Michael and Emily were super responsive to my many questions and I felt their pontoon rental and gas prices were fair for the area. They even accommodated us when we wanted to return the pontoon earlier than planned. We just had such a great time and got too tired to spend another day on the lake. The pontoon we rented was perfect for our large group. It was a 2008, so it didn't have Bluetooth speakers (we just brought our own portable speakers. It was equipped with a live well and a GPS fish finder system for our fishermen. Canopy withstood the strong winds during a storm. Comfortable seating too. They even let us park 2 of our vehicles at their lot during our rental, which made loading and unloading so much easier. Great service, great pontoon rental, A+!

I camped here for two evenings back over the summertime of 2021 and really enjoyed my experience. There were so many great aspects to Arnold's. First thing...although they don't accept reservations online, I called them the day of needing a campsite and they had immediate availability. Granted, this area of International Falls, Minnesota is very remote in terms of locations for tourists to visit, but overall, Arnold's was extremely accessible for any adventurer traveling spontaneously. I just had my tent with me and could have used a simple primitive site for $20...but for $5 more I got Amp Power as well for charging my electronics. I was set up for success in my explorations around Voyageurs National Park. Arnold's is located pretty much right in town of International Falls, MN...convenient for everything a good ole small town can offer. There are fast food restaurants, supply stores, grocery stores...all the necessities that you can think of. So...having the amenities of International Falls while spending time at the Rainy Lake section of Voyageurs (only 12 miles away) as well as the Lake Kabetogama area too (only 28 miles away), it was great to stay here at Arnold's. I met the Arnold, the camp host right when I pulled into the campground, and he directed me to my site which was located in the center of the grounds surrounded by the RV sites. What was terrific about being in the middle of it all was that I got to set up my tent along fluffy grass while being situated close to the bathrooms and showers. I paid $25 per night for 2 nights. Right when I was greeted by Arnold, he gave me a quick overview and tour of the campgrounds. And that was it. I was good to go on my own. I set up my tent and plugged in my electronics with the Amp Power service (I believe I had 20 Amp). Since it was late in the afternoon on my first day...I headed off to the shower house. They have 2 showers for men, basically both very clean and well maintained. The bathrooms located inside the shower house were fine. Also good was the cell phone reception service being strong. I had no issues downloading a couple of movies to watch at night. Some other details and extras... - They have a dump station. - They sell firewood and have fire pits. - Each site had a picnic table. - Quiet hours start at 10pm. - They offer rates for weekly and monthly stays. Weekly is $150. Monthly is $550. During my time here, there actually weren't any other visitors staying next to me with tents. I was the only person using a tent. But...all the RV sites were fully occupied. Lastly, using Arnold's as my home base in exploring a majority of Voyageurs National Park was simply ideal and perfect. I'm so happy I found it on Campendium, the app on my phone. I highly recommend to visitors and tourists interested in coming to this remote area of Northern Minnesota near the border with Canada to consider staying at Arnold's Campground & RV Park.

We took an amazing tour with Merritt, who shared so much history of the lake - I wish I would have even taken notes! We hiked through Voyageurs National Park - trail views were spectacular, saw many hidden gems, and stopped at the historic Kettle Falls. Highly recommend this guided boat tour for all - even if you have been on Rainy many times!

You can bring your own food for lunch on the boat (no eating or drinking other than water on the boat though) or order at the Visitor Center so you get a lunch box waiting for you at the Lodge. The ordering process at the lodge was pretty simple - the ranger asks for your name and ticks off the boxes for what you want. The visitor center itself is in the historic Meadwood Lodge. Ted Mead and his workers constructed the lodge and several cabins so that hunters and fishermen could stay near the water in the 1930s. It's still standing today, a testament to excellent craftsmanship and restoration by the NPS. Inside the entrance takes you to the ranger desk and gift shop, with the usual assortment of goods for sale. In the back is a room with more information about the area and the history of the lodge. There's a smaller room beyond that which shows a park film. Washrooms are in a separate building (has running water, score!).

I never would have thought I would enjoy this mine as much as I did. Perhaps it was the little boy…read morein me remembering my old Tonka trucks and sandbox from back in the day. The views are epic, beautiful and truly awe inspiring. The equipment they sue is MASSIVE and shows how creatively industrious humans are to conceive and build such behemoth devices. Looking out over the mine I couldn't help but think how I wanted to come ack during a snowfall at sunrise and just watch the snow as the morning colors change. Worth your time to see, I can think of worse ways to burn an hour.

If you're thinking of doing this, make the decision! I have to say, Wintergreen was awesome! Paul provided a 1/2 hour orientation, how to work with the dogs, the commands, etc. He made it super easy, and fun! My wife and I went, and there was a family with Mom, Dad, and the kids 9 & 10. We had 3 sleds for each pair on a half day excursion. Our guides (one in front and one in back) were awesome, helpful, and knowledgeable of the terrain and nature: our guide paused to show us a burrow in the snow where you could see a feather print on the snow(!) explaining it was from a grouse that burrows in the winter for warmth and we were observing its exodus! So cool! Really, can't say enough for this resort and this experience! Oh yea, and we had a favorite dog: Bob. :)
