I always look forward to making the yearly trek back down to Winston-Salem (usually near the…read moreholiday season) to visit the folks and connect with old friends. However, finding a consistent/quality gym to workout was difficult... until I found Top Tier Crossfit. This place is located conveniently in Downtown Winston (off Liberty and 6th) and parking is ample. Don't worry, if the parking lot does get filled up, there's one hour street parking, which is plenty of time for a quick workout. I arrived on the Dec 26th, right after Christmas, and was itching for my olympic lifting program to start up again. When I stepped through the door, the coach that was teaching the class stopped and welcomed me to the gym. I thought that was pretty cool and kind. Anyways I told him that I was going to do my own programming since I'm following my gym's (in DC) program that focuses on Olympic Lifting. He said it was alright and let me workout for FREE!! Going to the important stuff: The Equipment! +Olympic Weightlifting platform - YASSS, this place has Eleiko kilo plates (4 of each colored plates) and 3 Eleiko bars! The change plates were also by Eleiko and were definitely sexy. If you want to do rack jerks, they have these loud rack stands (protected by Ken and Barbie). -Bars - Decent bars, couldn't tell if they were Rogue or Pendlays +Rings - Wooden rings, so they feel amazing, no plastic for this gym! +Kettlebells - There was a 10x8 ft shelf that had a rainbow of kettlebells. A big American flag is chilling right above them. +Rigs - There are two rigs, the bottom floor rig can accommodate up to 16 people doing basic stuff (squats, pull ups, muscle ups, etc etc). The upstairs rig (yes I said it, THERE ARE 2 FLOORS) is mainly a square rig, not sure what additional use it has but its cool. +Rope climb - The height of the bottom floor is 12 feet, so the rope climb is about 10 feet, pretty short but it gets the job done. Concluding, I'd definitely go back to this gym. Clean facility, Great people, Good Vibes. A+ Tip: Be sure to check out the upstairs. It's usually reserved for bootcamp and personal training but I thought it was pretty cool. It's super roomy, carpeted, and full of fun equipment.

I wish it were easier to explain my frustration with this company…read more Through first encounters, lack of availability, and inability to return any sort of email - I truly feel they do not have the customer support and care they'll need to stay in business in the long run. No one communicates. No one responds to emails or phone calls - and if you go there in person - good luck finding someone available.

This review is for the STX free boot camp that they have every Monday and Wednesday:…read more I wasn't ready. Mentally or physically for what went down Wednesday night. I'll try to keep it short. (Yeah right! Lol) Overall- such a GREAT workout, experience and Emily breeze is so awesome!!! The only thing that kept me from quitting..well two things kept me from quitting. Knowing that summer is coming and my booty isn't where it needs to be and sheer will power to just keep going. I almost quit. Like literally said to myself "I can't do this...I so can't do this". And I heard the small inner former athlete say "yes.you.can" so I took another step...one more push up...one more lunge...one more squat. It's a brutal workout. I think we did (well I did because I couldn't do them all) at least 200 squats. I'm sure others did more. I think about 50 or more (I dunno I think I blacked out after a while) push ups, so many sprints, a bear crawl, back pedals, omg...my body was quivering. My mental state was shot....until something clicked and I remembered "yes I can". Sure I didn't do 20 squats at each cone, but I tried to do 15. I just kept moving. Never standing and never cheating myself out of the movement. I push well past my comfort zone. Along with about 200 people. It's a good mix of fitness levels and a great sense of community. I met some great people. Strangers were encouraging each other. The group clapped for those who were coming in last to encourage them. Amazing. By the time we got to the burpee plank series I was spent. I'm glad that was last. The ONLY reason why I'm kicking off a star is because at the end a big muscle guy kick my foot while I was in a modified plank hold (my knees were on the ground and I would alternate left and then right knee) and said "is that your plank?" I said "yes. You don't know my story. You try having stomach surgery" and he walked off. What I SHOULD have said was "is that your face? Oh it is? Then yes. This is my plank" That made me mad and confirmed why I don't xfit. I was judged by my plank and he kicked my foot. So for that, I kick off a star. At least my plank will get better...your face?? *shrugs shoulders* I'm going to go back. I am so happy that I didn't quit. It's challenging and it will help push me past my level of comfort!!!

When I saw that it was co-led by THE Randy Moss, I knew we had to go, being a huge Patriots fan. Since we have been traveling around the US, we have really only been running and getting SOME body weight work in. This class whooped our asses haha! For a class size of about 200 people, it was very well organized! Everyone got a great workout, I felt like I could go ROUGHLY at my own pace, and everyone was very encouraging. I'd like to say that it is an all-levels class, but it really isn't. You would probably be better off with some athletic background or at least average/above average fitness level to keep up. I would be back if I am in the area again! Feel free to follow our travels at www.tandaintheusofa.com! One thing to note, is they do charge $5 to park in their lot, which we did not know. We did see many other people parking on the street perpendicularly across the street.

Do wish they had a pool but the sauna is option is nice. I think they offer childcare as well. And as their membership grows, looks like they'll hosting more events which is a big draw for me. I did the 21 day free trial and was extremely close to signing up fully, but I have a gym in my complex with similar equipment. However, places like O2 (Lifetime, Equinox etc) are much more than a gym, they are an ~experience~ I don't think most people go solely to work out or train, they go for the elevated service/treatment, community, motivation from/of being around others etc. And you definitely get that here at O2. Pricewise is what you would expect from a facility of this caliber, but their prepaid packages do get you some decent savings. The operations staff is nice and friendly - sales people can be a bit aggressive but that's to be expected. Overall, I'd recommend this as a first choice to anyone who does not have a home gym or something readily available in their complex. Can't beat the location either - perfect for working out and running errands before or after.
