Rooms are cute and comfortably decorated. Mini frig and microwave. Bathroom was quite large, but vanity was way too small for any useful purpose than simply a sink. Also, beware of floor and shower area, as it can be quite slippery when wet. No hair dryers, so bring one if needed. The price was reasonable, but the view was priceless. Relaxing and cozy. We would stay here again if in the area.

It was clean except for one thing - an overly pervasive smell of cat pee in the room. There are feral cats everywhere (which wasn't a problem because I love cats) but how that smell got in the room I can only guess. The smell seemed to get stronger as the night went on. Now this is a unique "park" where it's not easy just to find where the trail begins. BUT once we…read morelearned why it's called 'Explore' Park, our first visit here became absolutely engrossing. After turning into Roanoke River Parkway from Blue Ridge Parkway, drive past several lookouts and the park entrance. Keep driving past Arthur Taubman Center on your left and down a gravel road where you'll eventually find the parking lot for the 'explore' part of this park. At least two entrances exist, and it doesn't matter which one you start on since the trails meet, crisscross, and loop. Just watch out for signs along the way. I like that it's a trail in a natural setting with lots of trees, but what really makes this park unique is the endless stone and wood structures and buildings you come across randomly throughout the trail. It was actually so bizarre and mysterious that I didn't even think to take any pictures. There's a house that used to be a family home but is now empty, and you can take a peek inside since all the structures are inaccessible to visitors. We came on a weekday, and the only other people we saw were kids in the parking lot and a person walking their dog. Okay, slightly spooky this place, but I wouldn't want it any other way...well, maybe if we could walk inside the buildings it'd be even more fun.

I'm not really sure what her purpose was or what she's supposed to be doing but she interrogated my family the entire time. She kept asking us how many people are supposed to be coming and kept saying "this isn't the place to have a party." She butted into every single conversation we had and was breathing down our necks the entire time. Literally every time any of us used the trash can, she changed the trash like she was annoyed we were using it. I swear the trash was changed 7 times in short amount of time we were there. I didn't mind changing it when we were done either. She screamed at one of my family members very loudly over something he said in a PRIVATE conversation he was having with one of my other family members. Mind you, the conversation had nothing to do with her or the lake. She also screamed at somebody else's kids because they were throwing sand. I understand not throwing it at people but there was nobody around and they were just being kids. My family and I did nothing wrong and I don't think it's fair that we were made this uncomfortable at a public lake. We are good people. We minded our business, were polite, cleaned up after ourselves, and even fed the lady because that's the kind of people we are. I understand if we were being rowdy but we were just literally enjoying family time together. Definitely will never be going back to this lake again.

He did a great job of instructing her on what to do while she was riding Boomer. I got to ride on Grace and my wife got to ride on Ranger. We had an awesome time and can't wait to come back again. The center was clean and it wasn't too loud like other centers I've been to in the past. They offer Monday specials and other special events. Good music. Affordable skate rental and laser tag, arcade and play zone equipment for younger children. The snack bar is affordable. We will definitely be back for the next homeschool skate and are so grateful they are willing to sponsor such a great event for homeschooled children in the valley.
