    ATV through Bachlor Loop

Good customer service is hard to find in today's world. However you will find GREAT customer service at Snowshoe Lodge. We honestly didn't know what to expect when we booked our last min early arrival stay in Creede. What we ended with was a place we definitely plan to return to. YOU WILL NOT FIND BETTER HOSTS then the couple who runs Snowshoe. Rooms super clean and cute. We booked a last minute ATV and traveled the Bachlor loop. The host took the time to sit us down and walk through the map which I really appreciated. It kept us out of trouble and we hit all the great spots only the locals know about... PS you Have to try out Opies for breakfast.. hands down the BEST "complimentary" breakfast burrito we have ever had.. just Great.. stop reading.. book it .

Although I wasn't able to stay there, I did talk to some people that were renting rooms. They said the rooms were very clean, tidy in quite large. I love the artwork on the doors I can only give a good review on the good reviews of people that were staying there. I WOULD stay there in the future.

Great place to crash and for ATV rentals. Super nice people. ATVs are all in great shape and we had a hoot going to Phoenix Park Falls in their Kawasaki Mule. Room was nice and clean and the price was right. When you're in Creede you should spend as much time away from your room as possible. Be well in these crazy Covid times. We will be back. Thanks!

Update: Instead of taking the time to look into my complaints, Shane from the Snowshoe sent me a Yelp "compliment" saying "We look forward to you never returning" and then proceeded to mark my review as "funny" moments later. If this is the type of business ethics they keep, I hope other people never visit too. My same review was post on Atlas Guides aka Guthooks for other Colorado Trail thru-hikers and I have since received similar comments and complaints from other thru-hikers on the Colorado Trail. Original Review: Normally this is might be a nice hotel with a lot of amenities for the area. The rooms are very clean. The owners are very friendly and supportive of whatever journey you might be on until your views conflict with their very conservative bias. I rated one star off for four serious reasons. The first reason being this hotel is not COVID-19 ready and actively refuses to uphold the Colorado State mandated public and business required mask policy. Also the wifi is basically useless. I can't even get a stable connection in their lobby for 5 minutes. In my room I can't connect at all. The signal strength in my room is -80 dB which is basically a whisper of a signal and isn't rated usable. The fire extinguisher was expired and the recessed ceiling light fixture including the heat lamp looks like a fire hazard. I probably won't be staying here again and you should pass it on this one too since this place is a giant fire hazard and the owners expressed opinions that liberal hikers are what "is really wrong with this country".

Our room was clean, comfortable and well worth the price. Next time we are in the area the Snowshoe Lodge is where we'll stay.

San Juan Ranch is one of my favorite places on Earth! Located 20 miles outside of Creede, the next…read morebig town is Lake City and there is fishing all around. This ranch has approximately 30 cabins, including pioneer and moderns options. Some are more traditional, some are fancy and some are roughing it. There's a variety of sizes and setups. Regulars that come every year are seasonal from May through September, leaving a handful of cabins to be rented out a week at a time, from Saturday to Saturday. The view is breathtakingly gorgeous. My favorite thing to do is to settle on the porch and watch the mountains with my morning coffee... it's like a painting. The atmosphere is very relaxed and everyone is very kind, always waving and stopping to chat. We generally get modern cabins, which are 2-3 bedrooms, include a bathroom, electricity and running water. We've stayed in a nicer pioneer before... but I'm a city girl. There is no television or telephone, you can go into Creede for wifi. I go out there to get away from those things and I enjoy the hell out of it when I do. My husband likes to fish and I like to see how many books I can read and then of course we'll do some shopping and dining out in town. Furniture and linens are provided, but you need to bring your own towels, dish rags, soap, sponges, cleaning supplies (broom and dust pan provided) and don't forget the toilet paper! Dishes and cookware are provided, but bring foil and spices with your supplies. The Kentucky Bell in town is expensive so bring as much of your food from home as you can and pick up left behind items in Alamosa or South Fork. Every cabin has a percolator, but coffee pots aren't guaranteed. The great thing about these cabins is that so many people choose to make them homey, so it's common for someone to bring up a coffee maker and leave it in the cabin. I always bring a cheap one unless I am getting a cabin I have stayed in before. Most cabins have a rotating library which is nice for mixing up the selection and also that I don't have to lug the books back when I'm done reading them. Thursday nights there are cook outs where you can bring a dish and socialize and I love the comradery and food! Check in is Saturday afternoon, check out is the following Saturday by 10am. Though they clean the cabins and linens after checkout, you should really clean up after yourself by leaving the dishes clean, trash taken out and floors swept/mopped. One of the rules is that you have to use their black trash bags, so that's one thing you don't need to bring. There are a lot of Texans here every summer, but I see people from all over. Everyone here is very respectful and by that I mean the guests of the ranch, so act in kind. This isn't the type of place for people wanting a full service experience, this is the place you go to commune with nature and get away. They have no website, you need to write to the owners to reserve a cabin. You could call, but they are very busy running a ranch, writing is better. It's getting more difficult to get a cabin during the busy months like July. This last year we had to stay elsewhere because they were booked up, but it's such a wonderful place you have to try at least once. I think chances might be better May, June and September. I have gone 6 years in a row and it's one of my favorite places in the world. I hope to be able to return year after year. Highly recommend (just in case you couldn't tell)!

Comfortable queen size bed in bedroom and twin bunks built into the hallway next to the bathroom. The shower is a corner shower with a curtain and a rain can shower head, so you have to shower against the wall to avoid the curtain touching you. There were shampoo and body wash in dispensers on the shower wall. There was a hairdryer under the bathroom sink. They provided dawn dish soap, a coffee maker, and a full sized refrigerator. We stayed in #5, and apart from the shower, felt it was comfortable for overnight. The tile floor gets pretty cold still in June, so bring flip flops or slippers if you're cold natured. The cabin is right along route 149 as it comes into Creede, so it's a convenient walk into town, with an in town view. The rental doesn't include breakfast, but MJ's is a very short walk, and they had a great home style breakfast special for under $10. Thanks for a great stay.
