They even have a surround camera system that could be used in place of a videographer and the cameras are capable of live streaming. It's in the well-prepared homilies which always help us reflect on the readings, but frequently address sensitive and even "hot" issues of the day at the intersection of faith and secular responsibility. This is not easily done and not often attempted in many, even most, Catholic parishes. The lay readers are superbly able and prepared, and Baptisms are sometimes embedded in the Sunday liturgy. That is like a community birthday party. Franciscans are known for creating a welcoming and joyful worship environment, and their efforts pay off here at St. Mary's. The weekly bulletin is an example. It's all good news about the Good News: Pictures of weddings and baptisms, it's Spanish/English for the strong and active Latino population, activities are celebrated in print and in photos - It's a happy place. I know of somebody who'd call this parish a field hospital for the faith-wounded.

That's my only gripe about this church. It would definitely create more of a nostalgic feel if real candles were used. The vestibule of the church is large enough to accommodate over 100 people. The vestibule is where people who arrive late to mass--congregate. The wooden pews remain but they are beginning to wear down. The pews are as old as the church itself. Also, it's a loving community that I've been able to connect with. Everyone is really nice there, and it's a place you can be vulnerable with too. The church is predominantly made up of young adults, young families, and a few college students. Ultimately, a church isn't only about the things you can receive at a service or in the community, but it's ultimately about pursuing Jesus. And I see that this church is honestly striving to pursue Jesus together.

We…read morecame this past Sunday for a birthday party thought it would be fun to take all the kids here to the carnival during the afternoon (opens at 2pm) while the family starts up the grill for our bbq at the house. Packages were going from 55 tickets for $60 or you have a choice of the $35 unlimited ride wristband. Rides were a bit old, some even had doors and seatbelts that didn't work, taking 1 star away for that. Rides averaged 3-4 tickets each. There were 2 sides, one side are mostly kiddie rides for little ones 36' tall & up, the other were rides for older kids 42' tall. Another star less for a few staff members not checking to make sure seatbelts were secured, parents make sure you double check! By the information, they had a smoke house set up by the local fire house, purpose was to have kids and parents go in a smoke filled area and teach them how to escape a fire, which is great for us to bring the kids in and experience. Zeppoles going for 13 pieces only for $5!
