Totally justified all the mac and cheese and wings I ate later... PROS For $25 (it was $20 earlier than the week of) we got 2 hours of nonstop dance workout classes. We tried 8 different types of dance including hip hop, ballet, jazz, modern, zumba, and banghra blast! We were greeted with a nice spread of healthy snacks-fruit, hummus, bruschetta, etc. and a coat rack for our things (there are also lockers further in). All the instructors were awesome, music was upbeat, and classes were fun! CONS The room was PACKED. They rotated rows every few songs, but I was seriously afraid of being punched/kicked in the face for most of the hip hop routine. The last session-powerjam stretch- involved a lot of being on the floor, which was really hard and there were not mats. It was hard to keep up with some of the instructors, and I know they tailored this to beginners, so I can only imagine (fear) what the regular class is like! Definitely recommend attending similar events like this and checking this studio out.

I attended Philly Dance Fitness for their Beyonce Twerkshop held in April. Make sure you bring water and comfortable clothing because you will move and you will sweat! I will say that I've honestly never had so much fun in a dance class, especially one where I didn't know what the hell I was doing 35% of the time. PDF really encourages a no pressure keep going type atmosphere which I think will make even a novice feel comfortable. The session was high energy and little to no breaks so it was essentially a full 1.5 hr workout. 3 different instructors participated in this workshop going through different routines. As most instructors have different teaching styles, some would go through the moves whereas others did a type of "crash and burn" style where everyone just went for it. Also, because this was a Beyonce twerkshop, popular Bey routines (i.e Single Ladies, Partition) were also incorporated into the class. For the boring stuff: class was $25, completely worth it to me (especially for 1.5hrs) but may still be expensive for some. Class was COMPLETELY overcrowded which may also be bothersome for some but wasn't really a huge deal for me. They did rotate rows so anyone who desired to be be in the front got equal opportunity to do so. They may want to look into offering several time options for a particular workshop so it doesn't get so overly crowded. As mentioned before, it's very high paced. You're probably better off if you've had some type of previous dance training or catch onto routines quickly but once again, no big deal. Mess up? Just keep dancing. I'm not sure how other classes with PDF are but if you're into reppin for the '99 and 2000 with booty shakin' hits such as Juvenile's "Back that ass up", Ludacris' "How Low", the 2005 hit, "Ms. New Booty" and other anthems to get you moving a twerkshop should definitely be in your near future. Kudos to the attendees that really showed their skills Diplo-esque and all of what else went on that day (if you wanna know go and see!). The dance tracklist was awesome for whoever came up with that as well. Totally an open and creative atmosphere that's not for the faint of heart.

Best CrossFit gym in Philadelphia. From the coaches to the…read moreprogramming to the equipment, everything is of the highest quality. Moreover, even if the class is full they make sure to touch base with everyone and coach them, which really helps improving! In addition, the community is inclusive and welcoming, and will make you feel welcome whether it is your 1st or 100th workout.

But the good kind of sore? I took Emily's 7:30 am boot camp class and while the playlist was straight fire, my thighs were also on fire. We were a small group, so we were able to all get personal attention on form. Emily had laid out what we were going to do and made use of the timers, so I didn't have to count down the seconds myself. We used lots of different equipment (kettlebells, weights, jump ropes, ergs) and it made the 45 minutes go by a lot faster than I usually find at these types of classes. The space is huge, literally an open box, with lots of equipment. It seems some people just stop by and use the equipment, and they also have classes. 10 packs come out to $14 a class and 20 packs $12. They also have a 21 days for $49 pack for new members (which is a great deal) and other student and military discounts. 3x a week is $90 and (this is how they get you at the Movie theater with popcorn sizes) for only an extra $15 you can get unlimited (with 6 month commitment). For a bit extra you can get all access passes. But before you box Open Box into the Crossfit box, check out the upstairs yoga studio! Unlike many gyms where the yoga class is in the same room and its very difficult to feel zen, the yoga studio here is set off, sound proofed, painted a calming color, and has great manduka mats and blocks. I did a private workshop with Emily here and my friends and I had such a good time, she's great at teaching inversions and super encouraging! Open up your mind (and wallet) to Open Box, and you may just open up your heart to them, along with, probably, your hips.

