Been going to DBC since my family and I moved to Denton, over 20 years ago! We've seen the church grow and have always left with newfound knowledge and understanding. Pastor Nelson and his staff are incredible! They tell you the truth and even though it may be hard to hear sometimes, it is always backed by the Bible and what God intended and wants for His people. How amazing is that?! You really get to dig deep in this church. My Dad always says, "we're getting Seminary teaching for free". And it's so true! DBC is wonderful for all ages and has many ways to plug yourself into the Body of Christ. I grew up in AWANA, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, Sports World, and more! It's such a refreshing church and so encouraging to be in a place like Denton Bible. I encourage anyone and everyone to go! Your life will be forever changed. read more

FINALLY! I found a church that digs deep into the Bible every Sunday AND has America's best Bible teacher who brings so much clarity, and insight. Sunday service is mind blowing, exciting and FUN! And best of all, they get you involved as the hands and feet of Jesus in amazing ways. It's the highlight of my week and my life. Only wish I had known about this church while my kids were young. This is a one of a kind church. This church has an amazing pastor who teaches the Bible like how you've probably never heard before. He stays true to the scriptures and doesn't sway. He makes the Bible make sense and really makes you listen. He is really funny and an amazing man overall. The church has lots of ministries and the people are great. The name of the church is very accurate to what they believe. They believe in the Bible and do not go outside of that for truth. They teach sin, Jesus, and the resurrection. If you are a Bible believing Christian, you will not be disappointed. read more

Been going here my entire life. Denton Bible Church is a God-fearing, Bible-believing church, and the strongest one I have ever been to. The Bible is taught weekly, and there are so many ministries that help benefit the community, both within and outside of the church! The SWEAT team is great, helps older folks who can't always do things like mow their yard, or pay for home maintenance, etc. They also have a great special needs ministry! Also, for all the haters out there...Denton Bible is a traditional Bible Church, not a modern Bible church, so don't expect a sugarcoated version of the Bible, where homosexuality is welcomed, and everyone goes to heaven. The Bible is very clear on these topics, so you might want to read up on that before you make assumptions. read more

We have been going to this church for about 7 years now. They are they only bible church that has a special needs ministry. You have no idea how comforting and at home we felt, after prayer for a home church for so long. Tom Nelson is a expository teacher with decades of knowledge and scripture memorization. He can really get you deep into the word of God and bring history and facts you never knew. I love my big church family at Denton Bible. read more

I would never recommend this church to anyone. I was a semi-member for about a year when I was going to UNT. The day I left was the day I had to sit through a sermon comparing the story of Zackariah to telling a homosexual on SouthWest Airlines that their life style is ungodly and disgusting. I felt like that was way over the line and I am pretty sure there are a billion other examples that could have been used! This sermon was not taught by Tommy Nelson but another person who would preach when Nelson was on breaks. This way of learning maybe for some people but in no way for me! read more

I have been attending for 3 years and member for 2 1/2... the people here are the best! They have been by my and my family's side through good, bad, and the ugly! They live with open hearts and minds! I would recommend this church family to anyone looking for a home! read more

I loved DBC in college and into young adulthood, as I believed the teachings to be bible-based and truthful. It was very substantive, and deferred only to the Word of God--or so I thought. Imagine my horror when I discovered that Tom Nelson did what I thought he never would--he endorsed Trump. I was disgusted, not only because Trump is filthy garbage and is what I thought to be the antithesis of the beliefs of DBC, but it was sick that Tom Nelson was telling his congregation to vote for one candidate over another. How on earth the current P--y grabber in chief is more of a "Christian" candidate over the other option is beyond me, but at that moment, I felt as if my entire DBC experience had been a lie. I just attended DBC for the 2nd time in the young adults/singles group and I am very impressed. I already feel like I am apart of the community and everyone is very welcoming and friendly. I appreciate the meaningful questions in our small group and the very insightful conversations we have. I also attended the sermon today and Tom did a great job in Revelations. DBC seems very traditional and it's a huge church but for me that's what I'm looking for at this point in my life. I'm looking forward to many years here. read more

