I've been a client at Crisis Preparation and Recovery (CPR) for over three years, and I can confidently say this is one of the most inconsiderate, irresponsible decisions I've ever seen a mental health provider make. CPR is abruptly shutting down ALL outpatient services -- therapy and psychiatric care -- as of May 23rd, 2025. They sent out an email with barely a month's notice, leaving hundreds of clients, including myself, without care, without real options, and without enough time to make a safe transition. And it's not just the clients they've abandoned. CPR is firing all of their therapists, case managers, and psychiatric staff with the same short notice. These are professionals who've dedicated themselves to supporting people through trauma, grief, and mental illness -- and now they're left scrambling to find jobs, just like we're scrambling to find new providers. It's a complete failure of leadership and ethics. CPR claims they're shifting focus to "crisis-related issues," but the irony is they're about to cause a wave of personal crises for the very people they were supposed to help. Mental health care is about long-term support, consistency, and trust -- not tossing people aside when they become inconvenient to serve. I've been with my therapist here for three years. She helped me through my brother's suicide, through depression, anxiety, and so much healing. Now, they expect me to just drop all of that progress, start from scratch with someone new, and somehow not unravel? That's not just unrealistic -- it's cruel. We are not just names on a schedule. We are people with lives and pain and progress that mattered. If this is how CPR treats both its patients and its staff, then they've forgotten what "care" even means. Do better. I've loved Crisis Preparation Recovery. They have helped me so much in 6 years. In less than a 30 day notice, they let every patient and employee they're closing their doors and want their "co payments all paid up". Plus, they let go of their employees. I have not looked it up but "Contact the Arizona Department of Health Services or the relevant licensing board for behavioral health facilities in Arizona to inquire about notification requirements" This could be illegal in the injustice they've created for those whom have counted on them. People whom are vulnerable with behavioral health issues and can't find replacement doctors right away. I'm sure that could become legal cases for future. So disappointing. read more

This place is actually awful. Office staff always looks and acts like they're annoyed to be there. I'll submit a refill request on a Tuesday and they won't get to acknowledging it until next week. They've had the worst overturn at an office I've ever experienced. I've been there for 3 years and had 4 maybe 5 different people try to "help" me. Then I get an email saying they're closing down? LOL not surprised. This place has always been very sketchy and seems like a scam. Should have gone with my gut feeling and went somewhere else 3 years ago. The hospitals choice for mandatory evals for emergencies. Unfortunately their "rapid response team" that is supposed to be 24 hours is MIA. 8 hours later? Nope. Keep waiting, there are no counselors available. Call other crisis assistance in AZ. These people either don't have the bandwidth they advertise or just don't care. read more

This " business" is the absolute worst. Despicable practices of coercion, and threats made to a 21yr old in crisis! Atrocious! I have a crazy busy schedule. I drive from north Phoenix to see them. I called ahead (a 30 minutes heads up)already on the road, that I am running into traffic and I will be late 8 minutes. The receptionist then continues to tell me that if I don't make it within a five minute grace(ha!) period, then I won't be seen and would be asked to be rescheduled. I turned my car around, because I didn't want to finish the remainder of my 30 minute drive. What am I? A damn child!?! Every other appointment I've had with them, I'm in the damn waiting room, we'll past 15 minutes post the scheduled appointment time. This is just an example of an arbitrary rule they enforce that doesn't help anybody. I am too busy for this. If I am driving from the north side and give you a sufficient heads up, that should count for something. Too bad. I dropped them immediately. read more

If you need any prescriptions, head elsewhere! I just moved here from Washington and I needed a new primary care doctor to keep prescribing my medications. I was sent through a gauntlet of impossible tests only to be denied for an irrelevant reason. It's now clear the "screenings" are only put in place for them to turn you away. Awful morals. read more

