He's such a great horse but he likes to be very close at times. This was my very first time I didn't expect much. Can't speak to the lessons. But the trail ride was very lacking. You never actually leave the fence rail, as they just zig zag back and fourth without ever going anywhere. You do get to walk a few steps in a creek. The people were nice, horses were fine. The actual concept of a "trail" needs to be vastly improved. We could see the starting point thru the trees during mostly the whole ride. Def not a feeling of being out "on trail". Sorry I really wanted to love it. read more

If you are looking for an authentic experience with horses and REAL PEOPLE. You came to the right place. All the negative reviews I clicked through seem to be from folks who have been watching too much tv and have zero experience around animals or barns. The property is 50 acres, you don't need to leave it to have a Trail ride, barns and horses are dirty. The import thing is the animals are well tempered and happy, the staff is knowledgeable. If you want to a "posh" experience a real barn isn't the place for it and triple the price point. read more

We were visiting from out of state and loved Kris and the girls working at Creekside so much we are planning our next trip, soon. My 4 year old granddaughter had her first riding lesson and loved it. My 7 year old granddaughter went on the trail ride and was smiling from ear to ear. Creekside is the best! My four year old daughter and I just finished a trail ride. The guides were patient and very knowledgeable. This trail ride is a little more relaxed other's we've been on, which is good for groups with varying levels of experience with horses. Safety is their top priority. We did the 2 pm trail ride on a Saturday, our group consisted of 8 people and the horses were very well mannered.Being a beginner I wasn't sure what to expect however the staff was very friendly and informative. We called this morning to ask if they could accomadate our 9 yr old who really wanted a lesson, within 2 hours she was on a horse. Everyone was so incredibly nice. Her instructor was awesome. We are going back again tomorrow before we leave town for a second lesson. I highly recommend Creekside. read more

