak from their eyes going down their necks. At the top of their heads, the feathers are a white streak going down their necks as well. The main part of their body is covered with brown feathers.) Overall, we had an enjoyable time here feeding the ducks and relaxing in the park. Great free activity to bring along your kids to see the ducks. Just remember not to feed them bread because it lacks nutritional value and can lead to health problems for the birds.

Although the park is technically just across the street there's no crosswalk within a mile in either direction. It honestly feels like the City of Redlands isn't fully aware they have train service. The park itself is quite lovely and spacious, featuring a large rose garden, a children's play area, a gazebo (which requires a permit to use), several picnic spots, a horseshoe pit, and a skatepark. One picnic area has a functioning sink, but the others lack water access. While the landscaping is attractive, overall maintenance leaves much to be desired. There are remnants of old tennis courts in disrepair, and although the restrooms were clean and open, they're very outdated and likely don't meet current codes (cities don't have to comply with their own codes). Sidewalks are scarce, making this park difficult to navigate for anyone with mobility challenges. If you're planning a small gathering, keep your group under 25 people to avoid needing a permit. Seating is limited, so arriving early is a must. Also, be prepared to pack up and leave quickly if law enforcement hassles you. Parking is limited for a park of this size, which is why taking the train would be ideal--if it weren't for the unsafe street crossing, especially concerning if you have small children. Sylvan Park is technically a "resident park," not a "public park." This means its primary use is intended for Redlands residents, and non-resident use may be restricted or require additional permissions. For larger group events needing permits, you'll likely need liability insurance and guidance from a Redlands-based attorney is strongly advised.

This is my favorite park in Redlands for my morning walks. For those who haven't been here before,…read moreyes, there is a restroom in the middle of the park for your convenience. Plus, for dog owners, they always replenish and have trash bags to use so that you can pick up after your dog's poop. You will love talking a jog or walk in this park because the one mile circle around the park is all cemented. No worries about getting your shoes dirty. For families with kids, there are two play grounds for your children to enjoy too. This park is big enough if you want to hold your kid's birthday party too. Just be mindful that on the weekend, below where the park is situated is a shooting range and you will hear their customers practice shooting. I usually like coming earlier in the morning if you don't want to hear the gun shots. I love how you feel close to nature listening to all the birds that live in the trees at this park. If you get lucky, you will get a glimpse of bunnies and maybe squirrels. There are cemented picnic areas too and only two water fountains. Plus one grill area if you want to BBQ. Please be respectful and clean up after yourself when you are done so that others can enjoy the park as well. A few days ago, because of the strong winds, two trees fell down, but the park employees were on top and taped off the area to be removed. I hope that you enjoy your day at this park too.

Since I decided to have an early morning walk in this park at 5 am, I didn't have difficulty finding a parking spot at the top side of the park. I love hearing all the birds in this park. It's so relaxing and you feel so close to nature. The hiking/walking trail is one mile to walk around the circumference of the park. Be mindful though, the trail is a dirt pathway and if they recently watered the grass, then you'll encounter patches of mud. The trees and bushes are numbered so you can look up what type of plant they are, but they're indigenous to the area. There were only a few people taking their morning walks and others taking their dogs out for a walk as well. I only noticed a few poop droppings from dogs where their owners didn't pick up after them, but other than that, this park makes you feel like you're taking a hike in nature. To the far right, is a grassy meadow where you can have a picnic. There are no picnic benches there though. This is area was completely green from the care and watering. Great place to bring your dog to run freely chasing Frisbees or balls. Also, there are no public restrooms at this park. However, I did notice one water fountain and people must have left bowls there for their dogs to drink out of. Overall, a beautiful park to visit and enjoy nature.

It functions as a town square and is used for…read moreconcerts, special events such as the Art Walk and Movies in the Park, and other public productions. It's occasionally enclosed to be used as a beer garden during downtown events. It's home to the annual Christmas tree as well as the Sister Cities clock, restored paintings on the brick wall and other public art. It's also a quiet, shady place to sit and eat at the tables or benches. While there's all that good stuff, the real problem with it is that it can get quite filthy; for example, I once encountered an apparent human turd there.

During Thursdays Market Night you can always find great entertainment from a local band, or occasionally see a local school perform on the weekend. During the holidays, it is the center of excitement hosting the tree lighting ceremony as well as the New Year's Eve Orange Drop. I highly recommend checking out this little park when looking for a nice place to relax or have a fun activity.

This park is actually part of Bryn Mar Elementary. I didn't know the official name of the park…read moreuntil I looked it up. My kids call it the Blue Park because of the blue colors used on the play ground equipment. There is alot of land. So much of the park is not used. I think the playground should be expanded since they have so much room. They have 2 tennis courts. (which is used quite frequently) A baseball diamond which I don't see people on much. And two play areas. One on the west side of the school which consist of a two sections for older kids and younger kids. On the South east side there is another play area. It is further from the parking lot so most people don't use it. I think this section is used more for the school and may have been build by Bryn Mar. The play area uses a rubber mat which is good in case your kids fall. There is no basketball court, which on one hand is usually good because it keeps the knuckle heads away, however, considering the area in Loma Linda there isn't usually that kind of rif raf there anyway. North of here there is a few basketball courts that people frequent at Bryn Mawr Veterans Memorial Park. The neighborhood is nice. I think they should add a little more shade. There is a restroom near the play area which is good, but there is only one table with a canopy for shade. When it is a hot and sunny day it can be a problem. Especially if you don't want to get a tan, or a sun burn, or both!

The parking is pretty easy to find and the map is easy to read. I'd recommend some decent trail shoes and a small water bottle. The park across the street is a nice spot for a picnic afterwards. Watch out for all the animal droppings from dogs and horses.
