I was seen by Dr Haynes. I am 62 years old. I have always seen Dr. Boney for the last five years up until today. This was the most horrifying, embarrassing, degrading, and discriminatory visit I have ever had in my life.at an OBGYN. DR. HAYNES SHOVED AN UNLUBRICATED SPECULUM INTO ME AND WHEN IT DIDN'T FIT, AND SHE SAID IT WAS TOO LARGE SHE INSERTED ANOTHER ONE AFTER GRABBING IT OUT OF THE CABINET YET AGAIN unlubricated I NEVER RECEIVED A RECTAL EXAM AND THE BREAST exam WAS CURSORY AT BEST. THIS WAS THE MOST HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD IN MY TIME ON THIS PLANET WITH AN OB/GYN. I'm certain that Dr. Haynes will probably lie because she could get in a lot of trouble. I'm not through pursuing consequences for this either with the board at Middlesex or the department of public health. In addition when I left, the staff was nowhere to be found at their desks as they were too busy either eating a snack or lunch or on their phones in their break room this is the most unprofessional experience in an office I've ever been to in my life. read more

after years and years of going to Crescent st OBGYN, all i can say is save yourself the grief of ever going to this place. after years of painful, irregular periods, and having problems conceiving, the doctors there only push for birth control. they do not listen to the problems you are having, they rather push a pill to mask the actual problem. ive been to the hospital multiple times for menstrual related problems, with follow ups with Crescent st shortly after, there only problem solving was to push for birth control instead of trying to find out the cause to the issues i was having. after leaving this place and finding another doctor, the first visit i had with my new doctor confirmed that i had LATE stages of ENDOMETRIOSIS. now ladies save yourself before ever going to this so called doctors, they will not listen to you and concerns are not heard but only dismissed. good luck read more

Dr Flagg thought my problem was being overweight. I stopped going here over ten years ago. I go to St. Francis Hospital, Trinity of New England Obgyn for my care now. I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis and adenmyosis, not to mention the fibroids and PCOS. I had to have surgery twice just to remove all the endometrial tissue and scarring. I've been suffering with this since I was 16, I'm now 34. They could have alleviated a lot of my suffering had they just not said, "sorry you have to lose weight" and not pretend like endometriosis is a fake disease. Use contraceptives as a bandaid for a serious debilitating disease. I'm updating my review because I see other people are still suffering at the hands of these people. read more

I initially started going to this group because I wanted a doctor in Middletown, closer to home. I did a significant amount of research and found a doctor I thought I might like. Although I liked that doctor, she moved away after my first visit with her, and I was reassigned. Since the first visit, I have hated that the doctor doesn't make time to see you prior to going in the exam room. This is the first practice I've been to that doesn't allow for a quick chat with the doctor in their office. Everything feels rushed and like they're annoyed with spending time with their patients. I don't know about the other doctors at the practice but the doctor I saw was too caught up with the "guidance" and does not approach medical care with practicality or a patient centric mindset. If you ask to do something that is contrary to the "guidance" she will refuse. It's not even open to discussion. I'm sorry, but I can't stay with a doctor who doesn't believe that I have a choice in my own medical care. I moved practices this year. My new doctor is horrified that the doctor at Crescent St Ob Gyn had not ordered a mammogram once I turned 40. (Again, the "guidance") I also found out that she was WRONG when she called me with lab results last year. My new doctor pulled up the records on the hospital database and showed me my actual test results. I don't know if my prior doctor read the wrong person's results or what. The doctor had ordered additional procedures that I didn't want - that I begged her to reconsider, but she wouldn't, because of the "guidance". I ultimately just didn't go in for the procedure, thank goodness, since I now know that I didn't even need it! The practice actually cancelled my appointment due to snow, and I just didn't reschedule. I knew that snow storm was the universe's way of saving me from something I didn't want to do. But that didn't stop them from mailing me multiple letters and calling me multiple times, badgering me to come in. Again, all for a procedure that I now know was medically unnecessary. I would think they would double and triple check the results before ordering invasive procedures. read more

