Before any materials were ordered or work began, we submitted the required application to our HOA for approval. Unfortunately, the HOA denied the request and would only approve a black metal fence. As soon as I received the denial, I contacted Fence Mall and explained the situation. Since I specifically wanted a vinyl fence, I decided not to move forward with the project and requested my deposit back. They agreed to refund it, but told me they would keep 35% of my deposit as a cancellation fee. $600 To my knowledge, no materials had been ordered and no installation work had started because everyone was waiting for the HOA's decision. Despite that, they kept approximately $600 from my deposit. I understand that businesses need cancellation policies, but charging such a large fee before any materials were purchased or work was performed is unfair. I was unable to proceed due to circumstances outside of my control, and I don't believe keeping hundreds of dollars in this situation is reasonable. Specially with todays economy I hope Fence Mall reconsiders how it handles situations like this, because it left me feeling like I paid $600 for absolutely nothing. I encourage anyone considering using them to carefully read the cancellation terms before signing a contract. Or just wait for your association approval before giving deposit ...

He provided a formal estimate the next day. I also received estimates from two other companies. Robert's Fence Mall estimate was within the estimates of the other companies. I chose Fence Mall because of outstanding reviews and Robert's attention to detail. The installation crew arrived on time, with all the necessary materials and expertise. Within several hours the doors were completed and properly installed. They did an excellent job. The doors are well built, very sturdy, and high quality materials. First- customer service and beginning of the process was very good. From the quote to the install was pretty good. The quote- we received a couple different quotes for two different types of fences. We had large bushes that would need to be trimmed back. The team had a guy come out to find the survey pegs. He said they trim them bushes all the time. I was told only thing on the bushes that would be extra outside of the quote would be to have them hauled away. We opted to dispose of them ourselves. - in the end they added $80 to the invoice for the trimming. I told them they should have included that when they came out. The install- the day of the install nobody showed up. Nobody called. My wife waited half a day and called. They said they were running behind and would call right back. Nobody ever called. Install day- showed up after calling and install began. We have irrigation and the installers installed on the front of the sprinkler heads. Would recommend that they check that prior to installing in the future. A little old lady is not going to be able to tell the installers where all her irrigation heads are. Fence was completed with the exception of two panels which had to be completed after inspection. Called about 4 days after to find when the inspector would be coming. Was told the permit would be hung and inspection on Thursday or Friday. Saturday came and Sunday came and nothing. Allied the Tuesday after and was told they would schedule its finally Friday came and the inspection was done. Was told they would finish the panels on Saturday. Saturday came and nobody showed. Called next week and finally got a response. Overall the fence is a fence and it works. The communication of this company is terrible. If someone is gonna be late or not show, call the customer, instead of the customer having to keep calling And quote for the price based on the job instead of raising the price when complete.

He handled everything from measuring, providing advice, county permits to complete installation. His crew took two days to complete the job. The first day was devoted to tearing down the old fence. The second day was devoted to setting the new fence. All of their posts were concreted in. The gate is solid with upgraded hardware. My neighbors saw what they had done and actually had their fence replaced by the same company. I'm very happy with everything they have done. Couldn't ask for a better outcome.

To begin with customer service is paramount to me. If you say you're going to do something, then do it. To wit, follow up phone calls when you say you will. Tom Roderick left a message on his voicemail that he would be returning to work by April 28, but he listens to and follows up on all is voicemails. Unfortunately, this was not the case as I had to call him twice more after the 28th- he never contacted me. When we did manage to meet at my house to survey the property, he informed me that he would have a quote ready by noon the next day and that I would be contacted. Suffice to say that "email" came two hours late. Continuing, when I asked , via email, if we "Backyard Fence" could present a slightly better offer, I was sent a terse response from Susan Roderick that their "quote is not negotiable". I believe such hardline responses such as that are not the best customer service responses. The above may seem trivial to some, but I am the customer- not "Backyard Fence".
