Nice location but the food isn't good. Don't order the nachos as they are the driest and most over-cooked you will ever eat. Also if you ask for more jalapeños (the entire plate of nachos only had three) they will charge you another $2.50 for three more. read more

The WORST experience ever!! We ordered a beer & hamburger as soon as we walked in. 15 minutes later, the waiter asked for clarification on what we wanted. An HOUR after that, we were ready to just pay for the beer & go. They stalled on getting our bill & eventually came out with the food. No condiments for the fries. Hamburger not prepared as ordered. Fries got cold while they did everything but get the ketchup we had to ask for. Total disorganization among the staff. No accommodation made for this disaster of an experience. Great people good food and cold beer. They do a nice job of keeping it from being overly crowded so plan ahead with a reservation.

The location: Yes, its seperated from non-smokers and smokers, but I just don't understand why the non-smokers are stuck in the basements. The pub is really set up nicely and looks very interesting with the table video screens and hanging crocodiles. The service - excellent! I didn't have to wait long and the food came within 10 or so. The burger - Outstanding! The whole burger was complete and didn't fall apart. It wasn't greasy and or overloaded. A The fries were warm and came with plenty of ketchup and a spicy chili. Really friendly staff here but unfortunately the food is just OK. I think they benefit from there being a lack of quality American and Aussie options in the immediate area and of some tourists checking out Stephensplatz being afraid to try Austrian instead of Australian. If you're looking for a great burger, this is just not your place.. they made my medium burger well-done and my fries were fat and greasy. Three words: The Crispy Queenslander. Possibly the best burger I ever had. €12 for a burger and chips may be slightly pricey but it was definitely worth it. Even the chips were amazing. Also on the menu: grilled grasshoppers, kangaroo burger and crocodile steak. I backed out of all of these options and went for the safe chicken option!! Plus, kangaroos are too cute to eat! Well i must be careful with this review as f course i am Australian, therefore my point of view is different than most other people. Atmosphere here is fantastic, especially downstairs in the restaurant. They have good burgers here, but they are no where as good as what you would get in Australia. They have a wide range of beers, but the best beers that Australia has to offer they do not have, sorry but it is true. (But that is not their fault as not all beers are exportable) The decor is questionable. It is not the way i would promote Australian culture, but i guess for the main stream public it is what they would expect. Having written all that i do actually like going there and i LOVE eating there as often as i can but most of all they find the sexiest girls from all over the world to work there. This is one of my favorite pubs to go in Vienna. The people are really nice, the atmosphere is great, and the food and the beers are awesome. As a matter of fact, it's the only place I know here that does it right, as far as serving beer in a FROZEN mug. There are a variety of items on the menu that are delicious. The burgers are huge, and the portion of fries will stuff you, guaranteed. I tried the grill kangaroo steak with grilled vegetables, and that was wonderful. I never had kangaroo before, and it sort of tastes like a filet mignon with a hint of gaminess and/or a slight liver flavor. It's a bit hard to describe here in words; you have to try it. Unlike the burger platter, the portion was perfect, and I'm glad it came with the grilled veggies instead of potatoes, which would no doubt make me overstuffed! read more

I was in Vienna for a few Days and looking for something else than fried meat and sausages. This place is a traditionnal pub, serving nachos, burgers and finger food. They offer beef burgers but also more exotic meat such as crocodile, kangaroo and others. For the most aussies or adventurous of you, you can also get to try some fried insects. They also have a large offer of australian beers. Our burgers were quite good, definitely a place I would recommend in Vienna. Apparently this joint is popular as we saw some people waiting to be seated on our way back. My only disappointment is that the restaurant is located downstairs so it is a bit dark. Also, this is absolutely in a perfect location, right in the city center of Vienna. An excellent spot after a day spent walking around in the city. read more

Great place to go if you are a non-smoker. They have the whole downstairs section saved for non-smokers, equipped with an automatic door to keep the smoke from upstairs from creeping in. Had a few drinks here after walking up and down the street in the area looking for a bar. Very friendly service and decent drinks. Opt for the doubles if you are getting a mixed drink since the singles are sort of weak in my opinion. read more

