Food pantry line was wonderful. I am grateful for all that I received from them. It helps me because I am limited on what groceries I can buy because I don't get much in spousal support to make ends meet. Everyone that volunteered was gracious and warm welcoming. read more

Never have i ever been somewhere so inconsistent and worked with people so manipulative under the disguise of a push for "authenticity". I've seen people pushed away to make way for the "pastor's friend". I've seen passionate people with Go given gifts shot down and fired. I've seen inconsistent ministry that changes with the wind from month to month. I have gone there for 10 years. I have grown closer to God but not because of Cross Timbers. I feel like I knew no one there and the few I did were either pushed aside, fired, or moved in to a healthier and better more consistent church to work at. The majority of people I got to know were in the tech and worship arts team. I've seen pastor's that don't give a darn about you. You can go 10 years at a church and still be able to count your interactions with a pastor on 2 hands. When my family was going through the thick of it, not one person reached out. When my brother was in the hospital and the youth team knew, they did nothing. The church I spent my younger years at, someone would have always been there. This is very much a who you know church. If you want to truly be plugged in, you have to know the right people. It's funny how thier recent push for "authenticity" has involved pushing away dedicated musicians that have played with the band for years as well as audio engineers that knew CT services like the back of their hand. The audio engineers and contract staff of several years got rewarded for all their hard work by being forced to become part time employees and having their pay and hours essentially cut in half. This deterred most of the experienced and consistent techs. it's funny how any internship opportunities that funds were raised for ended up being given to the pastor's friends and people less qualified and new to the church ended up being picked over the more qualified candidates. It's interesting how every time someone gets fired, the staff either turns up their nose to pretend they know nothing or it's a "God took Will and Crystal in a new direction". Really? When did worldly and fleshly desires within the inner workings of a church become "God's plan"? "God's plan" is not a term that can be thrown around as a license for churches to treat people how terribly they want. Also, it's the middle of August and this church still hasn't opened. Life church is open. Gateway is open. This world needs the church now more than ever and all Cross Timbers can seem to be concerned about is money to build their new campus. Multi millions to establish a new campus when they struggle with consistency at their existing campuses. I remember when there was a Keller campus. I remember when there was an Eagle Mountain Campus. I even remember Corinth. What do all of their have in common? They're all closed. Here's a thought. Before expanding, try being good stewards and build consistent ministry with what you have. You can start with the audio console that costs about the same as 2 decent cars and fix the monitor connection. Instead of running it 24/7/365, try servicing it. Get it fixed. The dust it's collecting from not being covered can damage the delicate components on the board. Running it constantly is not good for the overall life of the board. Also, it's pretty lazy and stupid when you don't shut something down ever just because 1 of like 5 screens happens to not work some of the time. If you like CT, all power to you. Don't work there tho. If you have a creative mind with big and new ideas, don't work for their tech or creative department. You'll leave feeling like your ideas are worthless and everything you do has to fit in a tiny box. I'm thankful to have found a church that has champned my gifts and is loving to their tech team and musicians as God would be. If you want a good church with community, keep searching. They are out there and totally worth not settling for less like I did for over 10 years. read more

After trying a few different churches a co-worker recommended Cross Timbers Denton. I wasn't sure how I would like it since the pastor isn't there but a video but wanted to give it a shot. From the first time I went I knew it was the right choice. Everyone is so nice and welcoming and I could feel God's love all around me. The praise and worship is wonderful. There are several opportunities to be involved and help out. I have only gone a few times but look forward to growing there and building relationships. read more

This is a TERRIFIC non-denominational church with terrific music, TERRIFIC preaching, great employees, great & friendly volunteers, excellent programs, excellent pastors, powerful/deep messages, AMAZING morals, and more! There's even coffee and donuts! The head pastor, Toby Slough, seems very intellectual of the bible, does GREAT things, is funny, and isn't, in my opinion, overly preachy! You really feel like you're at home! read more

