When I pulled up (it was branded as a Valero on the outside, I guess Robinson is the owner of the c-store portion inside) the exterior was filthy and littered all over with trash. On the ground next to the pump was a half-eaten can of ravioli with a metal fork stuck in it. I am not sure how that happens, or how people be travelling on road trips these days, but that just struck me as problematic and odd at best, but I can use my active imagination and speculate. I am sure there is a more interesting story that I will never know about. If you all ever pull up for gas in small town Americana and see a half-eaten ravioli can (why only half-eaten???) with a metal fork left behind in it (why bring a home-fork with you on the road when there are plastic forks and sporks available!!!!) let me know the deets, we can get a big map out on corkboard with push pins and multicoloured string and act like we are trying to track down the Zodiac, because I know something interesting is going on in the mind of this fella. I actually have had coursework in forensic psychology, and seen a few episodes of Criminal Minds, so I know we are dealing with a man on this - every lady ever has enough sense not to bring a home-fork with you out on the road AND leave it behind, that is the work of a man's brain. I went inside for an icee and they didn't even have a machine for that, that is how small town and misbegotten we are talking about in this location. I got something out of the refrigerator and went to pay and there was a whole ordeal where you needed to stick a plastic card (for the pizza business over yonder) into the credit card reader underneath your credit card since the reader didn't work real good. The cashier was attempting to explain that is just how it is in the store. I rued not carrying any cash that day. My credit card came out of the reader and plastic card underneath it dirty, like the machine and/or the plastic card coughed exhaust on it. This was a filthy, disgusting experience. There was a gas station a mile further into Crockett that was attached to a Whataburger, so I really made a mistake pulling off at the first one I saw. Skip this gas station and go a mile down the road until you hit the gas station attached to a Whataburger and that is your classic two birds, one stone situation.

I walked in planning to spend maybe 20 minutes max just to buy a few souvenirs, snacks, and a few things to take home to my kids and family. Shortly after I walked in, I was approached and told I wasn't allowed to be there because I came in a semi truck. I explained that I was only going to be inside for a few minutes to buy a few items, but I was told they would not allow me to purchase anything. I was also told, "Unfortunately truckers are not welcome." Those were his exact words. That was extremely disappointing to hear. Truck drivers are a huge part of what keeps this country moving. We deliver the products businesses sell every single day, including the products sitting on Buc-ee's shelves. To be told we're not welcome and not even allowed to make a purchase is sad and frustrating. Because of this experience, I will never return to Buc-ee's again, not even in my personal vehicle. I'd much rather spend my money at a truck stop or any business that welcomes everyone and appreciates the people who help keep America moving.

The coffee section is well stocked, and if you're in a rush, don't worry because there are barcodes on the coffee cups that you can take straight to the self check-out.

It's not a Buc-Ees but it is impressive!…read more Lots of new pumps, a huge General store with a Cinnabon and a Taco Bell right inside, a pizza and food area, lots of snack and drink selections, CLEAN bathrooms, and service! They even have self check out registers!! Gas is priced on par with everyone else. The whole establishment is clean and organized. This is a nice gas station option that I will be sure to hit from now on.

Some of the best prices in the triangle…read more That's a term I made up to describe the area of Texas most commonly traversed... the triangle between Austin, Dallas and Houston. Poor San Antonio. Such a logical point of this triangle and forever left out of the national psyche. This Shell station is part of the Woody's Smokehouse Empire. They almost always have gas that is $0.10 or even 20 to 25 cents cheaper than all of the stations up and down the highway. They also caused the Chevron across the street to have really low gas prices. They have plenty of pumps on both sides of the highway and it's hard not to give them 5 stars.