This is church is not for everyone! If you are looking for a group of people that are interested in exposition of the Bible, this is the place for you. If you are interested in joining a community of people who desire to share the Gospel, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a place to serve, there is a place for you. This reformed congregation of Christ centered believers is amazing. They word of God is taught in expository style teaching. Tom Nelson is gifted in teaching the word of God and has an exceptional understanding of history and theology. This is a deciple making church and has spirit lead people that truly love God. DBC has a special needs ministry and truly show compassion to those with disabilities. I truly feel gifted with a sound bible believing church. read more

The word of God is very much alive in this church! I have never experienced such deep teaching. It's expository, not topical which I love as topical teaching often misrepresents scripture and takes it way out of context. DBC is a beacon of Truth in the darkness and based on some of the comments here, God's word confronts and often offends the sinner. Student ministries is absolutely amazing. The youth pastors have partnered with us by gearing up our daughters to be a unwavering witness in a fallen world by knowing God's word and building their relationship with the living God. read more

Denton Bible Church is a church that believes what the Bible teaches. They don't teach their opinion, they teach from God's Word. God's word does not evolve, it doesn't change with society and it's whims, it teaches what is right. Might not be popular with todays indecency and immorality but you can always find a church that swings whichever way you want to swing. Beware of false teachers that will tell you whatever you want to hear and "if it feels good, do it". Tommy Nelson may not tell you what you WANT to hear, but he will tell you the TRUTH on biblical right and wrong. Highly recommend. read more

If you imagine the worst stereotypes of religion and Christian theology, you'd come up with something very similar to this church. The Word of God is very dead here, reduced to a narrative stripped of mystery and complexity -- as God must be, and His attributes like grace and peace certainly are. This church is great for hearing a political message as clipped and simplified as a campaign talking point, but if you want to grow your faith, you'd be better off contemplating God alone in your home or at a public park. read more

Tommy Nelson is a great man of God, he helps people understand the true meaning of living the Christian life, through transformed lives. I want to say, that the student that gave DBC a poor rating is only on the start of her journey with Christ and others should not take her advice seriously. Was able to download his sermons from that time & they're just as wonderful and impactful today as they were then! Excellent studies on Song of Solomon. My wife and I did this study at our church and we love it. Pastor Nelson is funny and is very entertaining. Also bible believing doctrine which is straight from the Bible. No one is perfect but only God. Keep spreading Gods love. read more

I agree with the other one star reviews. I attended several years back as a young college student because Denton Bible Church is very popular amongst college students at UNT yet I found it to be one of the creepiest churches I've ever been to. I can't believe that it is still in business. I went to a total of six priggish virtue signaling sermons. In my opinion the elderly pastor's approach was too abrasive and sanctimonious. Despite their contemporary façade and excellent musical productions the theological dogma they preach is very doom and gloom and puritanically old fashioned. The young adult bible study meetings located within the community of Denton Texas felt like groupthink indoctrination sessions. In my opinion the young adult bible study leaders were sanctimonious, controlling, and puritanical. They seemed to have selfish hidden agendas that did not benefit me. I felt there was a vacuous lack of warmth, empathy, and compassion as well. Ultimately, I felt unwelcomed and unimpressed. I never returned. read more

Denton Bible preaches the Word of God as it is written. Darkness does not like light and Denton Bible, through The Word, exposes darkness. This said, there is no condemnation to those of us who confess our sins and turn to Jesus Christ. Denton Bible is a Spirit filled church where the Lord's presence ishines. read more

First off, I think a person has to actually visit a church to find out if it is right for them. It's a personal decision and everyone has different spiritual needs. After moving to Denton, My husband and I needed to find a new church, we visited several but when we visited Denton Bible Church, I realized I found a church where the pastor actually explains the Bible. He isn't afraid to "tell it like it is". That might turn some people off. But the Bible doesn't change as society changes. The sermons are not watered down to try to keep everybody comfortable. He will make you think and challenge you. That's what I really love about DBC. It has made me excited to open my Bible again. That never happened at my old church or at other ones I had visited. After the sermon, I want to study more and look forward to the next Sunday. How else can we grow as Christians if we don't have the desire to study or even open our Bible? Visit and see. read more

Will someone please explain exactly HOW this church retains its TAX EXEMPT STATUS while hosting a group in their church building who are campaigning for political candidate Mike Brucia? If this church as chosen to use their tax emempt property as a political gathering location for an event that is no part of their religion, then this church needs to pay taxes on their property just like every other business does already. read more
