I was so shocked and offended by my treatment that I made an appointment with my previous primary care physician before even leaving the parking lot.

I had good insurance so he kept me coming back and coming back, racking up charges for office calls and procedures I'd already had done, telling me repeatedly "We don't want to rush into this" when I'd ask him, "When are you going to treat my Thyroid?". Over a period of several visits with nothing being done I also developed Graves disease, and my physical condition continued to worsen with a weight loss from 175 to 142 in one month. Needless to say two days after my last visit with Meriden I went into a Thyroid Storm. My personal physician had me admitted to the University of Iowa Medical Center that very day, (their Endocrinologist said "I arrived just in time"). Thanks to Iowa City and their excellent Endocrinology Department I survived but my recovery took several months before I could resume working. My family physician actually apologized to me for referring me to Meridin.