Very boring not worth the money. This place would be okay maybe for young children learning to ride for the very first time but not if you have had previous experience riding. not where you would go to see spectacular views of Tennessee and bond with your horse. We took a small short trail and that was it. I'd suggest trace stables where you can really get your moneys worth. Not to mention the lady who I'm pretty sure runs the place is miserable and needs to say smart remarks to make herself feel better. But all in all lame! read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would, but that is not an option. It should have been a red flag to me that they only had 5's or 1's as ratings, which tells me that the actual real customer reviews were bad (ones), and the 5's were bogus! Yelp needs to do a better job of policing "smurfs." We normally go to an amazing stable, but they were all booked up today, so we decided to take a chance on this place because we really wanted to ride today. Our regular stable that takes you on a 2-HOUR trail ride up, down, and over, the most beautiful lush green mountains, you feel as if you are on the very top of Tennessee looking down on it. The rolling hills are so vast and beautiful, I cannot put it into words. They also take you deep in REAL woods, and the most beautiful large, full, creeks. The atmosphere makes you feel like you were transported to Heaven! From Creeksides' deceiving website, it APPEARED to be similar to our usual place, so we booked it. We arrived exactly on time. No sign telling where to go after we parked, we had to add our info and signature onto someone ELSE'S waiver, no blank ones! No direction on how to pay, no one working? Just a whole bunch of women on a golf cart, chatting, totally ignoring the customers. We figured it all out ourselves!!?? And then we waited.......and we waited..........and we waited,...........and we waited......After about 30 minutes past our PLANNED start time, I asked when we were starting and was told they were waiting for the group that started before us to come back from THEIR trail ride. Apparently, they started late also. 15 minutes LATER, 45 TOTAL minutes late, we began. I asked if I could pick out my horse, was rudely told "NO, horses were assigned" (except for this one girl who apparently got to pick her horse!? OKAY? Golf cart lady let us know that) and we mounted. The "trail" was comical and had NO upkeep, branches were at face level and we had to stay ducked down most of the time because of it. Branches on either side were in our way as well. We rode back and forth at the FENCE of the property!No joke! Then we crossed a "creek" with about an INCH of water in it, and that was the END of the trail ride. About 35 minutes. I swear, I thought I was being punked! Oh, did I mention the 10 or so CHILDREN who were "helping" out all day (free child labor-they were doing EVERYTHING)? Loading us on and off the horses (dangerously too close to the backs of the horses, with no one caring or looking out for them). The golf cart lady was rude, had no self-awareness, could not care less about making the customer happy, ran everything on HER time, not our scheduled times, was more interested in her friends than customers, and was super rude to the unpaid child laborers that were happily helping her, angrily yelling at them when they did something she did not like or want them to do. Funny thing,-the kids were better ambassadors of that business than the employees. They had friendly, informative, customer-centric attitudes, etc., they are kids that pay to take lessons there, so they were probably told this was an "internship", to have a reason to use them for free unappreciated labor. Our trail guide did not speak loud enough for anyone more than 4 horses back to hear what he was saying, which is a safety issue, especially for new riders who need instruction and guidance. He should have had a megaphone or someone else helping at the caboose. The big BRIGHT LIGHT in this whole miserable experience was a sweet TSU student who works there-riding instructor-and helps out on foot during the trail rides. Her name is Milan. She cared way more about customer service and BEING of service and being helpful and having a great attitude than the golf cart lady, our tour guide, or anyone else who was in charge. I'm still not exactly sure what role the golf cart lady plays in all of this. Horses didn't get a rest from one group ride to the next, SMH! ANIMAL ABUSE! The grounds were very sad and thirsty looking, the stables were looked rough too. But did make sure that they had A LOT of signs asking you "not to forget to tip", though! Which I thought was hysterical since it was basically "self-serve/figure it out yourself" style except for the help of the FREE underappreciated child labor and Milan. I asked Milan for her Venmo and gave HER a $20 tip. She was the only adult working there that deserved it-she is the only reason they didn't get ZERO stars!! Do yourself a FAVOR-drive to Primm Springs, TN, & enjoy "NATCHEZ TRACE STABLES." You will receive great customer service, by friendly, happy staff, beautiful, rested, well taken care of horses, the most amazing real green mountain scenery, and true FULL/WIDE creeks. TWO HOURS of trail rides, instead of a sad 35 minutes (they promise, but don't deliver, 45 minutes) at Creekside, being cramped on a tiny, unkempt, claustrophobic, fake trail, beside a metal fence! I really, really wanted to like this place. It's only 10 minutes from our new house in Thompson's Station, TN. My 8-year old daughter has been taking horseback riding lessons for a year where we are from over in the Mt. Juliet area, and we found this place online, saw all the great reviews, and came in for a lesson. The farm is beautiful. Lots of beautiful horses, lots of land, etc. The main lady in charge (I assume the owner) is very nice and very knowledgeable. However, the issue here is supervision. As a 15-year teacher, I can tell you that these kids were simply not well-supervised, especially when you are talking about animals that outweigh them by hundreds of pounds and which can be unpredictable at times. Our daughter was in a lesson taught by a girl who at very best was 18 years old, and who I suspect was more along the lines of 15 or 16. This girl was teaching both my daughter and another girl at the same time, both on different horses. Because of this, it was pretty impossible for her to see what was going on with both of the students at any given time unless the two horses were together (they often weren't together, and she often had her back to my daughter). This became obvious when my daughter's horse just walked off on its own, around the fence and pulling my daughter through a bunch of tree limbs. Even when the girl saw this happening, she did not immediately run the 75 feet (why was she ever this far away in the first place?) or so to get to my daughter... she at first walked, then finally ran over to get the horse and bring it back into the main arena. Why they have gaps in their fences with no gates I do not understand, but it's definitely a problem, because this horse could literally have taken off running down that fence beside the woods, and no one would have been able to stop it. Did the owner see any of this happen? No, because she was otherwise occupied. There were also summer camps going on, all of which again were taught by girls younger than 18, and not supervised by any adult. There was one group of small children out there in the arena where my daughter was having her lesson, and they weren't separated from the horses by any fence or anything. At one point, my daughter's horse again decided it was again going to do whatever it wanted, and it headed over toward the children, in the process dragging my daughter through another tree. This endangered both my daughter and the group of children. Of course, I'm sure it was unlikely that the horse would have decided to just start running through that group of children, but I grew up around horses, and I was thinking, "What if a car backfires? What if someone shoots off some fireworks?" You can't just trust that animals as big and easily spooked as horses won't do something unpredictable. In the meantime, behind me were even more unsupervised kids working with horses. One boy was taking horses off their chains, walking them to get water, then bringing them back, while other smaller kids were talking and playing around the same horses. No supervising adult was near. After about 15 minutes of his doing this with the horses, another girl walked up and told him he wasn't supposed to be doing that. What? So he can do something like this around other small children for 15 minutes before someone realizes it, and even then, the person who realized it was another kid, no more than 15 years old, probably younger? If I were in charge of this place, here is what I would change: -lessons should have a 1 to 1 teacher/student ratio, especially with younger, less-experienced riders, and that person should stay close enough during the lesson to grab the bridle if needed. First lessons should be even more closely monitored until they find out what kind of rider the new student is (they seemed to work with my daughter as if she should already completely know what she was doing on a horse). -every group of 3 - 5 instructors younger than 18 years old or less experienced should have an experienced adult within easy reach at all times. My hope is that they will read this review and make some changes. But in the meantime, I also wanted people to be aware of these issues and plan accordingly. Especially if your child is small and can be a bit timid like mine, this may not be the place for you. The lady who I think is the owner told me Tennessee is a "no fault" state with regards to horses, which she said basically means they aren't responsible no matter what happens. That may be the case, but surely that doesn't mean they have no responsibility at all to make a safe environment for the kids who are taking horse lessons, right? By the way, after we left, no one ever contacted us or followed up on our experience or whether we might like to continue with lessons. It was as if we had never been there. read more

Had a great time at Creekside Riding Academy. My husband and daughters went on a trail ride, and enjoyed themselves. Staff was very friendly. The owner was very accommodating. The birthday girl turning 7 got scared and did not want to ride the horse, so the owner let her brush a pony. We even were able to clip the unicorn horn that I brought from home, and take pictures. I took my 11 year old daughter to Creekside for a riding lesson. She loves horses but has never ridden and was a little nervous. The instructors, Sammy, Gracie & Savannah were the best EVER! I've been here for eight years and its by far the best barn ever! safety is the first priority. i started in summer camp and its such a great opportunity for anyone who loves horses and is interested in riding and learning more about them. i have always seen this place as a second home and still do, its one of the safest place to ride and learn. i started just learning to trot and now I'm jumping 3"2-3"3! The trainers and people are so fun to be around and Mrs. kris has always been the best! i would definitely recommend this barn for anyone wanting to learn to ride or anyone who wants to continue learning, summer camp is so fun! i'm now teaching and having so much fun with it.
