Michael and Emily were super responsive to my many questions and I felt their pontoon rental and gas prices were fair for the area. They even accommodated us when we wanted to return the pontoon earlier than planned. We just had such a great time and got too tired to spend another day on the lake. The pontoon we rented was perfect for our large group. It was a 2008, so it didn't have Bluetooth speakers (we just brought our own portable speakers. It was equipped with a live well and a GPS fish finder system for our fishermen. Canopy withstood the strong winds during a storm. Comfortable seating too. They even let us park 2 of our vehicles at their lot during our rental, which made loading and unloading so much easier. Great service, great pontoon rental, A+!

Our family has been in some national parks but the whole family all agrees that this trip to Voyageurs National Park on is one of the best. The main reasons are that we stayed on Ebel's houseboat, did motorboating, kayaking and some camping. Before this trip, we didn't know much about operating boat. But Dannis explained everything in details and went extra mile helping us on our first day. On the 3rd day something unexpected happened and we needed urgent help. Justin and Katie responded quickly and efficiently solved the problem. They truly care about their customers and we really appreciated their help. We highly recommend Ebel.

The houseboats are truly the adventure of a lifetime. Talk about having all of the amenities in the middle of nowhere...there is truly nothing quite like it. We had the vista series this trip and it was amazing! We loved the solarium front of the boat and the hot tub on the upper deck! Bring a big fan to circulate the air. Yes, you have to bring all your essentials, ie: towels, tp dish soap etc. Now for fishing... we killed it! Thank you to Leif on the spots for best fishing, we found alot on our own as well. If you need something, leif goes into town 1 a week and will pick it up for you. He also had ice, gas for the boat, worms, leeches and various items for purchase if you need. Remember, there is NO cell service whatsoever! Bring cards, a radio, bags, whatever you need to keep you content. Pet friendly!!! We had a good stay. Thank you to Leif!

I've been fishing in the North for more than 40 years. This trip,by far, was the very worst…read more If I could leave minus 4 stars I would. The boats haven't been worked on in years. My boat, with my 2 sons was the best of the lot -- everything was broken. The floors were rotted and all of the pedestal seats were broken. We had to sit on unsecured office lobby chairs. The boat driver had to sit on a cooler with a cushion. The trolling motor lasted about 45 minutes and the throttle handle fell off. The live well was screwed shut and unusable. The motor couldn't be tilted because the lid was broken. No fish finder or bait as promised except for some crawlers on occasion. Hollering (MFing, etc) from morning to night by Leaf could be heard everywhere as he threatened to call the police on his new wife. 3 Rock bass, 2 wormy Perch and 1 7 inch Walleye was the best fishing day. Oh yeah, bring your own toilet paper because its not supplied. The cabin was O.K. but 2 stove burners and oven didn't work. Takes an hour + to make a pot of coffee and there is no Micro Wave. A window pane fell on my partner's head while sleeping. I could go on and on but --DO YOURSELF A FAVOR - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I wish I could include pictures of the boats and shoddy dock. It'll take you about an hour to get some minnows.

If you arrive at peak time then you might be relegated to a table in the lobby, which just isn't my idea of a nice dinner venue. The menu is a bit variable also -- there are some very good offerings and several so-so dishes. I've found that the specials and fish dishes tend to be better. Note that you really need to call for a reservation; ideally 3-7 days before you want to go. There aren't very many higher-quality restaurants in Ely and they get busy very quickly during peak season.

This was the first time renting a houseboat and the staff has good instructions for our captain and have very useful maps to navigate by. We got to fish all day and everyone got a bite at some point. Staff sold us ice to transport our fish and had tons of dry firewood to start our campfires. Beds were comfortable and everyone got good sleep after all the fresh air every day.
