If you want something that is low-key, casual, yet very introspective and serious about spiritual growth, this is the service for you. If you like "High Mass", the morning services are good too, and you get to meet all the nice old ladies and their fabulous hats! St. Michaels invites all to "come as you are"--meaning that whomever you are, whatever you are, where ever you are in your spiritual journey (or if you don't even know if you want to take that journey) there is a place for you there, and will gladly make room to fit you in. The only reason I didn't give my church 5 stars is because I feel we could be doing more as a church to reach out to the community around us. Not to say that we aren't trying, that is something that is constantly discussed, and if I was a more giving person, I would volunteer to chair a group. But our Saturday soup kitchen is very, very good (come volunteer!) and I wish we could do more.

I didn't know much about the Episcopal Church but I've found it to be very welcoming to everyone. As for this particular Church, it has a variety of different services to fit your needs. It has the typical Sunday morning services like most churches but it also has a Saturday evening mass that is very laid-back and has popular songs incorporated into a one-hour service. They have songs from various artists such as Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Bob Marley, Springsteen, etc. It is quite the variety. They also offer a yoga mass. I've never been but I hear good things. I've found the people there to be welcoming but not overbearing. If you want to duck in and out, you can do that or if you're looking for a great church community, that definitely exists here. They are clearly trying to offer variety to meet lots of different needs.

Old style pews which is great as some churches recently have opted for chairs. The service starts a bit late, 11:00 AM and usually finishes at 12:15 PM. There is coffee hour upstairs with good food and drinks for all. The church itself has a long history and the current pastor has a very nice personality, a warm heart, and easy to speak to. That makes a big difference. And it the church is conveniently located near Times Square which is good for easy access, bad as it can become noisy outside sometimes. Located on Restaurant Row, there are many choices for brunch right after service.
