Crazy Gun Dealer has an online presence by the name gunsandammo.com. I purchased a gun for $500 plus $25 for shipping. The following day I received a communication from a shipper (Scandinavian Express) in Colorado telling me I had to pay them $580 for a restriction stamp before they would ship it. Long story short Crazy Gun Dealer claims they don't know who these people are (yet they both have the same exact address). Guns and Ammo are crooks and Scandinavian Express is a total scam. Crazy gun dealer is your place if you live in Johnson/Ellis county. The shop is SMALL as in you take 5 steps and you are on the other side of it but it is incredible how much of a selection they have. I have been to stores twice as big with half the inventory on hand. The guys working on my visit were friendly and knew there stuff but I never felt pressured to make a purchase they just seemed like they wanted to help me find what I wanted. Prices were very fair given the current market and I believe you will not find a better value on a new gun then you will with CGD and if you do they price match. Turns out they "forgot" to change the tag from covid prices and it must have been sitting on a shelf. I have been to better gun stores and I have been to worse. On his ads, on the radio, they do say accessory and ammo purchase is required. However, when I priced buying the guns with the ammo and accessories, the gun comes out to be the same as if I bought it buy itself. He does have a decent selection but I was not happy when I was looking for a 40 caliber pistol. There were none. He said he does not carry 40 cal based on what the police shoot and based on his preference. His words were: I dont like 40 cal and I wont carry it. I live in Dallas and go to Glen Rose once a year. I pass his shop on the way down from Dallas and on the way back. Overall, if I lived in his area, I would shop there. But I live in dallas and it would not be worth the money or time in driving or shopping there based on looking for a gun. I think his business would be more popular if he just sold guns at fair market price and maybe give a discount if they buy accessories or ammo. However, the design of the store is horrible. If it is crowded, you are crawling over people. read more

I was extremely hopeful about going to the CGD. With the numerous radio commercials that play all the time, I was expecting some massive warehouse of weapons. It's not that at all - whatever, not a big deal. My friend and I went down for their used gun sale as well as a sale on a $99 shotgun. This is the reason for the poor review. Yes, you did get a shotgun for $99, BUT you had to buy $150 worth of ammo. NONE of the signs said you had to purchase ammo. When we found out that ammo had to be purchased, I said fine, I was expecting around $30 to $50 - not $150. We and everyone else in the store felt duped. Their online prices are FAR superior to their in store prices and they won't price match their own store. Skip the store and buy online. Even with the free CHL class, I likely won't go back. read more

I would not recommend this shop to anyone, especially if you are new to guns. I'm not exaggerating when I say they are charging 4-600 more for their guns than their competitors. I wasn't going to leave a review, but after one of the clerks (accidentally) pointed a gun at me I felt a need to. Please search around and find an alternative. You will be charged an arm and a leg for generic ARs and ammo, the staff didn't seem knowledgeable about pricing or even the guns themselves. read more

Buyer Be Informed I recently made a purchase here and had a pretty cool experience. I had read reviews along with owner responses and knew they were mixed. I actually thought some of the negative reviews were pretty funny. Yes, the building is unconventional. So if you're really stuck on a traditional "store" building, go somewhere else. If that's not so important, this could be the place to purchase your next firearm. Online prices not the same as in store - No kidding! Online purchases have to be sent to an FFL who will have to complete your government-required paperwork, conduct the NICS check and transfer the firearm. That costs money. Consider the online store a separate entity, not advertising for in-store prices. The Crazy Gun Dealer does not charge a transfer fee when you purchase in the store. Also, many of the great prices in store require an ammunition purchase. I found these ammunition prices to be a little high, but not outrageous, and still well worth it, given the weapon price. Remember, EVERY business has to make money. So don't expect something for nothing. I found accessory prices to be through-the-roof. Examples included a reticle sight priced at $80 when MSRP is $60 and I found elsewhere online for $50, a 4-way Weaver rail system for $60 that I could find online for $20 and a bipod for $60 that I found online for $12. So be informed about what you're buying, get the firearm and ammo and move on! :-) I had a great experience here and would go back again. Pros: An informed buyer can get some great deals here on firearms from some friendly Texans. Cons: Ammo is a little pricey and accessories appear to be significantly more expensive than you will find elsewhere. Bottom Line: If you're in the area and in the market for a firearm, there are some great deals to be had at the Crazy Gun Dealer. Just be informed on pricing and know that some items will be a really good deal and other items are very pricey. read more

