The company we hired to replace our roof contracted out to cross country to take care of our solar panels. The solar system worked perfectly before they came into the picture. About six weeks ago, they took the panels down so the roof could be replaced. The whole project was supposed to take one week. They put the panels back up at a very slow rate, coming for an hour or two or three at a time, late in the day. Then they stopped coming. Our solar does not work. They say they are waiting for someone else to tell them why it doesn't work. Meanwhile, our electric bill which is usually $14 dollars a month (because of the solar system) was $140 dollars. Now we are well into our second month and still waiting for our solar system to come back online. read more

I was referred to Cross country from my neighbor who got a solar installed and told me they basically drive for free (Tesla) and don't pay an electric bill anymore. I had no idea the state was paying for 3/4 of the system. When they came out to go over numbers and check the integrity of the roof, they noticed a ton of hail damage and literally got me a new roof! Which was from a storm that happened 9 months prior. I'm not a big fan of getting on my roof and it was only a few years old and looked nice from ground. Timing was in my favor, because apparently if I would have put a claim in 3 months later, I would have had to come out of pocket.I have multiple buildings on my property. My home and three of my cabins were destroyed from hail. So we're my windows, which I didn't even see to be honest, but they put down chalk and I saw all the dents. I got brand new pella windows and my metal roof on my shop replaced, which was previously leaking before the storm. My electric bill for my 20 acre parcel used to run 2k a month. I have a pool, with 3 ponds, 2 homes, a metal shop, and 4 cabins. I ended up going with a ground mount and panels on my shop. I went with the financing, and my bill went from 2k to $500 a month. I am very disappointed in this company!! I have called at least 6 times to have this piece of siding that was cut short to be redone.. Last year when this happened he said he had to special order this piece so I have been patently waiting.. They have just messed out on a kitchen redo!!! read more

Had them put new siding six windows was supposed to put gutters and downspouts never did get them lots of sloppy work my new windows leak more air than my old windows ordered two windows the wrong size I had to supply the wood so they can space them out I had to supply the wood for the trim because old trim would not work now talk to the owner Brett herring didn't seem like he cared to get the problem fixed got a new contractor coming out to see what it's going to cost me to get everything fixed because of their poor workmanship I had storm damage that took siding off above windows had a tarp put over it the tarp blew off they would not come back to replace it had water come in all the way to the basement had to replace my flooring also I wish there was negative views read more

Buyer Beware: We signed a contract in 12/2020 to get solar installed at our house. The installation was started on 5/8, 2021 and completed on 5/26, 2021. They sold us 40 panels but we found out only 20 panels were allowed to be hooked up. In 8/2021 ComEd only approved 1/2 but not the whole system, and we found out later that Cross Country had sold us a system twice the size of what we needed. We tried to call their salesperson John and were told that he was no longer with the company. Sydney, their solar administrator had also left. After the run-around from the company, in 12/2021 we decided to contact the owner Brett Haring. After a dozen of left messages, texts, and emails Brett finally called us back 4 months later. We wanted to know why only half of the panels were connected, why the system was not performing as promised, and why they had not been provided the promised rebates and the Federal tax credit. Cross Country didn't fulfill its contract, didn't hook everything up yet took the money for the entire system. We gave Brett 3 options: (1) remove the entire system and refund all monies paid; (2) remove half the system and refund half the monies paid & provide promised rebates and tax credits; or (3) complete installation of the entire system to provide the promised kWh & provide promised rebates and tax credits. He chose the third option. He hooked them all up, but since the inverters were too small it still didn't produce. We had to follow up with him continuously to find out how he's going to address this. This went on from 4/2021 - 5/2/2023. After countless texts and phone calls, he finally agreed to send an electrician out on 4/12/2023 to add another inverter. Electrician was here for 1 day, disconnected everything, and never came back. After pushing him to get this addressed Brett finally sent another electrician out on 5/2/23. The second electrician was here for a few hours, went to get parts, and never came back. We asked for all the panels to be hooked up, instead they disconnected everything, left over 20% live wires hanging, and no solar for 9 weeks. With live wires dangling and no timeline of when this will be addressed, we said we would have to take care of this ourselves. Brett's response was "that would help me out immensely since I'm so busy with the storm. Send me the bill and I'll pay for it". The challenge we're experiencing is that most companies will not want to finish what someone else has started. After reaching out to many companies, Green Link has agreed to hook up the remaining panels for us and also fix some electrical wiring issues that they found. Brett had said he would take care of the bill, however when we sent him the receipt he did not return any of our phone calls or text messages. We've been trying to reach him for over a week and no response. This has been a nightmare for us, and just when we thought things couldn't possibly get worse they did get worse. Since our first conversation with Brett in 2021, not once did he ever take the initiative to call us or follow up as promised. It's been 3 years since we signed this contract and we can't seem to get this company to do their part and fulfill their contract. We were told that we would be getting incentives and rebates and have yet received 1 penny. read more

10/2018 I wanted to take this time to write about this company, especially a man named, Marc Gonzales (5 star top Project Manager) from Rockford IL. My elderly Mother had some leaking coming in through her customized fit sky windows. I (her daughter) called Marc Gonzales LM and he got back to me straight away. The next day, he was able to come out and review the leaking source on the roof. Marc's level of knowledge and his professional detailed explanation of the source that was leaking, was brilliant! He was able to articulate the issue to us in a way that was comprehensive to us, as we are not roofing experts. To have a subject matter expert come to an elderly woman's home and feel as if he were a friend, and not someone who is there to hustle an elderly woman. This meant the world to us! So in return, he won my respect and future business. We also learned, he is not just a roofing expert but has a vast array of other services they provide. In closing, Marc Gonzales, who has also done 'brilliant' work on my Aunt's house, deserves a 5 star rating. This applies to him personally as well. I contracted this business to remediate and rebuild flood damage to my basement in August of 2014. We signed a contract stating that all work would be completed by 9-10-2014. It is now 2-9-15. The work is not completed. On top of that, he sent me a bill. He refuses to come back and complete the work but charges me for a completed job. read more

Last May my wife was cutting up avocados on a bamboo cutting board and left it on top of our gas stove. The next morning our family golden retriever decided to counter-surf for food and her paw turned on the burner right under the cutting board. We know this because we have nest cams in our house so we have it all on video. Long story short, tons of smoke damage, basically a complete tear-out of the whole main level. It was amazing the whole house didn't burn down! We hired Cross Country to handle the claim and do the entire remodel. They managed every aspect of the job and listened to our requests, which was amazing considering how busy they were at the time!
