The venue consists of a "large room" and a "small room", which is designed more for 2 separate events. Bit of a walk between them, which led to a bit of confusion as the event I was attending took up both rooms. Fortunately they had plenty of helpful staff to guide us around.

I liked how it is easily accessible, being right on Commercial (the Skytrain literally passes right in front of the Center, and the station is a few minutes' walk away). Inside, the CCC is large, comprised of two large rooms (which, of course, open up to each other), ample and modern bathrooms, and is open and clean and easy to navigate. There is free wifi here (bonus!). Ask for the password when you enter. Other reviewers have lauded the parking availability here but, to me, this was the one area I found lacking (hence my 4-star rating and not 5). Sure, when there's a smaller or medium-sized event taking place here, the parking availability would suffice, but for a larger-scale event like the Make-It convention, there definitely was not enough parking stalls in the lot for the amount of vehicles needing one. (Furthermore, the lay-out of the parking lot is not ideal, with offshoots and oddly-shaped smaller lots adjoining the main, primary parking lot in front). Many of us last night were circling the wagons, looking for spots, but all were taken, as were all the spots on neighboring streets (most were designated for "resident permit holders", anyways). We ended up parking a few blocks away at the community center at Trout Lake. Not sure if that was kosher or not. I'm mentioning this for anyone who might have mobility issues and cannot walk far; if that's the case, make sure you go early to your event so as to snag a parking spot in the CCC parking lot. FYI.

There is a ticket booth that is way too small (giant lineup), and the main foyer is a really just a small corridor. The main venue room is surprisingly decent in the acoustics department, as there didn't seem to be too much at all (ie insulation, sound panels etc.) in the room. No echoes, but also no muffled sounds. Special mention there. If you need a mid-sized hall for 200-300 (400 if you're doing standing room) people, this place definitely fits the bill.

This is a great venue!…read more Being on Granville Island obviously the location is fabulous! Just being there makes me want to pursue more art, live music and theatre in my life! We went tonight to see Atomic, a European jazz band perform. The space limited the number of guests but also gave a feeling of intimacy. It was nice that we could bring our teenage daughters as there weren't any age restrictions. So nice to have a family friendly venue for live music! They had a small cash bar with basic snacks as well. Good Parking available right in front of Performance Works. Our family has been to private events hosted here as well...a great space!

I've watched 2 musicals and 1 magic show here and the seats were all close enough. I really enjoy picking seats online before the show. Our favourite spots are Upper Centre, Row H. Its first row so nobody will block my view! Not to mention, free parking! This theater is part of Burnaby South high school but during the shows, the set up is quite nice in the foyer. They usually have props set up for pictures too!

It was originally built as a part of Burnaby South Secondary School in 1993, and it was given the name Michael J. Fox theatre in 1995. I love the overall design. It feel and looks like a classic, yet modern theatre. There are 613 theatre seats and you can sit anywhere and you'll get very good view of the stage. The seats are very supportive and comfortable. Firm with good lumbar support. Unlike seats at many theatres that are very soft, seats at this theatre won't put you to sleep. After attending over a dozen assemblies and performances and I didn't experience body pain or discomfort. The stage is large enough to hold some large performances with many performers. The Nutcracker by Goh Ballet was excellent and the performers had a lot of room to do their moves. On rare occasions, Michael J. Fox theatre is used for viewing films. The drop down screen is good, but not great. This isn't a movie theatre for sure. What surprised me the most? Quality. I was at this theatre during opening day in 1993 for school. To this day, the seats look and feel almost like new and they don't squeak. Apparently, this theatre was designed to survive a 8.0 richter earthquake too. Honestly, this is the best theatre in Burnaby for the performing arts.

I was grown up watching lots of 80's and 90's movies and this was the great opportunity to join sound immersive experience with the orchestra. And it's only $19 The catch is this concert artists are still students from Vancouver Academy of Music. But they are great. They had lots of audiences and I was happy to help those kids(some are adults) as well. Everyone are happy. Before I booked online, I checked the seat map by the third party website. They have slight "width" difference. I choose wider seat on aisle and it was very comfortable. There was no price difference. I hope it helps you next time.