We drove to Alvarado based on advertising of low prices On guns & ammo. While waiting on background check, we looked the gun up online. The price here at Crazy Gun Guy was $699, online and other stores, the gun was priced $409-$429 (at Point Blank). After back ground check we ask why there was such a price difference, the clerk stammered around & said online prices are lower. Also stating the gun was very difficult to find in stock. We later contacted the owner about the High price gouging and requested a refund. He said all sales are final. He eventually said if we could buy it for $200 less somewhere else and bring the new gun & receipt to Alvarado (over an hour drive for us) by 6pm he would refund our entire purchase. When we arrived & introduced ourselves he was loud & threatening toward us. We acknowledged the Final Sales stipulation and told him we appreciated his refunding. The owner said I don't appreciate the commits about Price Gouging and Bait & Switch advertising from us. I said be glad we didn't go on Yelp and review your business. He got up from his desk and stormed toward us. He was yelling in my face and I began recording him yelling. He screamed no videoing in the store & ordered me to leave. I did out of concern for his belligerent actions toward me leave the store. Heads up to anyone thinking they are going there for a 'good deal', don't waste your time. Came on the 4th of July (2020) for their sale, it was my first time there. I did research and the past 4th of July sales seemed to be great. The advertisement I heard on the radio specified that one could choose a 22LR revolver or rifle for $100 plus an ammunition purchase. We had to wait in line, under the sun and heat, for 2 hours, the store is really small and couldn't hold an appropriate amount of people. When I finally got in, their sale products were really, really disappointing; a "brandless" revolver that resembled a kids toy and that a small single shot rifle with two barrel options; less than good quality. They had 2 self serve jugs of cold water for people waiting under the sun. They also have a lot of space to improve customer service wise. read more

They will do whatever it takes to make the sell but once they get your money they treat you like you don't exist. I had to go back after my background check came back in when I went back I had to stand in the cold and rain for 3 hours just to pick up my gun. Wouldn't recommend anyone going here. read more

The next day I found the sam gun at multiple stores for $269.00 And they charge and extra 4% of you use a credit card. Have yet to actually purchase a gun from here, but from what I observed and heard when inside, it looked well organized inside, they had a nice, decent sized selection of guns. I've seen past reviews and read bad comments on staff, but the staff now seems very professional and friendly, much more active than as described in past reviews. Not only that, but I could hear the orientation of a new hire, the lady explaining everything was going through a lot of what she expects from him. I just really thought that was great. I was very glad to be asked if I was being helped, even though I hadn't expected to be asked that since I am 18 and most gun stores seem to avoid the younger customers, but I've got a whole different perspective for Crazy Gun Dealers for that reason, kudos to that employee. If you purchase from them, they offer a free CHL or License to Carry class, where you have just pay for your ammo, lunch and class/shooting supplies. Instructor is good, but not for the easily offended or faint of heart. :-) Be prepared for a full day of class (about 8 hours, including lunch). I noticed MANY reviews are low merely because "i thought the store would be bigger" or "it was too crowded". Really? Rate upon genuine facts. The employees were working non stop. I recently had a new rifle ordered with these good people. Had a good experience with these nice folks. J D is great and was most helpful. As for pricing even when adding in the shipping / transfer fee they made me a good deal. While I was there I also purchased 250 rounds of ammo for $89.95. I did find out later that I could have purchased the same brand and amount from a big box retailer for around $69.00. However.... even adding back that extra twenty bucks these folks are delivering the rifle I wanted at a good value in a fun & friendly atmosphere. I'm still money ahead and I'm doing business with nice local folks. This place isn't fancy, but it is fun. And fun works. I can update this when my rifle is delivered next week. Hubby and I drove over one hour to Alvarado from Dallas, and regret the waste of time. All of their advertising on country radio lead us to believe this place was worth a drive. The customer service is horrible and on the borderline of rude. Bearly acknowledged us, but the sales lady about tripped over herself to help someone she recognized. The choices are terrible and the pistols available were covered in dust as if someone just dug it out of a hole in the ground. They will not sell ammo unless you buy a firearm from them. Then the owner will blast you on your opinion of his business ethics and tell you that you have to click on another page on his website to know that you have no idea what you are going to pay until you make the drive because they wont tell you the real price of the gun over the phone. Price gouging on guns and ammo, $75 for 50 rounds of off brand target .38 ammo is insane. Almost all guns are hundreds above retail value, some even double retail price. Extremely long wait times outside. They do have tons of selections to choose from, but are definitely ripping people off because everywhere else is sold out. read more
