Jeff, the mortgage broker, was very difficult to get ahold of, misplaced paperwork and delayed our closing the third time because he had to send an appraiser out for a second time. When we finally made it to the closing table, the loan didn't find, despite the closing taking place in the early afternoon. All of our clients had to go back a second day once the loan for the buyer finally funded. It was disappointing and frustrating for my clients and most of those involved. They make money by being late and charging you for it!…read more We have refinanced our home mortgage using Mr. Richter and his team from Ann Arbor, MI in July 2014. When we applied, Mr. Richter promised me that our application will be done in less than 30 days. It lasted over 65 days and even after closing they have asked for more documents and signatures for two weeks. Just 48 hours before the closing they presented me with a charge of over $1,000 for extension of the interest lock. Once I called to ask if such delay was our fault, Mr. Mitchell explained me that it was not our fault and that the delay was caused by subcontractors they used. Based on my experience, such delay is also caused by their internal disorganization as well. Since I was presented with option to pay or there would be no closing, I had no option but to pay hoping that they would justify the charges. Mr. Mitchell tried to justify the charges, but the numbers didn't match his story and the closing settlement statement. Once I asked Mr. Richter and Mr. Mitchell to document that it was our fault for the delays they stopped responding to me.

When I attempted to renegotiate or seek support, the tone shifted to pressure and threats. I was left feeling trapped and betrayed. It caused severe stress and disrupted both my personal and professional life. It took three separate attempts to find a lawyer who truly believed me and understood what was happening -- and who could prevent them from taking my house. Once proper legal scrutiny was applied, the situation was finally exposed for what it was. So we tried again in May with the original lender, that carried on to August, and then of course we were denied. This was in August and here we are in September waiting for the funds to be wired anytime now. She did such a fantastic job! The report also indicated that there are no appliances. There was no attempt to correct the appraisal or even acknowledgment regarding the blunders. As a result, my appraisal value came way too low and the builder wouldn't start the construction. So, I had to approach a different lender, run a new credit check and go through mental stress. So, please stay away from this company if you can. They may promise lower rates but what you pay is what you get. There is no customer service. The choice is yours.
