Still feeling out the hotel. A bit lacking on the hospitality. For the good... it was a quaint little hotel with olde charm feel. Near gramtown and a cute little area. The problem was it just seemed old and not much else. Wouldn't let us check in till 3 pm even though it seemed it was ready before that. came in for dinner and literally got stared at by two hostesses for 10 min Then waited for wife to return from water closet before coming over. Lacking a little on service and friendliness. They didn't come by all that much even though it wasn't busy. The food was lacking. I got the venison haunch and it was more of a venison sirloin and it was over cooked and not too tasty. Other than being cute the only other highlight was the bar. The bartender was cool and friendly. And only reason I gave an extra stars. Also had a decent whisky selection but not enough being so close to speyside and all the amazing distilleries. Should offer a whisky flight! Dinner and breakfast times were very limited for some reason. The room was super noisy and creaky floors. The neighbors sounded like they were in the room. The carpet and decor were right out of the 60s. Seemed like an elderly home and not the quaint hotel it could be. Really needs a makeover. No parking. Just in the driveway. Watch out for old grannies in their Mercedes not knowing how to park. Ugh! I'd recommend staying somewhere else read more

So this hotel is the cutest thing ever! It's old with creaky floors, but charming as hell. They have a restaurant downstairs that served really great food- and the staff was super friendly. The wifi was crap- but I was willing to trade that for the comfortable and clean room. The town itself was also super charming. Highly recommend! read more

I'd like to start with something positive and say that the exterior of the hotel was amazing. It looks like an old castle mixed with a charming cottage. I was totally stoked when we rolled up! And its right across from the river Spay down a beautiful little path and marsh sprinkled with mallard ducks! The décor on the inside was also a mixed mash of 3 different worlds colliding but not necessarily in the best way. It was a bit like an old folk's home mixed with a 1970's casino and hunting lodge. Check in is at 3 o'clock but don't think you're gonna get in early. It definitely seemed like they were against that and would not even store the luggage. When we walked inside, there was a particular unpleasant smell that was pervasive throughout the hotel. We stayed in the Glenlivit room and when we finally were allowed in, we were a little surprised at the quality of the room. It was completely underwhelming. The floors creaked so loudly that it seemed as though other people were in the room with us as they walked by or moved about in their own adjoining room. The mattress was possibly 30 years old and you could feel and hear the springs when in bed. The flat bottom sheet didn't even completely cover the mattress! There was no top sheet, just the comforter. The pillows were so thin and compressed that it was like laying on thin bricks. We both woke up with sore necks and ears. The bathroom door wont open completely so you better be thin to get in, and the toilet wont flush well, so if you are hoping for some privacy whilst using the loo and expecting a flush after your poo, think again!! The shower only is so tiny that you hit your elbows just to try to wash your hair. The hilight of the stay was the cool bartender. We didn't have much interaction with him, but it was genuine and he was really nice. The restaurant also underperformed. Empty and with terrible service. Two people ignored our table for 10 minutes, no drink order, no water, no welcome. When one server approached the table she simply asked if we were ready to order. Food wasn't great, but not horrible. Pretty average. Service was seriously lacking. The one dessert we wanted wasn't available. Couldn't get the staff to return with our bill, so we left and told the bartender to please add it to our bill. Yeah, so we won't be staying here again, and I wouldn't recommend this placw to anyone looking for a good night's sleep, but if that's not your goal, then by all means book a room here. read more

My wife and I were housed here on a Trafalgar "Best of Scotland" tour. Definitely not a hotel I would recommend or return to. To pay for a "Best of" tour and lower my standard of living was unacceptable. My freshman dorm room in college was larger and more accommodating than this hovel. Shame on Trafalgar for booking this hotel and shame on Craiglynne for cutting what could be a lovely building into closets with beds. read more

I'll cut then some slack on the quality of the room since they were almost fully booked when we checked in, but we did ask for a quite room and she should have been honest when giving us 115 which we think is located over the kitchen or dining room based on the noise. The room itself was small with every step creaking the floor. The bed felt like a slab of bricks, and the toilet flusher was in need of repair. The service in the restaurant was mediocre but the food was acceptable once someone finally took our orders. Really the only good things I can say is the wi-fi worked and the building looks nice. read more
