Yes , I had heard the CrossFit horror stories but was willing to give it a try. I started at a different gym and they were awesome and helped me to get going. That gym closed 2 years ago and I and many of the other members of our CrossFit family found Crossfit Full Bore South. This is such a great place! My crossfit family has grown with the coaches and members. This is such a great place. The coaches are amazing, they work with you, they never judge you if you can't do all of the moves in a workout. They work with you to help you do the best you can within your abilities. The goal is to be healthy and improve your life, not get injured and no longer be able to workout. I work out with men and women of all ages, (I could be the Mother of most of them)and there is never any competition to be better than you. Everyone supports each other. I do my best to go to CrossFit 4 times a week. The workouts are tough and there are times I think I just can't make it, but a put a goal in front of me and charge forward. It feels great when I complete my workout. Never doubt yourself, Crossfit is an attainable goal and the coaches, owners and members of #crossfitfullboresouth are the greatest. Thank you all.

I'd done and rather enjoyed hot yoga, so I was intrigued by workouts that were all done in a sauna. I called and arranged a tour with the gym manager and was sold. It was small, had individual rooms, was open 24 hours, and the workouts were total body. Sign me up! Membership is a little more than $60/month, but you can take as many classes as you want at any time that you want. The start up cost is a little bit more as you have to purchase their special mat and towel due to the sauna temperatures. The classes are virtual, so you just follow along with a video instructor, but they're easy to keep up with while still providing a challenging workout. I also love that in addition to the sauna workouts there's a selection of free weights, ropes, and a few other pieces of equipment. On days were I just don't have it in me to do a class, I can do a quick circuit. I've never had any issues, can always find a class at the time I need, and the staff are friendly and helpful whenever I've had any questions. So glad I decided to try something new and join!

They have a very advanced online/phone app that allows you to keep track of your workout, sign up for classes, see what the workout of the day is. Best of the 3 cross fits in the city. They don't require an on-ramp which is good and bad. On ramp is kind of boring and anti-climactic but some could argue necessary. I did on ramp at big easy because it was cheaper than cross fit nola and I wasn't sure if I was going to stick with it. I learned a lot about cross fit, positioning, moves, etc but wish it was just 2 or 3 classes instead. I also realized that maybe cross fit wasn't for me. The owner of this gym is very informative and helpful and obviously seems to care about the people who join (and don't join). I would recommend this place to anyone. For the first 100 people it's only $99 a month for unlimited classes. Unlike the other places, it's 45 minutes per class vs 1 hour, which isn't necessarily a bad thing and again you get unlimited classes. they have also started an endurance class mondays and wenesdays (thinking long distance running and rowing). not sure cross fit is for me (not really into the whole weightlifting tons of weight thing) but if i do decide to do it in the future will probably join here. he also has an option of 10 classes for $80. also a phenomenal deal considering other cross fits are about 20 per class.

Here at Supra the Coaches are great and encouraging, however behind the scenes the owner cuts expenses and fails to provide needed equipment at the request of his members. He also didn't include the CrossFit open into the schedule despite interest from members. Fortunately the Coaches came through and made it happen for their people. The normal warmth of the community that includes the interaction between management and members, after hours functions like BBQ's is sadly missing from this box. There are any number of better CrossFit gyms in the area like CrossFit Big Easy, CrossFit NOLA or CrossFit Crescent City Gretna.

The lazy river is artfully done, giving a nod to Louisiana wildlife and nature areas. There are a lot of skillful and friendly lifeguards around the area. There are several different food pavilions, restrooms, locker areas, and areas to sit. There is also a fun water slide, giving homage to the infamous alligators with albinism who have taken residence at the Zoo and Aquarium over the years. This would be a fun place to relax with your kids during one of the summer sessions. My friends and I attending the adults-only Sip and Dip event held on Fridays during the summer. It was very affordable for a private cabana for six with early access. Be sure to reserve your tickets for the event early online as it does sell out. It got a bit crowded toward the end, and they did run out of regular floats, though some preferred the thick floating noodles offered. Every Friday night has a different theme, so there is something for everyone. They bring in Dickie Brennans for the bar, and they were wonderful with decently priced drinks and quality alcohol. They were also creating with the mocktails. I certainly will return for another Sip and Dip either later this summer, if able, or next year. Absolutely worth it!