I have been a patient with this practice for over 10 years and not once have I ever had a bad experience, and not once did they push unnecessary meds or vaccines on me. They have addressed all of my concerns with the utmost respect and care. FYI I drive an hour for my annual visits. So I'm sure if I were 39 weeks pregnant and uncomfortable I'd be irritable too. Not sure what physicians can offer to the normal and natural aches and pains of pregnancy. I also receive post cards in the mail and being a small business owner who doesn't get a break on medical costs, I honestly don't think you can put a price on your health and well-being #justsaying! read more

Hello everyone, it's quite unfortunate to see the reviews I have seen on this place. Hopefully mine will help you since it's more recent. I have been in care with this OBGYN since I moved last minute from Florida to CT during my pregnancy. When I first moved out there I had went to the ER at Middlesex hospital twice. One time for really bad asthma and another time because I had a scare my baby wasn't moving enough. When I went I didn't have a OB yet because the one I was trying to work with was taking their sweet time with my records. A doctor called me shortly after leaving the ER inquiring about what OB was I with because they needed to send the records of me being at the ER. I told them how they were taking their time and I currently had no OB and they themselves offered to take me into their care at Crescent Street OBGYN when they seen I was being ignored and neglected and I needed a doctor asap because I was far into my pregnancy. Since the moment they took me in to ALL my appointments I have felt loved, welcomed,heard & cared for 100000%. I love how they try their best to do what's safest for the baby and natural unless they have no choice or unless you want it and it's safe. I knew after that I wanted to give birth at Middlesex Hospital which let me tell you, I ended up having to get induced and while people make it seem so scary and/or have traumatic experiences my doctors/nurses made it an experience I'll truly miss and I plan to give birth for any future babies their as well & be in the care of the same OBGYN. The only good doctor there is ERICA SMITH!!! She is the only reason why I am sticking with them through the rest of my pregnancy! Not only are the rest of the doctors, especially Dr. Flagg, judgmental, but the receptionists are very rude. Most tend to fat shame!!! I've been told multiple times to lose weight even though all my vitals are extremely healthy and I haven't gained weight at all during this pregnancy. I was double scheduled for an ultrasound, and when I called to inform them, the receptionist I spoke to cut me off multiple times, she told me to hold, then got back on the phone with a very harsh tone, and told me it was because I was morbidly obese and hung up the phone in my ear. I literally cried after that. When I looked at my MyChart online. It clearly states I just had the morbidly obese ultrasound a week ago. I called a couple more times and they insisted that I was incorrect and had to come in for a second ultrasound in a row. When I got to the ultrasound room, the technician then told me I didn't need an ultrasound. I didn't mind the mistake as much as how rude the receptionists were to me, WHEN I WAS CORRECT about them double scheduling me. I understand that being overweight can cause issues in pregnancy, but I am eating healthy, not gaining weight, and following protocol, so the attitudes are unnecessary. read more

I've been going to crescent street for a couple years now and I couldn't recommend a better OBGYN. I've Ben seen but almost every doctor during my recent pregnancy and all have been wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable. The nurses and ladies at the front desk are patient and friendly, and the ultrasound technicians are warm and friendly as well. I had a few miscarriages before my recent, successful pregnancy and everyone I worked with was so compassionate and reassuring. Genuinely good people! Honestly I've had a few phone interactions with this place and it made me reconsider going in as a new patient. The absolute worst as far as any kind of genuine friendliness or simple manners when dealing with whoever is taking incoming phone calls. Incredibly upset with the care I recently received. Doctor Flagg cared more about what I did for work than my overall health concerns. She wasn't interested in the sense of making small talk but to make me feel judged or less than. She did not address any of my health concerns and basically shrugged them off. What bothered me the most was that she did not talk me through the exam which made me feel violated and incredibly uncomfortable. Every patient knows that you are talked through appointments at the OBGYN. She went about the exam without warning or introduction. I've never experience bedside manner like this. Since my original review I have now delivered my child. I can not come up with any complaints about the treatment I received while pregnant. Each visit was a pleasant experience and I always felt all of my questions were answered. Towards the end of my pregnancy I had a rough fall and ended up at the hospital for a couple hours of fetal monitoring. Nurse mid-wife Sue Davey was on call that day and I was very pleased with how she and the nursing staff took care of me. They could have easily brushed me off and down-played what turned out to be nothing to worry about, but instead they took my concerns seriously and made me feel much better. My daughter was born healthy and perfect with the assistance of Dr. Anne Bingham. We've decided to choose Dr. Bingham as my regular doctor because she was so wonderful through out labor and delivery, but I honestly believe we would have felt the same no matter which one of the DRs or the nurse mid-wife ended up delivering. read more

