The value of the tour was great, only costing around $45 (42.50 euros) for an eight hour tour. I was able to select the pickup point at a nearby hotel. The bus was prompt and we headed on our way shortly after 10am. The tour bus driver was an absolute delight. Incredibly friendly and full of knowledge and funny stories. We stopped at a couple spots along the way including a castle, a very old cemetery, and a pub in Doolin. We drove through the Burren on our way which was a really interesting sight to see. I enjoyed learning about the geology of such a unique place. We had adequate time to explore the Cliffs of Moher once we arrive - almost 2 hours to roam around, take pictures, and check out the gift shop. Then we made our way back to Galway and arrived around 6pm. The timing was perfect and I really feel like it was a valuable experience. So glad I booked a group tour instead of renting a car and trying to navigate to the cliffs myself - the roads to get there were really wild and I'm not sure I could've handled it on my own (plus, it would've been way more expensive). I'll also note that the tour company reached out the day before my scheduled tour to let me know they had to reschedule due to the snow and ice that rolled through that night. They put me onto the tour the following day and communication was seamless throughout. I highly recommend booking your tour through Galway Tour Company!

You close your eyes and feel the scorching sun washing over you and the sounds of not so distant waves are drumming out a relaxing beat against the shore. That was my welcome to the Bervie guesthouse on Achill. The place itself is beautiful with years and years of love infused into it. The rooms are bright, airy, clean and comfortable and the hosts are lovely people. They do an awesome deal for a weekend B and B with one night's dinner for around 160 Euro. This is all great but I haven't even started talking about the food yet. The breakfast was out of this world. Proper full Irish and every ingredient tasted fresh and delicious. There was a great buffet option as well with cereals and fruit etc as well as some lighter options like poached eggs and Salmon. Then we had the dinner. Wow. Best food I have tasted in an age. I had confit duck, lamb sausage and haricot beans for starter. Steak, amazingly done, with mushrooms infused with wine and veg and mash and roast spuds. Followed by a passionfruit crème brulee. I don't think I can even describe how good this food was but you can see the pics for a rough idea! The whole guest house is superb, right on the beach in one of the most spectacular spots in Ireland. I will be back, lots and lots. I cannot recommend this place enough! I'd give it 10 Stars if I could!

It had been unseasonably hot for Ireland so I had not packed adequately and purchased some shorts and t-shirts for the 85 degree weather. By the time we arrived in Keel I had worn all the clothes I purchased so we asked Elizabeth if there was a laundry nearby to wash them. She would not think of it, she took the clothes and washed them for us. I'm extremely particular about my laundry, I only air dry my clothes and Elizabeth was so accommodating to hang them outside to dry. The room was perfect and only finished second to the amazing views from our window. The beds were as comfortable as home, the beach is only 200 meters outside your door, and Elizabeth even got us a bottle of wine to enjoy as we watched the night fade over the ocean. We could not have asked for a more perfect experience.

And the person at the front desk assured me no collection trucks would wake us up the next morning with their backup beeping. But that wasn't true. But this house is simply spectacular. I believe a recently redone exterior - nearly new looking - and a restored interior, with immaculate grounds and aforementioned helipad. The dining rooms for the restaurant were really elegant. I believe there's also a hotel in the house, but we're not staying there. Seems like it might be frightfully expensive. Also, you kind of wander in to the house a bit before you find the restaurant, just a warning. Food was as good as the night before at Belleek Castle, but I think with a little more of a foodie/foo-foo twist to it. Presentations were more elegant, ingredients a little more creative, but with roughly the same general results. The amouse bouche was a sort of deconstructed/miniature nicoise salad, with green beans, tomato, and shaved smoked lamb. I don't care about anything else on the plate, the lamb was stunning. Can I get about 5 pounds of that? Beyond the complimentary course, I started with a scallop and black pudding dish, after having been told that if I wanted to try black pudding, I should do so at Mount Falcon. And i was well rewarded. Very flavorful scallops with a nice sear crust and a nice piece of black pudding, which I think was panfried with a little crust on the outside and a very tender inside. The scallops were quite good in a little squash puree, and the black pudding was delicious. I didn't know if I would like it, since I'm not a huge fan of food that tastes heavy in iron (like liver), but it was very good and I'm glad I ordered it. My entree was hake, served with a crabmeat ravioli. This fell down a bit - while the fish was moist, it was not really very flavorful. The crabmeat ravioli tasted excellent, but had several large pieces of shell in it. I know that can be a risk, but it's also something that I've never had happen before. Still tasty, but...I would definitely ordered something else next time. Four of the six of us ordered lamb chops, which looked like a better selection, in retrospect. Dessert was a cheese plate, since they listed four cheeses local to the area, I think all from County Mayo. However, they fail to mention on the menu that the cheese plate really should be for the table - the portion I got would have done all six of us just fine...and two of us at the table ordered it. In the words of my project manager, "If cheese before bedtime causes nightmares...then I'm gonna be freakin' out." Anyway, an absolutely delicious blue, rather sharp hard cheese, reminiscent of a Parmesan, a very mild semi-soft, and some good Camembert, with hearty crackers and a spiced apple chutney. It was great, but I couldn't begin to finish it. And on top of that, they also brought out little lemon curd cups, chocolate bites, and a sort of powered sugar and (I think) lavender biscuit, which was the last thing I ate and a great way to end the meal. Service was good, prices a bit higher than Belleek but still not stupid considering the food. I'd certainly return if I had a guest to impress or wanted a special evening.

Unlike most museums in Ireland there was a covercharge - 3Eur per person (children go free), a fee we felt was a bit cheeky considering the content but on a wet and cold Irish summers afternoon it certainly helped pass the time!
