We made the decision to use Craftsman for our windows and siding over three other bids we obtained from other companies. What drew us to them was past reviews and the reputation that they had for their workmanship and attention t detail. Their pricing was very competitive and now that we can see the finished project it was well worth choosing them over the less expensive competition. Our first contact was with Erik and he was very up front and great at explaining the process, products and pricing. We didn't make many changes but when we had questions he was quick to answer. The only issue I had during this whole project was with a kitchen window that I asked be a "picture" window and ended up being a casement because of size requirements. I was never informed of the change until the window was delivered and set to be installed the next day. An explanation before the fact would have been nice. We had two crews work on our home. I was so impressed with their professionalism, punctuality, ability and communication. This was the biggest difference from the contractors we had worked with in the past. These guys are what separated this company from others and this is why your choose Craftsman to work on your home. The other thing that sets them apart is the constant communication that they have. The worst part of a project is not being kept in the loop and that was not an issue with this company. The one other thing I wanted to mention is that I can't even tell they were there. They clean up after themselves every day and now that the project is complete I can't even tell that they were there which is important to me because I have small children so picking up all of the "scraps" around the home is a big deal. I would recommend them to everyone and say that they will cost slightly more than some of their competitors but in the end it is very much worth the extra money to have the job done this well. This review was written before we got the final bill or any inspections completed so those are the only two variables that we still have to deal with but I am not to worried about either of them. read more

Craftsmen provided a timely, thorough estimate and addressed all of the questions we had before agreeing to move forward with the replacement of our home and garage roofs, and re-siding on the garage. Weather made scheduling difficult, but we were kept well-updated leading up to the day of the installation. On the morning the roof installation was to begin, there was a threat of weather and the crew was amenable to completing only the garage, which they knew they could accomplish before things got wet again. When the weather cleared, the roof installation went very smoothly. The crew had only a minor amount of work left, and returned on a Saturday to complete the job. The yard was clean and the landscaping was left largely undamaged throughout the project. The garage was re-sided the following week. The morning work was to begin, we spoke with the foreman who told us the quote had not included door/window trim, as we'd expected and hoped. They were able to quickly adapt and the work was done at cost due to the confusion. The siding, along with some minor carpentry repair work, looked clean and professional. We were very pleased again with the clean-up and respect for the landscaping (a challenge being so close to the garage). A third crew returned shortly after to install the gutters on the garage. Work was done as expected on one side, but there was another mix-up on the downspout replacement on the south side of the garage. We immediately raised this issue and were contacted within a day with a promise to repair the work. Craftsmen also offered us $100 gift card to a garden center after it was pointed out that the gutter crews had not been as sensitive to our landscaping as the previous workers. Overall, a very cost-competitive and fair bid, quality work and responsive service. We would recommend working with Craftsmen, with an understanding that there is a need to be both vocal and detailed about your expectations. read more

When have you ever used words like "exceptional", "extraordinary", or "remarkable" for work done on your home? I had to use Google to come up with enough words to describe our roofing project with Craftsmen Home Improvement. There's definitely a reason for all the 5-star reviews. Customer service is first and foremost at Craftsmen. Our first contact was with Jim, to talk about the project and what Craftsmen could do. He was never rushed, never annoyed with our unknowledgeable questions and spent all the time needed so we were comfortable. When we asked for a quote, we got biographies of the main people we would be working with and a detailed quote following the format from the insurance estimator. Plus the Lifetime Labor Warranty. When we chose Craftsmen, we promptly got an email from them, welcoming us and an attached document "What to Expect with Your Roofing Project" with all kinds of helpful information. We were concerned about damage to our new driveway. So we only made a comment, but it was out with the dumpster and in with a lighter garbage trailer. Then there was the daily clean-up: nothing was left out at night, it was all put away or taken away. And not only did they blow the leaves away from the house, they cleaned the whole yard and took away my husband's raking job for the season. Needless to say, after the final clean-up, the yard was more pristine than before the job was started! Regarding the actual roof, the crew came out to inspect the job and discovered several items that had been left off the insurance estimate - an additional $6,000 find. The crew worked early and late to beat the weather. And the roof looks great. Staff was always available to answer questions-I don't remember ever being put on hold. I want to endorse Craftsmen Home Improvements, Inc. to anyone looking for a fair price, fast service, and excellent workmanship. I