Unfortunately the billing department for this groups requires constant monitoring, as they send errant bills to you and then just threaten to send to collections and impact your credit. I fought over incorrect billing for months in which they finally agreed to credit my account for the amount as they recognized the error. Then, 5 YEARS later they send me a bill for that same amount, saying that their "system" had a glitch and that I needed to pay for that bill. The group offered no understanding of how ridiculous that is, and only that they would send me what their system states I owe. (The same system that had a glitch for 5 years mind you) The department does not have a good comprehension of how to run an accurate billing group, and anyone who does not meticulously monitor will end up being charged erroneously. Would recommend finding a different doctor that can be trusted as responsible with your money read more

I gave birth to my first baby, a boy, on December 13, 2019. I went in to the hospital that morning and when I told them how terrified I was to give birth, they made me feel stupid and were not reassuring at all!!! My doctor told me I could opt for a c section but they would prefer I didn't. I did. I know myself enough to know that was the right choice for me and with how fast I recouped and with how great I heeled up and felt, I am so glad I stuck to my guns. I was up walking around and showering the morning after (14 hours after my c section) but that has nothing to do with doctor. When I said I wanted the c section, the 2 ob's looked at each other like I was an idiot and the whole situation actually made me cry once they left the room. Their tone and the way they responded made me feel stupid and like a bad mom.. I liked the care I got during my pregnancy even though again, a couple of the older OB's are anything but reassuring and sweet. Their bedside manner even while just speaking to you in their office is less than desirable. And the parking??? A total nightmare!!! Absolutely ridiculous and one of the Ob's (I assume) who feels she's so important she parks her silver suv at the beginning of the driveway taking up a lot of the room is a pain and would always frustrate me. I would say if you want a place that is clean and nice inside and has friendly nurses, choose this place. If you dont care for some reason how the doctors Make you feel 2 feet tall, this place is for you! read more

I have been going to this practice for 16 years and always highly recommend them in the past. More recently though, I have completely lost all faith in this practice. One of the Drs in particular pushes veganism as the cure all for feminine issues, glazing over concerns. After my last visit when I was desperately seeking help and received nothing but told I should be a vegan, I have decided it's time to move on and find a Dr that will actually help me, instead of humilate and ridicule me and have me leaving in tears. I was actually told last week and I quote "we can use a hysterectomy as a carrot for you to lose weight" if that doesn't tell you enough about this practice I don't know what will. read more