Hello, I have been a member of this gym for over 20 years…read more Many times, I have told people EVERYWHERE that this is the best gym in the world because of it's variety and amount of equipment and space. I have left reviews on the internet to this effect. I would like to continue this sentiment, but I just cannot anymore. I recently took a long break from the gym after renewing my membership (I think in September or November of 2025). The main reason is the music played on the PA system. It is HORRIBLE and WAY TOO LOUD. It is like a bad nightclub with crappy inappropriate music that serves more to distract and drain energy. It is so loud that I can't even bring headphones and enjoy my own music without turning them up so loud I nearly go deaf to drown out the terribly loud crap music in this gym. Not everyone that works out in a gym wants nightclub type "thump thump" or crappy pop music. SOME PEOPLE WANT NO MUSIC AT ALL SO THEY CAN CONCENTRATE AND BE IN THEIR OWN THOUGHTS. It also causes people's conversations to be overly loud and obnoxious. The TYPE of music in this gym is disgusting and in poor taste. The volume is so bad that people wearing headphones complain that it is too loud. I have seen people who graduate from ear buds to noise resistant "can" type headphones in this gym just to drown out the music in this gym. I have voiced my distaste and annoyance about this to the staff and owners many times and I seem to be disregarded, which I find HIGHLY DISRESPECTFUL for someone who has been paying for year-long memberships for over 20 years. I have become so desperate I even offered to pay for the Sirius XM membership if you would just shut it off and you laughed at me WHEN I WAS DEADLY SERIOUS. This is how bad it is. Not a single person there wants to hear this music and especially at this volume. IF I WANTED A NIGHT CLUB, I WOULD GO TO A NIGHT CLUB. IF I WANTED AEROBICS MUSIC FOR A DANCE CLASS I WOULD GO TO AN AEROBICS DANCE CLASS. I COME TO THIS GYM TO LIFT WEIGHTS/WORKOUT, NOT DANCE AROUND LIKE AN IDIOT! It just tells me that you don't care about your customers/members and disregard anything they desire. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, READ THE DAMNED ROOM! EVERYONE IN THAT GYM IS WEARING HEADPHONES. EVEN THE CLEANING CREW WEARS HEADPHONES! READ THE ROOM! TURN OFF THE DAMNED MUSIC! Clearly this is impossible for you to understand and don't care. I live next door to this gym, but I will seriously pay more or walk many blocks to go to a gym that listens to their customers and doesn't force feed them crappy clubby teenage shit-pop music when everyone is wearing headphones trying to avoid it. READ THE DAMNED ROOM!!!

Don't…read moreget me wrong, they've got equipment to spare, but no towels, no soap or shampoo in the showers, no overnight lockers available, one water fountain (serving 4 floors), and they choose to clean the toilet/shower area during business hours without any announcement, just hanging a sign that says closed for cleaning. I walked in, changed my shirt, and I gave my notice to cancel my membership. The woman tramping around cleaning when I wanted to take my shower and dress was the last straw. I will have to rearrange things a bit in my apartment (it will be tight), but I will have a 15 second trip to the "gym", will be able to listen to my choice of music out loud, will have plenty of fresh water right at hand, and will enjoy a leisurely, private shower afterwards. If home exercise doesn't work out, there's a Planet Fitness not far away. I can't imagine it being lower-grade than this place, and it costs half as much to be a member.

In person, on site, without any sort of friction. What followed has been nothing short of a nightmare, Despite having fulfilled every obligation on my end, City Fitness proceeded to fabricate a debt and relentlessly pursued me for payment -- including reporting me to credit bureaus for money I simply do not owe. This has had real consequences on my financial standing, and I find it completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, I received a direct email from their collections agency offering to "go away" if I paid a specific amount. That is not how legitimate debt collection works - that is coercion. If anything, it confirmed that this debt was never valid to begin with. For context, I ended my membership because the facility had no air conditioning and no cold water -- in the middle of summer!!! Basic amenities that are non-negotiable for any gym, let alone one marketing itself as a "premium" experience. City Fitness talks about building community and clean facilities. My experience tells a very different story. I would strongly caution anyone considering membership here to document every interaction, keep every receipt, and get every cancellation confirmation in writing. I am not the only person I know with similar issues!