had some storm damage on an upper roof of my two and a half story home. I called Jim Kosloski, who came out quickly and went up on the roof to measure and put together a bid and work order for a new roof. I accepted their bid which was considerably more reasonable than the bid from another roofing company, and scheduled the work to be done. The crew arrived on time on the day they agreed to do the work and in a short time they had removed the two previous layers of shingles to uncover the need for a full covering of decking due to the gaps between the pine roof boards on my 105 year old home. The wood was delivered in under an hour and installed quickly. The most amazing thing for me was to watch this crew, which moved like a well oiled machine, arrive at about 7:30 am and be completely done and cleaned up by about 2:30 pm. Jim told me this crew has been working together for about ten years and he considers them the best in the business. As I looked at the roof 30 feet up from the ground and realized that I didn't have to lift a shingle to have a beautiful roof with two dormers, four steel valleys, two chimneys, and vents to work around, I could hardly believe it was completed so quickly. One added bonus was that this crew had covered my shrubs and landscaping on all four sides of the house and done an excellent job making it look like they had never been here. My husband and I used Craftsmen Home Improvements to replace some original windows in our 38 year old home. Throughout the entire process, they were professional, cheerful, helpful, and a joy to work with. Eric came to our home for our initial sales consultation and was able to clearly explain our options and how they would impact the appearance and performance of the new windows and what price points we were looking at. Having options and a professional explanation of the differences between windows made a huge difference in our ability to make an informed decision. During a storm, our kitchen light began to leak water. I contacted several companies early the next morning and connected with a few of them but CHI had the best reviews on Angie's List. Jim from CHI stopped over within a day or two to assess our situation (both in our attic & our roof). He took his time and was thorough in explaining what he saw. He sat down with us to discuss options and review how the insurance process worked. Jim remained in close contact with us during the insurance claim process and when it was approved for fixing, Maria (the roofing project manager) helped schedule a date and continued to display excellent communication (from a slightly changed date to placement of the dumpster). Finally, the financing process was a breeze thanks to Nic. It was clear that others who reviewed them on Angie's List were correct in their assessment - CHI is a great company to work with - especially when it matters the most. I was very happy with the whole process of having my roof replaced on house and garage and new gutters on 2 sides of the house. The organization and planning was excellent, from start to finish. I changed my mind about whether to include the porch roof, which was a more recent roof, in the job, and called up and got another estimate including that portion, without having another visit. I asked if my stove vent could be hooked up and this was included for what I thought was a resasonable amount, $80., and was given addresses to look at the different colors available 'on the roof', as well as the samples brought to my house with the estimate /offer visit. The house roof was done in one day and the garage roof the next good day weather wise; and care was taken not to leave shingles and nails etc. on the ground. I found just a few small staples --which I think is great, considering how much was done. The gutters were installed actually on Thanksgiving morning to work around the snow, and my schedule, and with an offer to return to adapt the downspout to accomadate a water barrel when I get one. read more

Very pleased overall. PROS: Friendly, professional service. Incredibly fast!! My goodness, the crew of 8 worked so, so hard all day! They arrived on time, and got busy immediately. And as far as I can tell, did a thorough and skilled job. We had some problem areas, and an unusual roofline, but it seems they did a fine job taking care of everything!! Roof looks great! Clean-up was good, but not quite as good as expected. They even waited for me run to town to pick-up paint for the new vents so I could paint them quick before install...which saved me hours and hours of work! Leaky roof fixed, and multiple preventative things done to prevent any further issues with ice dams/leaks. CONS: We have found quite a few nail and staples in our yard, and on the driveway. I suppose that is an issue with any roof job. Hoping we get NO flat tires. Also, we had expected our shrubs/flowers to be more protected with the use of ramps/boards and tarps, but it wasn't too bad. My experience with Craftsmen Home Improvements was excellent from start to finish. I really appreciated, Maria, the project coordinator. We had constant communication, which was very helpful because I had so many questions being that this was my first time having a roof job performed. The crew was awesome as well. The lead roofer, Elmer, was a very kind and so was the whole crew. The roof looks great! They were also very nice to let me throw a bit of my own construction debris into the dumpster - I saw on some quotes with other roofers that they don't allow that. I really believe that I got one of the best roofing companies and I'd recommend them to anybody. My selection process: I received a few quotes from roofers and Craftsman was right in the middle. Craftsman offered a lifetime warranty on WORKMANSHIP. None of the other roofers had that offer. So when you factor that in, I think they were the best value. In addition, they had great reviews on Angie's list, so I felt comfortable selecting them and I'm glad I did. read more