Pastor Nelson and his staff are incredible! They tell you the truth and even though it may be hard to hear sometimes, it is always backed by the Bible and what God intended and wants for His people. How amazing is that?! You really get to dig deep in this church. My Dad always says, "we're getting Seminary teaching for free". And it's so true! DBC is wonderful for all ages and has many ways to plug yourself into the Body of Christ. I grew up in AWANA, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, Sports World, and more! I gave my life to Christ the first time I went because I was so moved! The worship is beautiful and sets the mood for you to connect with God perfectly. I didn't feel pushed or out of place at all. The pastor even offers a monthly evening where he meets with you to tell you more about the churches specific beliefs and to get to know him and some of the staff better. They give so much of their income to other missions and what not that they believe in and put little back into the church, but enough to be able to provide for a great staff, lots of events, and a good kids education. I served on the Kids Experience Team and never ONCE spoke about sexual orientation to any child, parent, or guest, as it is not my place nor in my prerogative to do so. I did come out to some of my friends who also were on the Kids Experience team. From that, someone told the leader of that team(at the time). The leader of the team and the campus pastor then proceeded to conduct a meeting with all of the people I told, not including me, and told all the parents to bring their kids to church early for said meeting. When one parent said she knew who it was(and didn't mention a name) they said my name when referring to me after that, proving they do NOT care about the PRIVACY of their members, by doing this they put me at risk. I would like to also mention the way we found out about this meeting was through another parent, they did not tell us that this was happening. They then scheduled a meeting with my parents and "outed" me to them(they already knew). My parents told them they would NOT be returning or donating anymore money to church who encourages hate. After 2 weeks, they finally scheduled a meeting with me, telling me I was off the Kids team and to "go on my journey with god." These people told me to talk to god about my sexuality and urged me to keep coming to their church. They told me I was the first person to serve with them to be "suspended" from the kids team because of this reason. After that I kept going to services, hoping that maybe I would feel better. I don't know if I was just more intune with it than before or what the deal was, but EVERY SERMON, no matter the circumstance, talked about how being gay was a sin and it was horrible and you shouldn't do it blah blah blah. After that I left, and 2 other family's left as well. I would never suggest this church to anyone, the way they treated me after this I will never forget. I haven't been to church for years because of this situation and fell into a depression. I started condemning God for the things that these people put me through, because that's what I associated with him. I have found my way back but I still suffer many doubts because of these individuals. I have never been to church that embodied the expression "No better hate than christian love" more.

Their "worship" music is awful and written by their music team, and rarely even mention God. Now they are starting a campaign to milk their attendees out of 25 million dollars. Avoid this place like the plague, at least until they get their grubby hands on all that money! They are going to tell people to cash in their 401K's to fund. Have heard this one before! Only a glutton for punishment would attend this place!

The church is more of a contemporary non denominational church with lots of music, singing, praise. The pastors are very good, the message is clear and impactful and relevant to every day life. The church has lots of programs, groups, activities to be involved with if you like too. Also, the church has its own HUGE private school on the same grounds. Very nice school, high quality education, with lots of sports facilities that are visible from the road. I very much recommend stopping by if you are looking for a church to call home on this side of town.

I have been a member of this church for 15 years. I was not a member of any church before I started…read moreregularly attending services here. I felt at home from my first visit. I have always been a doubter about the historical accuracy of mainstream christianity. Horizon allows me to be comfortable with my spiritual thoughts and not have to conform to a common creed. The birth of my daughter was the reason for my family looking for a church to join. The youth programs at Horizon are definitely one of the biggest plusses of this church. Your kids can learn religion in an environment that doesn't threaten them with eternal damnation if they wish to be different. Horizon is a "welcoming" congregation. That means they are fully accepting of gay members. That being said, there are very few gay people that attend the church. Still, mostly straight members of our congregation regularly participate in the Dallas Gay Pride parade. Gay weddings are performed by the minister. The Unitarian Universalist denomination was created in 1961 as a combination of the Unitarian and the Universalist Churches of America. Both churches have a long history starting with the early Christians. 'Unitarian' refers to the unity of God rather than being formed in 3 parts. 'Universalist' doctrine refers to a loving God who offers universal salvation to all people, not just those obedient to God. Over time the theology of the church has evolved to accept spiritual wisdom from beyond Christianity. Our worship services can include elements of Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Humanism and Paganism. Horizon UU Church has been around since 1987. We moved to our current location in 1995 and recently completed new construction to expand the building. Horizon may not be everyone's cup of tea but it has been right for me.
