Awe inspiring experience! PROTIP: wake up early and go with the 1st group of the day to see it.. your crowd won't be as bad.(added bonus is u see it at sunrise for the most gorgeous views). We stayed for 2 hours and say that it was getting busier amd busier as the time pasted. They also featured 2 small chapels, a gift shop, and a cafe. The train ride there is comfortable and easy!

What a great experience seeing one of the seven wonders of the world! From our hotel by the ocean in Rio we can see the monument lit at night In the distance but seeing it close up in person is a fabulous experience. To get there the property has trains to bring you up and down the mountain which has scenic views of some parts of the city as you go up and down. Then you hop on an elevator then an escalator to stand sight of the magnificent structure. There is also a church located within a few feet.

Christ the Redeemer is a modern World Wonder. If you're going to Rio de Janeiro I'm sure that visiting is already on your itinerary. Definitely book your tickets in advance. We went on a Monday morning and it was PACKED. Luckily our booking allowed us to skip the line. The tram ride up was nice and had some good views. After the tram ride there are a lot of steps to get up to the statue so be prepared for that. Though I believe there are elevators. There's a little chapel up at the top too which was nice. Unless you get creative with the angles don't count on getting a solo picture. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think He's nicer to look at from afar. That said, Christ the Redeemer is a must-see and will likely be at the top of any list for what to do in Rio.

I came in a public holiday, it was very crowded. There was long line to ride a train to the top. The statue is established on top of Corcovado mountain, with beautiful overview to bay area and Rio city.

Our guided tour included a visit to the Redeemer, considered 1 of 7 manmade wonders of the world. Our reservation was at 11:20 am for the 34 of us to take the cable car up to the top. Everyone can get a seat for the most part. No assigned seats. Some seats face each other. Rush, rush, rush. A few folks stood. Once at the top you still either take a flight of steps up to the Redeemer or wait for the elevator. We climbed the stairs. As it was Sunday there was a religious service going on. Expect large crowds as everyone wants a selfie with the Redeemer. Our local tour guide says sometimes the Redeemer is shrouded in clouds but we were fortunate. Great views of the bay and the Atlantic Ocean. There are several gift shops and a sit down cafe. Bathrooms are located ground level & at the top. This was definitely the highlight of our three night stay in Rio de Janeiro.

Gorgeous, moving, spiritual, great views, definitely worthy of being a 7th wonder of the world. The statue of Jesus with arms outstretched watches over the entire city of Rio and you can see it from almost every vantage point in the city.

Christ the Reedemer, a must see Wonder of World! We went later in the afternoon on a weekday and it was decently crowded. -They have water, souvenirs, and food both on ground level and up at the top! -Ground floor shops close at 6pm and I think 6pm is also the last train up to the top. You can book online in advanced (highly recommended but not necessary) or ask if your hotel can help you (ours did! Sheraton in rio). -They have a small cafe up there with an awesome menu (mostly fried food though) and drinks, including alcohol like beer and cocktails. -They were out of the entire printed menu by 5pm! BUT, they had a glass display with other assorted items (not listed on the menu) ... they still had some meat and cheese pastries left that hit the spot. -The red train is the best and only train, about 20$ US dollars per person and they took a fun photo of our group before boarding. -Photos were printed out and offered in a themed paper frame upon leaving. We bought one and will cherish it. Photos were 2 for 50 reales, but we haggled them down a bit. -this was amazing. -surprisingly clean. -I have friends who saw pick pocket crews at this location in the past. As always, stay safe.

An obligatory visit with great views. Be prepared for the crowds but you'll be able to get great pics. Wear comfy shoes!