Well, for the most part, your experience will be based on your waiter here, which can either be nice, or like finger nailss across a chalk board (extremely arrogant). Non-smoker is stuck to the basement. If you want to pee, you have a lady looking at you walk in and out with a tip plate (seriously, in a restaurant). The bathroom is fairly clean. Reservation, reservation, reservation. TVs to watch, interesting menu (example, crickets can be ordered), prices are on the medium high range, beers also on the higher side. Had a burger, the great Aussie burger. It tasted wonderful. The atmosphere and waiters were nice. I was asked if i want my meat, for the burger, well done or medium rare, i was suprised. But in other pubs the waiters dont even ask so its a good point. I like the australian flair, i was a little bit sad that they didnt had some of the beer labels. This is a Great Aussie style pub which really almost method acts it's way. It has Items on the menu like locusts, No Wichity grubs tho, But a friendly professional staff and a great Ambiance. I have been to this pub maybe 4 times and I always had the feeling it is a very unfriendly pub. The staff really does not interact with the patrons. Today I paid the bill for a beer, went to the toilet before leaving and was stopped on the way out asking if I paid the bill. Of course I already did pay but to insult a patron for a bill of 3.20€ when in fact it was paid will cause me never to go there again. Das Crossfield's hat es trotz guter Lage lange geschafft sich vor mir zu drücken. Vorige Woche war's dann aber endlich soweit und ich konnte mir das Australian Pub genauer ansehen. Geteilt in 2 Bereiche (oben reines Pub, unten mehr Restaurant) bietet es eine riesige Fläche und viele Sitzplätze, die vor allem zur Kernzeit ausreserviert sein dürften. Immer wieder strömen neue Leute in das Lokal und das Geschäft scheint ordentlich zu gehen. Um australischen Flair zu erzeugen, sind natürlich die gewohnten Deko-Artikel dabei und untermalt wird das von vielen Flat-Screens, welche Cricket, Football und Co. zeigen. Man fühlt sich sehr heimisch und alles wirkt stimmig. Die Speisekarte ist von der Auswahl her perfekt geschrieben - nicht zu viel und nicht zu wenig. Die typischen Burger (Farmer's Bacon Burger, Hamburger & Cheeseburger) werden unter anderem durch Kangaroo- oder Lamm-Burger ergänzt, außerdem findet man gegrillte Heuschrecken, Fish'n'Chips und etliche Veggie-Gerichte vor. Auch Crocodile-Steak, Lamb Loin oder die sogenannte Adventurer Plate (mit Heuschrecken, Krokodil und Co.) finden Einzug. Das passt! Auch bei den Biersorten wird nicht gespart: Vom österreichischen X-Field (gebraut von Ottakringer), über deutsche Biere bis zum australischen Foster's findet hier jeder was. Abgerundet wird die Getränkekarte durch die bekannten Non-Alcoholics und diverse Longdrinks bzw. Schnäpse. Qualitativ muss sich das Essen absolut nicht verstecken. Selbst probiert habe ich den Farmer's Bacon Burger (Rindfleisch, Speck, Salat, Paradeiser, Zwiebel, Gurken und Käse) und der hat ordentlich gemundet. Das Fleisch ist einmalig und die Pommes dazu perfekt cross - gerne wieder. Auch die anderen Speisen sahen allesamt sehr gut aus. Vielleicht werde ich mich zukünftig über Känguruh oder Krokodil trauen, das weiß aber noch nicht. Klingt bisher alles toll, aber weshalb dann nur 3 Sterne? Leider wegen der Bedienung. Der Service kann ein Lokal bereichern oder es auch den Bach hinunter führen. Damit es authentisch wirkt, sprechen alle Englisch (und es werden offensichtlich auch nur Native-Speaker eingestellt) und sind erkennbar gekleidet. Allerdings wirken sie heillos überfordert. Wenn man wegen einer Getränkebestellung 3x nachfragen muss, während alle anderen ihre schon erhalten haben und einem dann ein "Sorry, Dude!" entgegenfliegt, ist das mühsam. Dass man sich dann bei der Rechnung noch um € 10,- verrechnet kann passieren, ist aber auch nicht ideal. Außerdem läuft gewaltig viel Personal herum, das die Tische abräumt - ob man vielleicht noch etwas bestellen will, interessiert hier keinen. Stattdessen sieht man den "Supervisor" immer wieder hin- und hersprinten, während er auf obercoole Art und Weise die Leute unfreundlich anspricht. Ein Beispiel? Gerne! 5 junge Leute betreten das Restaurant, rennen ein wenig orientierungslos herum und er spricht sie direkt mit einem "Guys, how many are you!?" an. Als die offensichtlich nicht englisch-erprobte Gruppe fragend schaut, kommt auch schon ein patziges "'HOW MANY. One, two, three? Did you join maths at school?" Das wirkt schon unangenehm, wenn es neben einem passiert, muss aber natürlich noch schlimmer sein, wenn es einem selbst widerfährt. Natürlich kann die Arbeit stressig sein, aber als Service-Personal oder gar Supervisor sollte man darauf bedacht sein, freundlich und helfend zu agieren. Ich werde dem Crossfield's allerdings definitiv noch eine Chance geben, alleine wegen der tollen Karte und der gebotenen Qualitiät. Vielleicht hat der Service einfach einen schlechten Tag erwischt! Ausprobieren sollte man das Australian Pub auf jeden Fall. Und hey - it's down under in the heart of the city. read more
