We have stayed at Snowshoe many times over the past five years and every stay was just wonderful. Clean rooms,with space, comfortable. The cabins are pretty new and clean and comfortable. We go during the off season so the kitchen really overcomes the search for food. Ha-ha. Shane and Jennifer are not only great hoteliers but they have opened a restaurant, Opies, located right there. Good customer service is hard to find in today's world. However you will find GREAT customer service at Snowshoe Lodge. We honestly didn't know what to expect when we booked our last min early arrival stay in Creede. What we ended with was a place we definitely plan to return to. YOU WILL NOT FIND BETTER HOSTS then the couple who runs Snowshoe. Rooms super clean and cute. We booked a last minute ATV and traveled the Bachlor loop. The host took the time to sit us down and walk through the map which I really appreciated. It kept us out of trouble and we hit all the great spots only the locals know about... PS you Have to try out Opies for breakfast.. hands down the BEST "complimentary" breakfast burrito we have ever had.. just Great.. stop reading.. book it . read more

Although I wasn't able to stay there, I did talk to some people that were renting rooms. They said the rooms were very clean, tidy in quite large. I love the artwork on the doors I can only give a good review on the good reviews of people that were staying there. I WOULD stay there in the future. read more

Great place to crash and for ATV rentals. Super nice people. ATVs are all in great shape and we had a hoot going to Phoenix Park Falls in their Kawasaki Mule. Room was nice and clean and the price was right. When you're in Creede you should spend as much time away from your room as possible. Be well in these crazy Covid times. We will be back. Update: Instead of taking the time to look into my complaints, Shane from the Snowshoe sent me a Yelp "compliment" saying "We look forward to you never returning" and then proceeded to mark my review as "funny" moments later. If this is the type of business ethics they keep, I hope other people never visit too. My same review was post on Atlas Guides aka Guthooks for other Colorado Trail thru-hikers and I have since received similar comments and complaints from other thru-hikers on the Colorado Trail. Original Review: Normally this is might be a nice hotel with a lot of amenities for the area. The rooms are very clean. The owners are very friendly and supportive of whatever journey you might be on until your views conflict with their very conservative bias. I rated one star off for four serious reasons. The first reason being this hotel is not COVID-19 ready and actively refuses to uphold the Colorado State mandated public and business required mask policy. Also the wifi is basically useless. I can't even get a stable connection in their lobby for 5 minutes. In my room I can't connect at all. The signal strength in my room is -80 dB which is basically a whisper of a signal and isn't rated usable. The fire extinguisher was expired and the recessed ceiling light fixture including the heat lamp looks like a fire hazard. I probably won't be staying here again and you should pass it on this one too since this place is a giant fire hazard and the owners expressed opinions that liberal hikers are what "is really wrong with this country". read more

Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is abundant, well lit, and safe. The surrounding property is quiet. It's within walking distance to everything in creed. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast is free, and there's a breakfast restaurant next door. They do rentals, too. read more

Stopped in to inquire about renting an ATV for a day. The owners were extremely nice and helpful. The price was cheaper then anywhere else we looked. The Mule we rented was clean and in great mechanical condition. We enjoyed every second of our experience. Shane made it easy for us to find our way around by spending time to go over a trail map and what to expect along the way. When we got back to drop off the mule Shane and Jennifer were both genuinely interested in hearing about our experience and ensured we had a great time. 5 stars for customer service and 5 stars for the equipment and experience we had. read more

We stayed at Snowshoe Lodge this summer. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Shane and Jennifer were excellent hosts. The breakfast was amazing (egg casserole, fruit, homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee, ... can I say more?) We rented a mule one day and it was in brand-new condition. Shane gave us very good advice on where to go and how much time it would take. We definitely would stay there again and can wholeheartedly recommend Snowshoe Lodge. read more