This place sucks. Had bad time after divorce Angela only good np. All others mis diagnosis me I almost got fired from job cause some 29 year old took me off adderall cause I smoke pot. Quit pot and still wouldn't after me not asking like drug addict. Went somewhere where else and back to concentrating and doing better than ever. I have had a really great experience with this center overall. Some therapists offer EMDR therapy which has helped me make great strides in my well-being. Ben DeJesus has been an excellent therapist that I highly recommend. He has made me feel heard and has proved to be an excellent, nonjudgmental therapist. He has changed my treatment plan based off my current wellbeing to ensure the best short-term progress to help day to day occurrences. The treatment plan evolves based off my current and future needs, leading to my long-term success. I feel I have made some great strides in a short amount of time because of the tools Ben offers. I have also been very impressed by the front desk staff as well. Molly has been a friendly face for the last few months. I think she provides a high level of customer service. Molly greets me by name and knows exactly who I am seeing to ensure a pleasant check in process. This is a very rare occurrence in the medical field that I really appreciate. read more

PLEASE READ ALL They are just around to rip off Access patients First appt prescribed me 2 different drugs Then can't get in for a follow up appointments at all....they cancelled the last 2 appointments on me 2 weeks apart Im disabled and on access ...its Not easy to get around nor cheap Update!!!! 3rd time they have cancelled a appointment on me !!! For having to work for a practice like this I really like my therapist and Nurse practitioner...but its becoming a living nightmare to even be seen at my scheduled times 3rd UPDATE AFTER the issues I talked to Drew McSherry...he has to intervene a few times...gave me his direct cell..told me to call him directly...even met him face to face I just had a major surgery the beginning of the month...which I gave warning to both my providers Well despite my best efforts..I could not get my 3 scripts filled Over week goes by after contacting my provider ..they say its in...CVS even says its in I go down there...sure as he'll...only 1 out of 3 are in I call Drew directly...left voicemail ...I never hear back all day!!! At end of day I get message from someone don't know my Refill in is I call Drew... He doesn't give a flying Shit!!!! I tell him I'm gonna go check myself into the crisis center..because. Again for the 4th time now I have had to go way outta my way to get treatment. And I just want help His response is nothing This place has no accountability!!!!! I had the worst experience with trying to get medication refills over the holidays when my provider was on vacation, I missed an appointment but had another scheduled. This not only caused me a great deal of suffering but also a lot of very expensive ER visits and a complete psychiatric melt down due to withdrawal symptoms. This is not only bad practice but gross negligence. read more

Worst location. They lie in their notes and purposely turn away patients. I have been seen for over 2 years at the scottsdale location with no complaints. I was referred to the Tempe location for medication. My first visit I was told to show up 30 minutes early which I did. I was asked to wait in the waiting room, which I also did for 30 minutes. I was then told I was late and would not be able to be seen. After a very lengthy argument I was rescheduled. In the notes they wrote that I was a no show. The next 2 visits both included rude staff and a less than satisfactory. The following 3 visits matched my experience of the first visit. As the scottsdale location is now able to offer medications I have transferred. I highly advise that no one visit the Tempe location. Falsifying medical record or customer notes is a felony and this unethical behavior will catch up with them. read more

Crisis Preparation and Recovery exists to DENY patients appropriate level services and makes no effort to get needed services covered. This agency and the staff we dealt with were both LOSERS. I have been going to CPR for over 2 years and they have saved my life! I was dealing with extreme anxiety and OCD & needed to be prescribed medication & I am so grateful to feel like myself again. Tiffany Jordan the nurse practitioner is amazing! She is very sweet and I feel like she is looking out for my best interest. She is very knowledgeable & answers any questions I have about medication I am prescribed or she recommends. This company won the contact for providing counselors for Hospital Rapid Response... well we checked into a dignity health ER and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and no counselor... Bridgett was wonderful on the phone but Mr. Drew McSherry needs to apply more of his COO resources to stop suicidal patients waiting and waiting and not waiting without a real idea when help will arrive. We got here at 10 pm and we are hoping the rapid responder shows up at 7AM.... The Regional Behavioral Health Network, needs to "fix" this malfunctioning contract or find a more organized Rapid Response provider... read more

terrible experience! I was having an anxiety issue and my PCP referred me to CPR. It took about a week to get an intake interview, and then my counselor was a "no show" for our first session. After I called CPR to complain, she did call to say she had left me 2 phone messages (I did not receive any), and that she had been in a "very important meeting". I had to remind her that my time is important too! When I told her I did not receive any messages she said "are you saying you don't believe me?"Now she is arguing with me? I don't feel the "therapy" would have been helpful under the circumstances. read more