I went here because it was one of the only offices close to where I live. I waited a half hour past my appointment time just to get into a room and waited another 40 minutes for the doctor. When the doctor finally came in, she told me that I should be a vegan because the US just pumps its meat with hormones (I don't even eat red meat, but she didn't bother to ask me that). Then she asked me how many drinks I've had in one sitting between Christmas and today and told me that I shouldn't have more than one, maybe two in a sitting in case I get called into work (I'm not on call for my job and I'm responsible enough that if I were, I wouldn't be drinking). Then she asked me where I keep my cellphone while I'm driving. I told her I don't usually use it, but since I'm new to the area, I use the maps on my phone to get where I'm going. She told me to keep my phone in my purse, zip it and hide it in the backseat so I'm not tempted to touch it. She told me she keeps hers in a Tupperware while she's diving. Then she told me I had to come back in 6 weeks to have my blood pressure checked and I told her I'm not doing that and she tried to tell me that because I'm older now, my blood pressure may suddenly change. I told her I've been on this for years and never had a problem with my blood pressure, in fact, my blood pressure is low, and told her I'm not coming back. Maybe all the doctors here are not like the one that I saw, but I didn't go see them for a lecture about how to live my life, I have a mom. I have no medical issues and just needed a refill on a prescription because I just moved here and my old doctor can't refill it for me. I was in that office for over an hour waiting for the doctor to see me and she spent ten minutes lecturing me about how to live my life when she doesn't even know anything about me. I'm not pregnant, but if I were or needed a doctor for anything other than a prescription, I wouldn't set foot in this place. read more

If you are afraid of going to the the OBGYN, as I am, give this place a chance. Dr. Bony is the most warm hearted, compassionate, and comforting doctor I have ever been to. She takes the time to listen to any concerns, explains everything, and she truly makes you feel cared about. She treats you as if you were her own family. Words can't express how grateful I am to have her as a doctor! read more

I had placenta previa, I was over 35 and was bleeding during my first trimester. They told me everything is fine, no worries, continue to do all the activities I normal would. I should have been put on bed rest, any other practice would have placed me on bed rest for the safety of the baby and myself. I hemorrhaged and my child was born at 29 weeks and had to be in the NICU for over three months. We still don't know if there will be long lasting consequences as the baby grows up. I am lucky we are both alive. If this practice had done their job this may have been prevented. read more

This practice sends women postcard reminders that encourage thier fixed income Medicare patients to make appointments for exams that will not be covered under Medicare guidelines. They explain that in one paragraph in one of the many papers they hand you. If you don't catch it, you're stuck with the bill. Be very careful of these people. read more

I would highly recommend this practice. I've been with them for 5 yrs, through two births & a couple other experiences & I could not have felt more supported. I have met with each of the Drs throughout the years and can say that every single one cares and will go out of their way for you. My personal favorites are Dr Bony, Dr Flagg ,Dr McLeod & Sue Davey. I have moved further from the practice but still make the trip to see them, it is worth the travel. read more

All the staff here are great, from the receptionist to the nurses. The nurses dont always get alot of recognition but they should! Crescent staff are always willing to help and go above and beyond for your needs no matter how big or small they might be. I recently had my daughter in August and DR. Flag delivered her, she was great she made me and my fiance feel very comfortable through out the labor. Dr. McLeod, Dr. Bony, and Dr.Smith all came to see me through out my stay in the hospital after having my baby, which was comforting. I see some reviews on here good and bad , but I must say they have never pushed vaccines on me, or any medical procedures that were not needed. When it came to labor and delivery they definitely discussed everything with me regarding the good and the bad. While signing the paperwork for the hospital Dr.Bony went through every page and explained it in great detail and answered all my questions. read more

Most reviews here are from women who used obstetrics services, so I wanted to rate my experience as someone who used the gynecology services. Everything is well organized and I had a very short waiting time for my appointment. Dr McLeod answered my questions patiently and helped me laugh my stress out. The nurses and the rest of the staff were great too and the place is clean and cozy. If I need a gynecologist again while in Middletown, I'll definitely visit them again. read more