My first time at Cool Zoo was for the adults-only Friday night party, Sip & Dip. This event is 2X a month during the heart of the summer and features theme nights with DJs and of course since this is NOLA, people get creative and might dress in theme. I went on 80s night and the music was so fun and I loved people wearing neon, 80s tshirts and even hair and make-up. Refreshments stands are spread out among the park and they do a themed cocktail and sell beer, hard seltzer and soft drinks, along with typical concession food and popcorn. I had the cocktail of the evening, the Purple Rain and while it was eye-catching, it was so sweet and possibly strong, too, that I couldn't drink more than 1/4 of it (and it's a huge cup, fairly priced at only $13). The grounds are beautiful with fountains and an area with slides and water features that you'd normally see children dominating (with perfectly good reason) but it was actually fun to see adults having at it on the slides and at the water sprayers. Then there's the lazy river, which is a decent size, warm and full of jets to move you along. We ended up not using flotation devices and swam/walked through it. My main issue and why this event isn't personally my cup of tea: it's too crowded. It sells out but I think they sell far too many tickets. We arrived 15 min after it started and there wasn't a lounge chair nor seat at a table to be found. Cabanas are so cheap here but they sell out immediately ahead of the event, likely the day that tickets go on sale. The only way I'd return was if I could get a cabana. The lazy river is completely packed 45 minutes into the event. We were lucky enough to get a locker (which also sell out so imagine being there without a space to put your things??? how is that fun?). People are in general nice enough to hand over the inner tubes but good luck ever getting a place to sit if you didn't line up in advance of start time. I keep going back between 3 and 4 stars for the main reason that everyone who works here is SO nice. The staff really made everything bearable for me, as they were so welcoming and helpful to point out where the lockers were (there's another set behind the set you initially encounter). I just think this isn't the event for anyone who avoids crowds of people. And the crowd that was there that night were totally fine (at least early in the evening). They just sell too many tickets for me to enjoy it.

From the second you walk in, it feels like old-school charm meets modern-day motivation. The building itself is gorgeous -- think chandeliers, brick walls, and history dripping from every dumbbell. The weight room? Massive. The cardio section? Plenty of options. The pool? Stunning and feels like something Gatsby would've done laps in. And don't even get me started on the boxing ring -- I half-expected to see Rocky training in the corner. There's even a Turkish bath. Yes, a Turkish bath -- where else are you gonna find that? The people were super friendly, and there was this kind of unspoken camaraderie in the air -- everyone's working hard but also vibing with the beauty of the space. This little patch of land sits along the Mississippi River and the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal, better known as the Industrial Canal. This area offers up excellent views of the City of New Orleans and some front row seats to the river boats passing by. Area has been pup friendly but due to its quite yet semi sketchy nature a leash is recommended. There are a few abandoned buildings nearby complete with mattresses, broken glass, and plenty of drug paraphernalia. Watch your step. Near the end of the land it drops down beyond the levee the a naturally made sandy area I hesitate to call a beach. You can usually find some campers set up in this area but typically they keep to themselves. Overall this little hidden gem is a decent little retreat without going outside the city. Feel free to bring a folding chair, blanket, and some suds for some r&r.

I was impressed how engaging the staff was with the kids (especially because most of them are young). The gym seems organized and it was clean.

I have loved getting to know this beautiful breed and look forward to continuing my journey as a rider. The horses receive exceptional care, and it shows. Everyone at the barn is welcoming, helpful, and genuinely invested in creating a positive experience for both horses and riders. I've also enjoyed the trail rides. The horses are calm and dependable, and riding through the park is peaceful and beautiful. Whether you're new to horses or returning to riding later in life as I did, Cascade is a wonderful place to learn, grow, and be part of a supportive equestrian community. I highly recommend it. Barbe Smith has a huge heart and does a lot for the community. Her son and daughter in law are professional trainers and are excellent to learn from. He was impatient and seemed like he didn't want to be there. If you don't have any experience riding horses, this is not the place for you. (You can check one of two boxes for any experience from riding 0-10 times or more than 10 times.) The horse, Oreo, only wanted to eat grass, and I struggled as soon as we got to the park. We were told both horses were calm. The guide barked instruction from the front of the other rider instead of coming over to explain. He just kept telling me to kick the horse harder and pull the reins harder. I would pull the reins up and the horse would immediately put his head back down to eat grass. I tried multiple times to get him away from the grassy area. I was afraid and felt unstable, so I grabbed the saddle and the guide fussed at me for grabbing the saddle. He repeated the same instructions over again, which weren't working, and eventually came over to me. I ended up being terrified on top of the horse. So, the guide called someone to come out and help. I didn't feel safe at that point and just asked to get down. I ended up walking back and will never get on another horse after this experience. There's no refunds. It was a total waste of time. The other workers didn't seem to believe me when I complained about the guide (big guy named Lane, I think) until the one other rider explained how disengaged the guide acted. My friend has done a bunch of trail rides and never experienced such bad service. Save your money and go do something else. This stable doesn't care about its riders.
