Entrance for me and 17 yo was $5. They take visa. Interesting story of Camel Brigade and Buffalo Soldiers. We didn't see anything too scenic but we did find historic Fort Lancaster. We got off the 10 hoping to find a place to stretch our legs and instead found ... amazing! Amazing points: They allow dogs INSIDE the museum. They let you check out a golf cart to tour the fort ruins for free. They have a great video that explains how the fort was the only one ever attacked and how the Buffalo Soldiers defended it. They have an interactive dress up area for kiddies WITH accessories. They have a cute camel that kids can climb on because the arm actually brought camels to use. The bookstore is bananas with a great selection of books and a TON of cute toys. The guy that works there LOVES his job and told us the story of the battle with a little diorama and emphasis on the dramatic parts. It was only $4 per adult and kids under 6 are free. The golf cart rental is free. We had a great time. The kids really enjoyed it and it was wonderful to be able to enjoy the museum with our pup. I'm sure he enjoyed the air conditioning.

They had a scavenger hunt in the museum for the kids. The tour lady helped them find the items they were having trouble with and even had very nice prizes for them when they were done. The court house and oak shaded lawns are beautiful with lots of space for the kids to run and get out some energy and picnic. Awesome way to spend a few hours checking out this quaint town while passing thru.

The locomotive outside is available for visitors to explore. The exhibit and model train set up gives a great sense of the history in San Angelo. Catch Floyd there every Saturday. He worked as a telegraph operator using Morse Code and he's always ready to give visitors a demo of his talent. This is an all around great place for a family outing. Highly recommend!

Modern architecture, nice patio outside, etc. I had no idea it would be so snoozy. Admission was $2 per adult, and honestly? It should be free! There's really NOTHING to see. The museum is only 3 floors, and the first floor consists of administrative offices. The second floor hosted a gift shop (small), a permanent exhibit (very small, 1 room) and a non-permanent exhibit, Sacred Visions, which was essentially just a bunch of creepy religious relics. There was a pretty fountain in the middle. The third floor hosted a permanent exhibit, which also consisted of religious relics. The entire time we were there, a docent followed us around creepily. I know docents are common in museums...but seriously? We were the ONLY people in the museum, and she was watching us like we were going to steal something. Not cool. It's a shame that this museum isn't more interesting. It seems like this neck of the woods would have a lot of old culture to it.

Fort Concho is one of several preserved U.S. cavalry forts established in the 19th century designed to protect the west Texas frontier. This one was established in 1867, and the Fort Concho Foundation has done a good job preserving the remaining buildings. One of the Buffalo Soldier regiments was stationed here, but there's not a whole lot of info posted about their stay here. According to the Fort Concho web site, they have a guided tour Wednesday through Sunday. I visited on a Wednesday but was only informed of the self-guided tour ($3 per person). The self guided tour begins with the officers' quarters and is a bit disappointing. The buildings are wonderfully preserved but there's just not a lot to see or even read about. When I got to the enlisted side of the fort, there was a lot more info, history, and things to see. Park across the street for free in the farmer's market parking lot on South Oakes Street. Make sure you stop by the mule barn behind the enlisted barracks. It's not a historic building, but you can check our four or five mules if you like. Pro Tip: One of the buildings on the officers' side of the fort has an antique telephone museum located within. It has nothing to do with the fort, but it's still fun to checkout.

This is one Amazing Tour of what took place 'yesteryear' for 50 years of operating and is a must stop for anyone to attend. They also give you a 'wooden token' that is redeemable for one-dollar-in-trade for Girls, Whiskey or Tobacco - they just don't tell you where (I asked - hey, I was just curious). There is also a "Miss Hatties Cafe & Saloon" just a couple doors down from the Bordello. We ate there a few times and enjoyed the experience with a decor of 'yesteryear' - and they will also point out where the tunnel was from the Bordello that came up where the restaurant is now. The 'Museum' is a magnificent tour, all on the Second Floor via lots of stair-steps - and in original condition.

The museum is started as one couples' personal collection on their farm this collection includes gemstones, arrowheads, medical equipment, shells, a bar from a soda fountain, and other assorted nicknacks of all kinds. Including a collection of cat paraphernalia ("Hang in there baby" and Kuther posters), Hummels, and such. It is not as organized as I remember, but I highly recommended giving them a donation.