I went to this practice when I was pregnant with my first one! The Doctros are just fabulous. Of course some times I had to wait and wait, but it was a price worth paying. I did have a difficult labor and delivery and the doctors and nurses were especially patient through my tantrums. I did end up buying what one doctor called 'some serious chocolate' for the entire staff to apologize for my behavior, but no one held it against me - I guess they go through this all the time dealing with pregnant women in labor for 48+ hours. I am back at the practice and this time around expecting twins - Dr. Flag has been extremely nice encouraging me to call her whenever, day or night, if I have any questions, following up with the high risk group that I have been seing, and just being there to give me a hug when I am going through something difficult! I have not seen this level of personal attention elsewhere and though I live about an hour away, WILL NOT GO TO A DIFFERENT PRACTICE! I like the office, the fact that they have cloth on the exam tables is a small, but important detail. Dr. Bony is my doctor and like the review before me, I feel as though I am her only patient. Well, three months have gone by since the induced birth of our daughter Gabrielle on Leap Day 2016, and now that she's given us a few extra hours of sleep during the night I've finally got the time to spread the good word about Crescent Street. I never write reviews, but given how well they shepherded us through those nine or so usually exhilarating but occasionally terrifying months I had to say something. I simply cannot imagine a more professional, compassionate or competent group of physicians and their medical professional colleagues, or a more supportive administrative staff. There is no way I could ever properly express my gratitude to all of them for helping to make our pregnancy and delivery the special events they turned out to be. Each of the practice physicians has a different personality, which we got to know (and even look forward to experiencing) since patients are encouraged to schedule their examinations with different practice members as their pregnancies progress. But while their personalities may be different, in addition to their obvious medical competence without doubt one thing they all share is an absolute commitment to making sure each patient is treated with courtesy and respect, and does not leave the office or hospital until all their questions have been answered and their concerns addressed. We never had a "rushed" examination or got the sense that our physician was impatient with us or in a hurry to leave in order to get to other patients, even when the waiting room was full. And they all smile! I know from speaking with other Crescent Street clients that collectively these professionals have "seen it all and done it all." We met Dr. Flagg, the doyenne of the group, first, after which we felt we were in extremely capable hands. (We later learned that her red boots in the delivery room have taken on the mystique of the marque of a fashion designer). In addition to seeing her in the office, Dr. Bingham calmed us down and patiently helped us through a false labor scare that had caused us to rush to the hospital one night she was there in attendance. Dr. McLeod, who delivered our daughter, has a relaxing light hearted laugh and a smile that lights up the room; she seemed almost psychic with respect to what our daughter was up to right before she popped out into the real world (although "popped" is probably not a description my wife would agree with). And speaking of smiles, Dr. Bony's is right up there in the rankings, as was her sensitivity and gentility in some of the more invasive examinations. And it was young Dr. Kueck who helped us make the decision about whether and when to induce and made the related arrangements, which went flawlessly. Obviously we are fans of this very diverse and individual collection of highly competent professionals. But I would also like to put in a plug for their colleagues at the Middlesex Hospital birthing center. As with the folks from Crescent Street, we had an excellent experience once we got to the hospital; in fact, in a way it was almost like a stay in a hotel (although few hotels cost quite that much ...). And also as with Crescent Street, we never had an encounter with a member of the hospital staff that didn't end with the question "Do you have any questions?" or "Is there anything more we can do for you?" Because of a bit of jaundice our little one spent a night in the special care nursery, and couldn't have been better cared for. We also had the opportunity to watch the pediatric SWAT team at work taking care of a baby who had had been born with breathing difficulties, and these folks responded immediately as if they had been dropped out of the sky and obviously knew what they were doing. We met that child's parents the next day and they told us their baby was OK and the emergency response support had been outstanding. read more

This place is pathetic! Stay away! Beware, Dr. McCloud will charge you just for a consultation! This practice is extremely money hungry. I just had my third child and was shopping around for an OBGYN group that had a midwife practice. Just to meet a doctor at Crescent I was charged 135.00! Ridiculous! I met with 4 other Doctors was not charged at all! I am so l glad I went with my instinct and didn't choose this practice to deliver my baby. Plus the front desk was extremely rude and discourteous, practically forcing me to hand over my insurance information, even though I was not their patient!!!! Now it all makes sense, they knew they going to charge me but didn't have the decency to inform before I met the doctor.... So unethical! It's pretty clear they are concerned about money versus the care and well being of you and your baby! read more