I hired Craftsmen Home Improvements to replace the existing siding, soffits, fascia, gutters and downspouts. They also removed two balconies and installed new custom made aluminum balconies (including all of the structural framing to support the balconies). They installed new James Hardie siding, aluminum soffits and fascia, and seamless gutters and downspouts (with leaf guards). I couldn't be happier with how the process went from start to finish. My first contact was with Tim from Craftsmen and he was really great to work with. He did the bidding and all of the carpentry work associated with the new balconies. Tim took a complicated task and made it look easy. Pat and Beto ran the siding crew and they were really great as well. I am a real estate lawyer for a very large commercial developer and I have worked with a ton of contractors on very large projects. My husband and I are thrilled with the new windows and frames installed for us by Jim, Tom, Steve and Tyler. We could not be more pleased. The windows are so beautiful and give our home a much needed beauty makeover! The carpentry skills and workmanship of the crew was fantastic. And their professionalism was beyond our expectations. They were quick, yet thorough, took pride in doing their craft with precision and artful style, very conscientious about not disrupting our home life more than they had to while they were here, and always cleaned up at the end of each day. The entire team at Craftsmen were wonderful. From our initial estimate with Erik, to coordinating with Kim and working with Tom and his window crew, we were kept in the loop every step of the way. We had 22 windows and a patio door replaced and they got the job done amazingly quick. Tom and Jim's crew were very reliable and helpful. They were diligent and careful while working at our home. I appreciated how they left our house clean and organized each day after they left. I had questions about a couple other issues around the house and they not only had answers/suggestions, but also offered to help remedy those issues. One of the crew members, Tyler, was especially helpful with fixing those issues. They did a great job and the windows and patio door turned out beautifully. Their work and service speaks volumes. I worked with Erik Daehlin from a sales perspective and he was awesome! Erik was quick to answer our questions whether it was via phone or email. He worked hard to provide us with the best pricing possible for our window project. In regards to the installation, the team was great!! Tom Burdine was our project manager and was onsite everyday during the installation, we provided daily updates to him and our requests were responded to immediately. One window was delivered and installed with the wrong hardware, the CHI team took it in stride and the correct hardware was installed on the window in a matter of days. The crew cleaned everything up prior to finishing each day, including vacuuming the area they worked in and installed temporary window coverings - we barely noticed the project was going on. Each day the crew was at our home I was able to personally review progress and was informed of what was planned for that day. For a number of of years we deferred replacing the vinyl siding on our house that was poorly installed and had deteriorated horribly, but after our son and daughter-in-law had their home beautifully redone with Hardiboard siding installed by Craftsmen Home Improvements we knew it was our time. Based on my son's experience and recommendation, we opted for CHI to install James Hardie siding and soffits and couldn't be more satisfied with that decision. The work crew (Ray and Luis Nava) were fantastic in all ways; communication, skill and workmanship. They worked tirelessly and efficiently(even in some harsh winter temperatures) and always informed me of issues they encountered with our somewhat "wonky" house that they addressed with proper solutions. Craftsmen Home Improvements just finished replacing the roof on my house and on my garage. Things could not have gone better. My house and garage look great. CHI's communication and professionalism are excellent. Erik and Nic were patient and willing to answer all my questions. They regularly checked in with me during the process. We were trying to solve an usual problem while doing the roofing and Jim came out also. I really felt like the whole company was working for me to make sure everything was perfect. The crew was great and the job site was thoroughly cleaned up. I lost a few hostas during the roofing process and Nic went above and beyond to ensure that they were replaced. We hired Craftsmen for a big job including a new roof (and all that a new roof on an old house entails), soffits and fascia, gutters and insulation replacement. We were also instructed- wisely, I believe- to replace the chimney at this opportune moment. We have just passed the soffit and fascia stage, and thus far the work on the house looks fantastic. We have a couple of small issues to be corrected here and there, but that is the nature of the game in such a big project and big investment. We have only positive things to say about both crews that have worked at the house thus far. They were polite and very careful to leave a clean yard at the end of the day. I have to say I'm extremely happy with the quality of the windows install and the workmanship provide by the window installation crew (Tom, Jim and crew). New windows look great and the stain matching was spot on. Looks like perfect and I am ecstatic with the results. I will recommend anyone looking to get windows replaced to Craftsman. And if their window crew is anything like their other crews I'd recommend them for other services as well. They were helpful in answering my questions as they worked. Took fantastic care while doing work in the house by covering things and using drop cloths as needed.
