I believe that the shop is owned and run by a mother/daughter duo. However, if there are other staff working in the shop they're totally unknown. I've been shopping here since they opened but the shop always seems understaffed. When the owner is in she is attentive to her customers but that's about it. Many times I've gone in and no one has been at the counter instead people have been at the tables in the rear room talking and chatting. However, you don't know who works there. The last time I went in, Sunday, October 17, no one even acknowledged that I was there. I walked the store several times looking for something in particular but since I wasn't sure who it was that was working in the shop and who was a customer I didn't ask for any help. That seems to be the constant in the shop. It's great that they're so friendly if you are friends with the staff because otherwise...who knows. I haven't taken any of their classes. I don't think they have a great deal of variety for settings or findings, but they have a lovely selection of beads. Prices are a tad bit higher than across the street at Gifts of Avalon but they are a good balance to Gifts of Avalon. They carry similar beads, some of the same, but they have a bunch of items that aren't the same which is nice to create variety in Gainesville.

(There is so e seating inside, tons outside) They have serve beverages...coffee, tea, sparking waters (the cardamom black tea was amazeballs) and have some baked good. Their offerings focus on banned books, and Floriduh has lots of banned books. They also have a pretty good autobiography section as well as history and current events. Of course a large chunk is fiction with some signed editions from the owner and other authors who have been in the shop. I of course took a signed edition of a Lauren Groff title home They also have fun stickers, mugs, bags, cards, totes, and others kinds of fun reading and writing accessories for very reasonable prices. Of course they have adorable little stuffed animals....as in lynxes. While there I also noticed fliers for various book groups, author events, readings etc. I believe they also collaborate with area libraries. Recently they gave away free copies of banned books at a local parade--activism for intellectual freedom is of utmost urgency!!! I LOVE this bookstore and I'm sad it opened when I am about to move out of town. I hope the rest of Gainesville will too and make it thrive because it is a gem. The place is huge, and is a great area to browse, but after 45 minutes I found nothing in here. They have a really nice glass display case line-up near the front, but it was more like a museum than an antique store to me. (Who's going to pay a few thousand for a bottle???!!!) They have a lot of larger items here, but I'm more of a trinket kind of person, so my interest wasn't held that long. That, and the prices were steep, even for antiques. Overall, I wouldn't go here again, even out of boredom.