We attended Silent Movie Mondays at the Orpheum and watched It (1927) starring Clara Bow, the first…read more"It" girl. She falls in love with the wealthy handsome owner of the department store where she works. The quality of "It" is being attractive and confident. I can't believe it was released almost a hundred years ago. There was a pre-show jazz performance by the Gatsby Strutters Jazz Band and a lecture about the roaring 20s and Clara Bow's life given by Vancouver Film School's Keith Blackmore. The lecture gave us historical context for the film. This is the first black and white silent movie we have ever watched and it was more entertaining than expected. It's a comedy and the entire audience was laughing out loud. The soundtrack to the film was performed by organist Michael Dirk on the the Orpheum's original 1927 Wurlitzer organ. The music they picked paired very well with the film and added a lot of entertainment value. After the show, there was a fashion show and talk held by fashion historian Ivan Sayers. They brought out a few models decked in flapper era clothing such as loose dresses with a low waistline, tight fitting hats, feathers, sequinned gowns, fans and capes. It was a very unique and educational experience. Definitely an event I would go to again. I have seen other Silent Movie Mondays have more instruments playing, like the violin, cello, oboe, saxophone. That would have enhanced the experience.

It is dated, however I feel it's design choices is impeccable for what the venue serves. Those doors don't creek, audience lighting is "mood". Those carpets and walls dampen most footsteps even in-between works. The staff are very professional and not cranky. Bathroom located both on the upper floor and main floors. Those taps in the bathroom does remind one of British influences. Bar area is efficient and snack choices are perfectly non offensive in terms of scents, esp for intermission noshings. Would love to see decaf coffee on the menu as most shows are mid afternoon or evenings. Makes no sense to not have decaf as an option. Also, enforce no metal water bottles in the music hall. There is always one (or more) getting dropped or accidentally kicked in the middle of a work. There are ways to prevent it and I would respect more venues having a stricter code.

This neighbourhood is were the Olympic athletes stayed back in 2010, when Vancouver hosted the Winter Olympics. The theatre holds up to 250 people & was opened in 2015. Meet me at Vie's, tells the story of the iconic Vie's Chicken & Steakhouse restaurant, formerly located on Union St @ Main in Chinatown. In fact if you go there now, you can still see a shell of the building. The rich history of this restaurant is mind boggling. Nora Hendrix, grandmother to Jimi, worked in the kitchen. In fact Jimi would come up to Vancouver from Seattle in the summers. The who's who of entertainment back in the day, passed through here for a meal & to hangout. Lena Horne, Sammy Davis Jr, Dizzy Gillespie, Louie Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald & so many more. Meet me at Vie's, starred Krystle Dos Santos, Dawn Pemberton, Chris Davis & Steve Charles. The music, songs & singing, were all performed in an outstanding show. They all delivered a solid strong performance in taking us back in time to Vie's. The theatre is sparkling new, seating comfortable & up close to the stage. The AC is excellent - great climate control. Keep in mind that although they do sell drinks here, the selection for cocktails & beer is very limited. As well, food is nada. You're better off eating & drinking at one of several bars & restaurants in the area before taking in a performance here. A great venue close to popular False Creek - a gem in downtown Vancouver.

The lounge area wasn't big, but it had popcorn, drinks and some standing area. What I really like was the inside seating area. The seats were super comfortable and because the theatre wasn't huge, wherever you sat was basically a front row view of the theatre. I really like the intimate and cozy feel. What was also great was at the end, you can sill have drinks and chat about the play in the lounge area. This theatre is in the heart of Olympic Village so you can have dinner or a nice walk before the show. Parking is limited to metered street parking unless you park pretty far away. An alternative is to take the skytrain to the theatre.