This is definitely a bucket list thing to do! I only give it 4 stars for a couple of reasons. One, we went on a weekday, and although it wasn't too busy, the crowds were still CRAZY! There are WAY too many people up there! They were doing some sort of a religious ceremony up there when we went. I'm not sure if they do that every day, or if that was a special occasion. Two, people think they "own" the picture spots. Like, there was a line to get a picture in a corner spot and this lady was taking at least 100 pictures of her friend while everyone waited?!? I was like "no. I'm going to take some pictures here. You don't own the spot"! So, the crowds can be very annoying! BUT!!! The gift shops are awesome! Lots of beautiful things to buy at reasonable prices. There was also a restaurant at the bottom and places selling snacks. There were a lot of monkeys up there too! Like dozens of monkeys! There are several gift shops along the stairs as well. The view is beautiful. It's a great thing to check off of your bucket list. But just beware that there will be crowds and you'll probably want to push someone over the ledge

A must see when in Rio! What isn't apparent on TripAdvisor and other sites, is you do not need to book an excursion or with an agency to visit - you be like me, a solo traveler and visit by yourself. Book a day in advance and you're golden! Absolutely beautiful view of Rio from de Cristo.

The statue is an essential visit while in Rio! You can reach this point by taking a funicular (train), a van, or by hiking. The main funicular station allows you to buy tickets in person using cash at a box office or using a credit card at one of the electronic kiosks on the station platform. They are timed tickets so pay attention to the time. Prices also vary by day! The van can be reserved for pickup at Ipanema, Copacabana, or at the visitor center near Christ the Redeemer. You'll have to get a ride up to the visitors center somehow if you choose that pickup location. You can hike here by starting at Parque Lage. It will take you a solid four hours uphill but it's free and you'll see wildlife and waterfalls along the way. Just bring water and prepare to sweat. At the top you'll find snacks and drinks. There's a restaurant and even a small chapel for prayer. There are wild monkeys so be careful and keep your distance. The Redeemer statue has multiple platforms. There is an amazing view of Rio from the lowest one. Try to be here at sunset for the best views!

I think this is my favorite out of the three and where I spent most of my beach time at. While I hadn't tried to go to Copacabana or Ipanema during the same hours, I found Leblon to be less crowded which I personally liked. It felt calmer, more relaxing here. You can rent a chair and umbrella for a day R$20 or R$40 (forgot) at the one I rented from. They help you set everything up and ask you where you would like to sit. You'll also have the chance to order a drink from their stand and they'll bring it out to you. I've paid both in the beginning and at the end - not sure what is the usual. They will usually come to check up on you I think or at least mine did. If you had agua de coco, they say you can leave it on the beach and there will be a team of people with a truck to pick them up at some point throughout the day (yes, I saw them). You'll see and get approached by many walking vendors on the beach. At first I was weary of some trying to sell me things I didn't want, but really I think it's great and I like how they're there. I've been told that these are all side hustlers trying to make an extra buck, but there are some that actually have good stuff. For example, I had bought sterling silver jewelry two separate times from the same artists, different days on Leblon Beach. I have tried some of the food / snacks and the Yerba mate tea. I wish I had tried all or more of the food vendors. I think I was hesitant b/c I wasn't sure how the food would be ok if they'd been walking all day with it, but hot food really does stay hot cause they carry them in insulated bags. You'll see vendors carrying swimwear, towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, macrame jewelry and accessories, and food of all kinds (burgers, shrimp, corn, salgados, e doces). Always be cognizant of your belongings and those who are around you. I never had any issues, but I've heard stories of people getting robbed before - they either work in teams of two or more sometimes and might try to distract you while the other tries to pickpocket you or steal your stuff. Never leave your valuables unattended if you plan to go into the water. When you're ready to leave, just leave everything where it was. The crew picks everything up throughout / towards the end of the day. If you need to use the restroom, there are public restrooms available for a fee. The one I went to was R$5 I think. There are areas to clean off the ocean water and sand - outdoor showers (they usually keep running all day) and then smaller ones by the steps to the sidewalk for your feet, etc. If you're into volleyball, you can also join a group to play for a fee. If you workout, there are various workout bars (not sure what to call them) spaced amongst the sidewalks of the beach and of course, you will see joggers / runners on the road along with cyclists and people riding Itaú bikes along the path. I rented the Itaú bikes a couple times and one day I road it from Copacabana to Leblon and back. Use your app to locate the many bike docking stations. People usually start filtering out around 7pm. There's a good view of Dois Irmãos. Be sure you have sunscreen and sun protection cause even on cloudy days could you possibly get a bad sun tan (I sure did, lol and I still have an outline from the top I was wearing *crying emoji face*).
