I'm not a big fan of oysters, but this was a fantastic experience all the same. This family-owned and operated oyster farm was fun to learn about, and the whole family chipped in to a fabulous tour that everyone in our group enjoyed. We learned about the farm's history (a great story that I won't spoil here) and the process of growing oysters, and then went into the beach for some shaking and shucking!
After the tour, we were treated to fresh oysters (raw or cooked) and some other goodies while listening to live music from a family member who has been studying for the past several years. It was a cold, blustery day, but the warmth of the experience will be a highlight of our vacation memories.
I strongly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in family businesses, living off the land, aquaculture, or of course, oysters! read more