If you are in need of actual help or mental health treatment, stay far away from here. This place neither prepares you for nor helps you resolve crises. It causes them. The revolving door of unqualified staff, irresponsible practices, and subpar, impersonal, neglectful treatment are truly abhorrent. They have no awareness that they are in a business dealing with the delicate subject of mental health and conduct themselves without regard to the safety or well being of their clients. They ignore refill requests, leaving you to go days or weeks unmedicated, don't return voicemails with questions and concerns, and during my 5 or so years with the office I never had a counselor who remained with the practice more than 6 months. At one point I found out that I was on such a high dosage of one of my medications that it had to have been an error in the prescription data entry somewhere along the line. I was abruptly "discharged" with no warning or notification, left with no refills, out of medication, and a refusal to refill my scripts. This place should lose their license. They do nothing but treat you like a policy number to collect insurance money. Do not trust them with your health. read more

I was having some anxiety issues and though therapy might be helpful, so I yelped "Therapy Tempe" and this location was the first that came up. From my initial in-take experience over the phone, to my first appointment with Carrie, my therapist, I have felt like I have been in good, safe hands. The phone center is filled with helpful and engaging individuals who are sensitive to the types of people calling in asking for help. I've called many time to change appointments, and they are always accommodating. There are two "sides" of the business, the therapy side, which has a charming receptionist Jenny, whenever I visit my therapist, she takes my payment and is always kind. The other "side" is for medication management, which I have also utilize. The young lady at the desk knows me by name (which makes me feel worse, since I cannot recall hers). She's patient when it comes to paperwork, and reschedules. She's even provided me phone numbers when I've needed financial help. Anyone who has been feeling blue, or might want to talk to someone - please call CPR they will help you find the skills you already have to be the best version of YOU. read more

Absolutely the WORST behavioral service I've ever received. I cannot even begin to describe how heinous and disgusting this place is. I tried therapy here through gary and ben - both did not give a flying f*** about helping anyone! I was called "weird" by gary, and when i got a job he went as far as saying "thats it!!!???" in a very condescending tone. he didn't even congratulate me lol - i thought this place was supposed to help people change their lives but i guess not! Also, Ben was acting like a prick and would talk talk talk through our sessions while i was quiet and listening to him. When I left a couple sessions with him all he gave me was a sheet of paper that said "how to manage stress", printed from a book. it was useless. I needed someone to talk to, not a f***ing homework assignment ! To make things worse, these people immediately decided to put me on medication. they did no intake, i didn't get an official diagnosis by a board certified psychiatrist - just some lame nurse practitioner named Natalie Corsbie. She misdiagnosed me as bi polar and put me on some expensive medication while recieving perks from the pharmaceutical company she prescribed from. I became sick many times from the strong medicines she prescribed me like they were candies. I gained a ton of weight in 6 months, and have stretch marks . I used to weigh 130 and got to 210lbs. Natalie wanted to put me on disability because she had me so drugged I was sleeping like 16 hours a day. Natalie corsbie would not let me change doctor's or agencies without giving up the paper work. I stopped seeing her and went to a board certified psychologist who correctly diagnosed me with depression. I later filed a complaint to the nursing board about natalie corsbie and she is under a 7 month to 1 year investigation. I encourage anyone else who has suffered from this agency to report them - all you have to do is write a letter to the nursing board. It's very easy and they take the complaint seriously. if you have pictures of the damage they do its even better. read more

Worst experience ever. Avoid at all costs. The office is mismanaged and unorganized. Instead of prescribing the same meds I've been taking for years, the shrink chose to prescribe me 3 new meds, which I didn't feel was helpful. After filling out a 10 question form and half an hour talking social history, the shrink diagnosed me with bipolar disorder.
