Called in for cut on busy Saturday told to be there in one hour. Showed 15 minutes early and still waited 50 minutes more. Started to leave but was stopped and told please wait that I was next. Her and another was only ones taking walk ins yet I had called in. Two more walk ins and took them both and ignored me. Being a regular since moving to the area but never again. Stopped by Cross Cuts Barber Shop today and was immediately greeted by a smiling face in a barber shop that had all but one chair filled with customers getting haircuts and/or shaves. Judy greeted me and told me that she would be cutting my hair. My hair had not been cut for a few months due to a medical issue so it was long and had grown past my collar and over my ears. Judy cut my hair with skill and care. After she finished cutting my hair, she gave me a neck massage which was heavenly!!! She then used a straight razor to shave my neck. This barber shop closes at 7 pm. I walked in before 7 and a women who appeared to be late 40s with black straight hair said "we are closed we already counted down the register" if your establishment closes at 7, then you need to take customers until 7. There's another barber shop across the street I will patronize instead. read more

Jan is one of the few hairdressers/barbers to make a fresh cut look great on me. It really improved my confidence every time I would visit. She made conversation as if she'd known me a while for an overall comfortable and friendly experience. Fantastic lady! However, I called today to inquire about her schedule given COVID-19 precautions and was told by the woman answering the call that Jan is no longer at Cross Cuts. A really cool hole in the wall! It's very vintage, and fun! My boyfriend had only ever been to Great Clips his entire life, and I told him to go somewhere that would give him better quality every time. He was super scared of the idea, and eventually I forced him out and took him here and he got his favorite haircut he's ever had, and is a returning customer every few months! Would not recommend. The barber I had did not take the time to listen to what I wanted and cut based on what she thought would be best and not me. Ended up with a bad cut. I encountered the owner the other day. What an honor...The usual person that I preferred to cut my hair was not there and that was not a big deal. At the time, I didn't know she was the owner until she told me later when she was being loud with me. I was very clear on how to cut it. I provided what I would consider a reasonable amount of detail...how high to cut it on the sides etc. It didn't take long for things to go haywire when she started taking the clippers towards the top of my head by the time I stopped or the damage was already done. I tried to talk to her calmly. She began to get irate and talking loud. She would not let me speak! She has terrible terrible customer service. I have been there at least 8 to 10 times and have had a good experience everyone there has always been polite nice professional and has cut my hair the way that I ask. She got a severe attitude and it was impossible to talk to her. She would not let me speak and kept cutting me off. I was trying to get somebody else at this point in there to cut my hair and I did not mind waiting. No one in the place would step up and almost seemed like the other three people in there that were cutting hair we're too afraid of her to stand up and say something. I suppose if you go there and it doesn't work out, expect to get yelled at. The girl who usually cuts my hair is Lily and she's fantastic!!! This woman, the owner, made sure she told me she trained everybody in there on how to cut hair...especially Lily. I told her that I explained how to cut my hair the exact same way to everyone else in there as I did with her. However she's the only one that decided to take a set of electric clippers towards the top of my head for no reason at all. I don't think she heard a word I said...she was too busy trying to line up her next statement with attitude. No matter how much I let her talk just. When I thought she was done and I attempted to calmly say something to her she would start up again with the attitude and being loud. She really needs to learn what customer service is in that there's no way whatsoever do you treat a customer like that. I had to come home and finish cutting my own hair. I could tell she was short of patience, perhaps because it was the end of the day, or she was aggravated that I had requested the usual person that cuts my hair. Doesn't really matter what her problem is it's just not right to treat people like that if you want to have a good business. I feel bad for the other people that work there and hope she doesn't act like that towards them when people are not around. While all this is only hair and will eventually grow out I'll just have to walk around for the next month looking like an idiot! Thanks a lot lady. I should've waited on Lily. Oh and by the way one star is too much it doesn't let you choose zero stars. This is by far the worst customer service that I have received anywhere in any situation as a consumer. I have never been argued with and talk to the way that this lady, the OWNER MIND YOU, chose to talk to me. It's not so much as not cutting the hair my hair the way that I asked it was all of the attitude that she had to give, it was completely uncalled for. I understand that people make mistakes but if they have the right attitude and act like an adult then it's not a big deal. I would like to think she can cut hair well considering she's the owner. She needs to work on her listening and comprehension skills and her people skills. I'm sure that if she had someone working for her that did what she did... she would've fired them. read more
