We had a very good first visit to T-Doug's Cajun Cuisine in Ragley and were glad we pulled off the…read morehighway to check the hours on the door. The parking lot was empty and it didn't look open yet, but we turned out to be the first customers of the day. Service: From the start, service set a strong tone. The hostess was friendly, welcoming, and seated us promptly, clearly proud to show off the new, more spacious location with plenty of seating for groups of all sizes. Our server, Jada (who we later learned is a manager), was excellent: sweet, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always a step ahead of our needs. She even made a fresh pot of coffee for our dessert order. If T-Doug is putting people like her in leadership, he's doing something right. Ambiance: The dining room still has that "new" feel. It's clean, well-lit, and comfortable. The décor is functional and inviting without trying too hard, which fits the place well. Food & Drink: The current menu doesn't appear to be updated on the website, but it's easy to find on their Facebook page. There's a lot to choose from, including steaks and higher-end options that would make this a good spot for a special occasion. Overall, the menu suggests broad restaurant experience rather than a one-note concept. I didn't explore the bar much, but it looked well-stocked enough to suit most tastes. We started with homemade onion rings, which were a pleasant surprise: uniform and skinny, crunchy, well-cooked, and nicely seasoned. Beverages: We had waters along with a Rum Punch and T-Doug's Lemonade. Both cocktails were light and refreshing, didn't taste like a dry mix, and were balanced just right. Enough rum and vodka to relax, not enough to make you lose your religion. Entrées: Solid all around. The fried combo dinner featured hand-battered fish and shrimp with crispy fries and hushpuppies. Everything was cooked properly and satisfying. The Cajun club came on Texas toast, quartered and stacked high on a thick wooden skewer that would come in handy if the parking lot got rough. Roast beef cold cuts, American cheese (something a little less processed might have elevated it), lettuce, tomato, crispy bacon, and turkey or chicken (not sure which one and don't remember the menu description). The bread was nicely toasted without being over-buttered, and thankfully the kitchen believes in restraint. No "swimming in mayo" here. Dessert: Beignets: bite-sized, crisp on the outside, soft inside, lightly dusted with powdered sugar, and not greasy or overly sweet. Perfect with hot black coffee served in proper mugs. Value: For the quality and quantity we received, prices felt very fair for this area. Kudos to the kitchen and chef. Having moved back to DeRidder from the Baton Rouge metro, we've decided that dining out should offer something we can't easily do at home. We both enjoy cooking, and T-Doug's clears that bar. We'll definitely be back, especially when the grill is (hopefully) running earlier in the day so we can try the steak selection.

My waitress has quick, kind, and courteous! The fried pickles were absolutely delicious. The Gumbo was ok. The shrimp Po-boy was good as well. Atmosphere - 5 stars Cleanliness - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Food taste/quality - 4 stars I'd like to know what's the signature dish at this establishment. Kind of like when you go to Darrell's in Lake Charles you already know what you're ordering. It would be cool if this place had just one amazing signature dish that people will drive out of their way just to have.

This place is truly a hidden gem in Leesville! My family of four ordered:…read more * Chicken fried steak with fries, red beans, and a fried pistolette * Gumbo with potato salad and a fried pistolette * Grilled pork chop dinner with a side salad and steamed vegetables * Kids' chicken tender meal When my side salad arrived, the lettuce wasn't up to my standards, so I sent it back. The manager came over right away to ask what the issue was. To me, it was obvious--the lettuce had soggy, brown pieces--but I simply explained that I'm very picky about lettuce. She told me it was from a fresh bag that had just been opened, but I decided to switch my side to the rice and gravy instead. I'm glad I did! The rice and gravy was delicious. The gravy was rich, dark brown, thick, and coated the rice perfectly. The steamed vegetables were the only disappointment, as they seemed like they had been microwaved. However, the grilled pork chop, although thin, was seasoned well and cooked perfectly, staying surprisingly juicy. The chicken fried steak was excellent, with crispy fries alongside it. The red beans were decent but nothing particularly memorable. The gumbo was very good, and the potato salad paired with it perfectly. The kids' chicken tenders were outstanding--juicy, well-seasoned, and fried to perfection while still staying moist inside. Overall, this is definitely a restaurant I'd return to. The staff handled my concern professionally, the service was great, and most of the food was excellent. Next time, I'll simply skip the salad.

The restaurant was decorated as you would expect a good Cajun restaurant to be decorated in. Service was nice and friendly and you order at the register and they bring your food to you. Service was great even after we got our food. A server asked us if we needed refills and if we wanted them in to-go cups, which scored bonus points with me! Here's what I had on this lunch visit: The crawfish pistollette (8/10) which was a small appetizer that was bread with some crawfish etouffee on top. Bread was nicely cooked and the etouffee on top was delicious. Solid starter! The Cajun Cooking Sampler (9/10) - this was a sampler with 3 amazing dishes. I got the shrimp and crab gumbo, which is classic Louisiana gumbo and it was outstanding! The sampler also had a bowl of crawfish etouffee which was good but felt it needed a bit more etoufee to mix with the rice. Lastly, the special of the day was fish courtbouillon which was a fish in tomato based sauce over rice. I really enjoyed this as the fish has a great texture and there was a lot of flavor in the sauce. Overall, solid lunch meal in the $ to $$ range depending on what you order. Recommend you trying it for a great Cajun experience!

From the direction we drove in from it looks like a tiny parking lot with 10 spaces. Someone was pulling out so we got front row parking. There is a MASSIVE parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. Saturday Night 6:07- party of 2. The order and seating process is unusual. Place your order at the counter and they tell you which area to sit in. We were eating at 6:17. That's unreal. Alligator bites ($13) Shrimp tacos ($10) and Shrimp w/ crab gumbo. ($10) 2x miller lite ($7) dinner for 2- $45 Everything was absolutely amazing. I've read reviews where the people complained that the food was bland. And other people complained that the foods were too salty. I have zero complaints. We were completely satisfied. Thanks to Apple Maps and Yelp for helping us make this decision. We were only in for a wedding and wanted a unique experience that was local- not a chain.
