Decent sized venue space in the middle of East Van. Parking is plentiful in the lot surrounding the building. The venue consists of a "large room" and a "small room", which is designed more for 2 separate events. Bit of a walk between them, which led to a bit of confusion as the event I was attending took up both rooms. Fortunately they had plenty of helpful staff to guide us around. read more

I visited this large venue last night for the annual Make-It arts & crafts convention and, for the most part, I was impressed with the facility. I liked how it is easily accessible, being right on Commercial (the Skytrain literally passes right in front of the Center, and the station is a few minutes' walk away). Inside, the CCC is large, comprised of two large rooms (which, of course, open up to each other), ample and modern bathrooms, and is open and clean and easy to navigate. There is free wifi here (bonus!). Ask for the password when you enter. Other reviewers have lauded the parking availability here but, to me, this was the one area I found lacking (hence my 4-star rating and not 5). Sure, when there's a smaller or medium-sized event taking place here, the parking availability would suffice, but for a larger-scale event like the Make-It convention, there definitely was not enough parking stalls in the lot for the amount of vehicles needing one. (Furthermore, the lay-out of the parking lot is not ideal, with offshoots and oddly-shaped smaller lots adjoining the main, primary parking lot in front). Many of us last night were circling the wagons, looking for spots, but all were taken, as were all the spots on neighboring streets (most were designated for "resident permit holders", anyways). We ended up parking a few blocks away at the community center at Trout Lake. Not sure if that was kosher or not. I'm mentioning this for anyone who might have mobility issues and cannot walk far; if that's the case, make sure you go early to your event so as to snag a parking spot in the CCC parking lot. Two stages in two rooms, modern bathrooms, ample parking -- no wonder why folks like hosting events at the Croatian Cultural Centre. It's not so much the space as much as it's the remarkable events that often happen here. Case in point, the Retro Show, this past weekend. Whoever is booking the events does a fantastic job at finding some great ones! And the fact that you can also get a drink, use an ATM or not be grossed out by a bathroom are all assets. Parking tips: arrive early, circle the lot, and if you're without a spot, find yours just north under the skytrain line or on Commercial Drive. I dropped off for flea market today and felt $5 for admission was quite reasonable. Very clean and organized market. I just wished they had table for cafe corner or outside so that people could stay longer. read more

Wow. Nice big hall. The Make-it craft fair fit nicely, if not a teensy bit tightly. I guess bumping bumsies isn't so terrible though. It was totally worth it to visit all the booths of fantasticly creative craftisans. (Yeah I just made up a word, craft/artisan.) I got to the end and had to refocus my eyes. There's a bar! Nice touch. The snack area though.... eek, me thinks not. If you're one of those people with 77 cousins, 33 aunts, and 22 uncles, you'll likely want to check out this spot as a potential venue for any big events. They have a large kitchen and pretty extensive catering facilities The bar at the center is a sports bar, so expect soccer games to be on whenever possible. Great venue for hosting the Vancouver Farmers Market annual craft fair. Great parking, nice open building with a full length bar that I wish was open as I meandered through the vendors selling preserves, honey, and dried legumes. The stage looked big enough to hold plays, weddings, and other large gatherings. It's a wonder why they don't hold concerts here. Don't be afraid to go if an event is being held here, you'll be pleasantly surprised. read more

What a great cultural centre! I dropped by for a flea market today, and the nice big hall combined with the two side rooms was very spacious for all the little trinkets everyone was selling. No wonder there are so many cool events hosted here. The location is also quite nice as there is plenty of parking available, and the skytrain is relatively close too. read more

The Croatian Cultural Centre is a fabulous venue that has lots of free parking and easy access to the Sky Train. They recently did a lot of renovations which made a big difference. I think this might be the largest cultural centres in Vancouver which is why they probably have so many cool ongoing events. read more

My review of the place needs new management for the bingo hall. The tables and the hall are filthy dirty along with the chairs and if you raise these concerns with the management you are kicked out of the hall and ask not to return to play bingo. Its not a place I would rent because you can not trust the management. I would rate it below the average level. read more

