After making seeming repetitive repairs to my old vehicle, I finally decided that it was time for me to begin the process of car-searching, and thus apply for a car loan. Coincidentally enough, my family had just purchased a newer car through the help of Brooke Mercer, and recommended that I reach out to her for her assistance. Not only was she an effective communicator and consistently got back to me as fast as possible throughout the entire process, but she was also sure to answer all of my questions, provide incredibly helpful insight when I was in need of clarification, and was there to guide me as I proceeded with both my loan application and eventual car purchase/selection of loan options. With Brooke's help, my loan process went over entirely smooth, and as easy as I could've ever hoped for! I needed to do a money transfer to purchase a new home something I had never done before. I tried to go through the process the night before following the instructions of the escrow company had sent me and spent hours trying to access the information I needed with no success. I went to the Credit Union 1 in Rantoul Il early the next morning expecting to spend allot of time there and unsure of how successful I was going to be. I believe I was the first customer there and told Kristin my problem and what I was trying to do. Since it was so early Taylor and Nelma also came over and assisted me. Not only did they help me get all of the paperwork done but they also assisted in contacting the escrow company to ensure that everything they required was done properly. The entire job was done in minutes and Kristin, Taylor and Nelma were awesome. They were all very knowledgeable in what needed to be done and I'm thankful they were there. Thanks so much to Debbie McDonald in Credit Card Services for her assistance in resolving some issues with my account. She took the time to verify his authorization to allow me to speak on his behalf due some ongoing medical issues. Once she got his approval and learned more about our circumstances, she shared options with us to make things even smoother for us. To expedite things for us, she even emailed us forms as opposed to mailing them. Because this particular issue had been on-going for a while and one, we thought had been corrected, I was not feeling positive about another conversation with Credit Union 1. On 5/15/2023 I logged on to Credit Union 1 to make sure the recurring payment I setup went thru. To my surprise and dismay I had setup 3 recurring payments instead of 1. I called Credit Union 1 and we worked on trying to stop all 3 payments from going through. Then I logged on the my bank account and all 3 did process for payment. Panicking I called the number I had saved from a previous time for Erika Pyle, I left a message I wasn't sure she'd understand. Well first thing this morning Erika called me back to see if I had resolved the issue. I was so grateful, Erika walked me through the changes we needed to make to get some money back in my account. My debit card was compromised over the weekend and I filed a dispute to have the charges reversed. Ms. Debbi McDonald, Credit Union 1's most valuable employee, contacted me to assist in disputing the charges. The company that compromised my account tried to say that I mistakenly read the disclaimer when I placed the order. Ms. Debbi was persistent on having a full refund to my account while the company wanted to only refund 40% of an item I never purchased. Ms. Debbi remained very professional while I, on the other hand, was getting upset. After Ms. Debbie provided an example of receiving 40% funds for an item that was never purchased nor received, the unknown company representative agreed to refund 100% of my funds. We were in a panic when one of Credit Cards was marked for Fraud on the day we were supposed to be traveling. Calling the 800 number on the card did not provide any resolution and disconnected our calls twice, so it took a physical trip to the CU1 Branch in Springfield where a teller was able to connect me with Debbi McDonald who is a superb Card Services Representative and she was able to resolve the mix up and we were able to complete travel obligations without worrying about whether we would have problems using our Credit Card or being denied services on our credit card. This is a letter of sincere appreciation to Debbi McDonald, a stellar card service representative for Credit Union 1 based in Rantoul, Il. After I paid off a loan, I received a notice that I owed 11 cents. That later turned into a $24.01 late fee, and I heard "Send in the Clowns" from way too many CU1 employees after that. Although Ms. McDonald's job has nothing to do with solving my vexing problem, she took care and interest in this client of CU1 and made said problem go away. Customer Service is great! Someone got ahold of my debit card information and my card was restricted from making purchases. I contacted Credit Union 1 and they were unable to help me, so they referred me to one of their branches. Pablo, the branch manager at Logan Square and Debbi McDonald over in Rantoul were very patient, informative and helped me figure out why my card had been restricted. Hello, I just want to say that CU#1 has great employees. Naming two of them Melisa Roberts And Teri Post. I lived in Rantoul from 1971, to 2008 came back for few years and moved again in 2014. We still bank with Credit Union #1 even though we live in Tennessee. If it weren't for these two employees Especially Teri Post, I would be in a world of hurt. I had the best experience with Debbie....I have been waiting for my dispute to be completed for a while, and when I spoke to her she could sense that I was upset. She was Very patient with me, and assured me that everything was going to be taken care during our phone call, and it was. She walked me through how to set up my card app, where I was able to add my credit card to it, as well as re-order me a new debit card, because I never received the last one. I had some issues with a stop payment situation and could not find the right branch to contact to resolve this issue. I live in California which have no branches so I called the Rantoul office and Kristen Wyatt the Assistant Branch Manager assisted me every step of the way.