I've been coming to Creede from Durango Colorado to fly fish the Rio Grande River for years. I love this motel that's a throwback to the 1950's when we had better times and better dispositions. (One of the lodges rooms use to house John Wayne back in the '60s when he made movies.) I enjoy the owners immensely as they keep a tidy motel; serve a good breakfast; are friendly and available if you need anything. What I can't stand, even though I'm a lefty liberal myself, is all the snarky comments made from outside whiners who complain about this or that (ie. Covid protocols, the WIFI signal, the lamp in the corner)... or whatever else is wrong with their lives. For God's sake get a life. Enjoy the historical town of Creede (1880's), the motels ambience, the beautiful headwaters of the Rio Grande River. I typically visit this motel two or three times a summer as a fishing base, and I'm coming back again and again and again. Count me as an avid supporter of the both the owners and this old timer's motel. I wish America had more motels like the historical Snowshoe Lodge. read more

We had a wonderful 9 days in Creede, from the beautiful area to our hospitable stay at the Snowshoe Lodge. Jen and Shane are so delightful, helpful, kind and accommodating. They are family to us now. We can't wait to go back! The room was so huge, comfortable, and refreshed every day. The breakfast was fantastic! We looked forward to that every morning, especially the sausage potato casserole. New owners and super kind to boot. Stayed right next to the main office. The walls are paper thin in between the rooms and you can hear the tv and others talking in the room next door. The beds in the room we stayed were lacking in comfort IE: hard and in places lumpy (assume older, cheaper mattresses). 4 stars given for friendliness and great breakfast in the mornings! Would recommend if you're not necessarily looking for fancy, quiet, and super comfy beds. Had other family member that had a room across the street, and it was more updated and seemed bigger. The owners were very accommodating and we appreciated that very much. read more

It was enjoyable, clean and a great room UNTIL the housekeepers started pounding on my door at 10:30 demanding I leave so they could clean my room. I asked if checkout was still at 11? They said yes but they needed to clean my room and that I should leave. I've never had a maid stand in my doorway demanding that I leave so they could clean but I did so at the Snowshoe. As I was putting my stuff in my car, a man I assume was one of the managers came and told me I had to leave immediately since I was the last room and they, the maids, wanted to clean my room. I told him I'm on vacation and wasn't going to leave at 8:30 and if they wanted people out by 10:30 so the hired help could clean on their schedule then they should make checkout at 10AM. Maybe because it's high season and they are always booked that lets them allow maids to act that way to paying guests? I figured since it was a weekday and I had paid a couple of hundred $'s to stay there, then if I was a few minutes late (5 minutes, I kept time) it wouldn't be a federal offense. Apparently it was. As I stated earlier, everything was 5 Star until the in-your-face rudeness by housekeepers and their enforcer. Maybe over the slow Winter season they should provide training to their staff on how to treat customers. read more

Our family of 8 stayed for 5 nights in August 2013. The lodge exceeded our expectations in every way. The proprietors live on site and they assure quality in all the lodge offers. The breakfast is remarkable from the steel cut oats to a breakfast casserole, it is terrific. The lodge offers ATVs for rent and the views from the mountains will take your breath. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and I give it the highest recommendation. read more

Here is how nice these guys are: I was thru hiking the Colorado Trail this summer and hitch-hiked down to Creede to resupply. The town was packed with mineral show conventioneers. I asked the sweet couple who own the Lodge if they had a room available. They reluctantly let me know that they were all booked up for the night. I asked if I could pitch my tent on their property and they said that I absolutely could. The problem, though, was that a bear had been coming onto the property each night right by the area where I would be camping. Mountain bears don't concern me, but town bears do since they have a different set of expectations when it comes to finding food and if they don't find it...well, they can become disappointed and their behavior is not so predictable. The husband/owner said that I could sleep in the back of his pickup truck that was equipped with a secure topper. Relieved and grateful, I took them up on it and offered to pay but they wouldn't take my money. Really, just awesome people. They are very hiker friendly and offer showers, restroom and self-serve laundry at affordable rates, which is exactly what I needed. They also now offer hostel-style bunks (two are available) located in the laundry room for a low cost if all you need is a mattress/restroom/laundry for the night. I enjoyed their buffet breakfast the next morning and it was nothing short of fantastic. Plenty of hearty, homemade offerings. Thanks so much, guys. I'll be back someday. read more