Last night I saw a heavy metal concert at the Croatian Cultural Centre and I found that it was extremely poorly planned on the part of the venue's management. I have seen concerts here many times and enjoyed myself at this venue up until now. I have also heard that the changes in the way metal concerts are handled here are new and happen all the time now, which is why a lot of metal fans are now refusing to attend events at this venue. Firstly, the beer garden wasn't open at all. I do not drink alcoholic beverages on a regular basis as I am very health conscious, but I still enjoy having a few beers at metal concerts. Many people were very unhappy about this, including the bands. Secondly, even to people who do not drink beer the beer garden is a welcome area to socialize and rest after standing for long periods of time as there is no appropriate seating anywhere else in the venue. Even without selling alcohol they should have let people sit in this area to rest between performances. Third, the ventilation was very bad! I've never had issues with the ventilation at this venue, but last night was horrible! It was like a hot, humid cigarette smoke vacuum, with the concert hall acting as a vacuum bag. It was so bad that the singer of the headlining act was wheezing and complaining halfway through their set. However, the band played their entire set and put up with the poor air quality, which I appreciate. Throughout the show there was a steady stream of patrons going outside and back just to get fresh air! This shouldn't happen! I do not smoke at all and after I came home my lungs were burning! Lastly, if a venue is going to hold a show that is several hours long and with a 'no in/outs' policy then they should provide better sustenance than potato chips and chocolate bars. If the management at the Croatian Cultural Centre doesn't clean up their act and put at least some human concern ahead of their greed and spiteful views of metal fans then there may be a boycott on attending their venue very soon. read more

We've been to two weddings at this venue and for both the food service was horrendous. The first had FOUR servers for 170 people. The latest started the serving of dinner at 7:30 and the meat arrived at 10 p.m. At our table they gave ONE person her main plate and the rest of us had to wait fifteen minutes. The venue is okay for the rate. I had a family member rent out the place for a day for a baby shower. I must say though... the parking is way too confusing and a lot if our guests were very confused with where to go (especially because there was another event going on). Also we were told that we were not allowed to bring outside food except pastries and baked goods. We also had to have a bartender as well etc. It wasn't too much of a big deal since all of it went well but make sure you read the fine prints when you rent out and double check with them!! Staff were very helpful on the day of the event. Catered food there was meh. read more

My wife and I visit the antique fairs here from Kelowna every year and we love them. Expensive and pop culture stuff all mixed up which is what we like..definitely worth visiting and skip the Vancouver Fea market altogether read more

In response to Julie K I have rented the facilities at the Croatian Cultural Centre countless times since 1991 and I always got everything we agreed on. The Croatian Cultural Centre is the venue, they don't organize the concerts or events. If fifty extra guests show up for your dinner banquet and you didn't order enouph food, whos fault is that? I would say yours. You should do some research before you trash talk. read more

I have been going here for years, however, never thought about it until now to actually review the venue. I call it a venue 'cause I have seen many shows here, however, the sound in the gym is just terrible. It is, however, awesome for trade shows. I have been here for the toy show, antique show, craft fair, gluten free festival, holiday shows, record swap meets, electronics swap meets, comic cons etc. For trade shows it's a good venue as they have all rooms open. I am thankful that there are no more shows here. When they hosted concerts, I almost wanted to wait until I was 21 to hear the band in a better venue. The kitchen is never open these days. It's very hit and miss depending on the show and they have some very strict rules, almost biased rules about food trucks being at events. I went to the record swap meet and had to walk 30 minutes for a decent meal. Not that the burger and fries served at the Croatian were top notch but at least it was something other than cheap packed sandwiches. The ATM outside always runs out of money...FYI read more

WOW not a very professional operation. They took our clubs booking. We signed a contract and paid 50 percent of the 5700.00 rental. We advertised the event. Booked flights and secure several hotel room blocks. They then abruptly cancelled the event with no apology or apparent concern. They are not very informed or organised beware when planning a big event with these guys. Unfortunately we are a non profit with no ability to hold them accountable. read more

We held a wedding reception at the CCC last weekend and it was fabulous. The cost was very reasonable, the food was excellent and plentiful and the waiters were gracious and efficient. The bartender was extremely personable and very entertaining not to mention being a great bartender. The event co-ordinators could not have been more helpful, any addition or changes I required were dealt with expediently. We had rented backdrop curtains from Lonsdale Rentals and when they arrived, discovered they ended 6-7 inches above the floor - not a good look at all. The event co--ordinator Vesna stepped in and basically saved the day by providing a work around that looked even better than what my original design had been. Very talented young lady. The CCC is currently renovating all of their ballrooms and I look forward to seeing the final result. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone who is looking to host either a large or small event as they have a variety of ballrooms to accommodate different sized events. read more
