Cleanest gym in town. So much room! So much equipment! I definitely highly recommend Plaza Fitness.read more

I love plaza but do wish the rules were a bit more logical/reasonable…read more I see people doing heavy squats (up to 400+) all the time on the power rack without any type of safety stop or even a spotter. This is exactly how bodybuilder Justin Vicky died just last week squating 460lb (spurring me to write this). On the other hand, Plaza doubled the number of "Don't drop the dumbbells" signs a few months ago. Soon after that I saw a guy get chewed out for lowering some big dumbbells to the floor after a heavy flat press. He didn't drop them or even let them escape his hands, he just lowered them as slow as he could after doing flat presses, but it made a thud noise and that counted as dropping. So now anytime someone flat presses heavy dumbbells they've got to catch them on their knees while also catching their forward momentum before their head goes through the mirror in front of them? That's fine as long as you don't let the 100 to 150 dumbbells touch the floor and make a thud. Also, good luck if you have a shoulder problem because you'll be loosing your membership if you bail out of any kind of dumbbell press. In the mean time, don't worry about the other guy on the opposite side of the room deadlifting 405 and letting the weight free-fall from waste high to the ground with every rep. I love all the people, the atmosphere, and the equipment at Plaza. That's why it's got my 4 stars. But I've got to reserve the last star for when the rules become a little more focused on safety of the people and equipment. Honestly though, I couldn't care less about seeing additional rules added to the squat and deadlift area. I'd be fine to see natural selection and liability waivers in the membership contract work that issue out naturally. However, when the rules and the way they're enforced with the dumbbells don't allow them to be used as intended and in the safest manner (or even unsafely), that's not good for anybody.

This is an amazing gym... and I don't use that word lightly. I was planning on moving to Billings…read morebefore my company had other plans for me, but I did have the privilege of working out here while I was in Billings. The place is so clean, so spacious, so well-equipped. The clientele are all polite and clean and keep to themselves. The staff could not be nicer. The locker rooms are so large and clean. The pool has perfect chemistry. Towel service is done right. I'm so disappointed I didn't get to move to Billings- not least because I can't work out here. I would definitely recommend this gym, and I would hope other gyms would use them as an example of how to run a very high-quality gym.

Granite has serious culture problems from the Managment and owner. There's this strange dynamic…read morewhere most of the employees seem to be instructed to tell customers "I don't know" and point them to directly contact management via email. Which is cumbersome and a waste of everyone's time honestly. Then ultimately management will just brush you off, and give you non answers. Whilst also they like to give a sort of PC droid responses, as if they think they are speaking on CNN about politics. It's annoying because you're just a a paying human customer at the gym, and you just want another human to hear you and respond to you. But they won't. They waste your time and give you the run around about 10 different ways. Which makes you more frustrated in the end. The childcare is not licensed. Therefore they also don't have any accountability if you spot any problems. And the management will give you the runaround yet again if you just try to cordially speak with them about any problems. And when it comes to the care and protection of children... you would think any facility would 100% just want to do the right thing, and abide by the licensing regulations to protect children, which is also coming from the current AAP standards for childcare. Frequent issues with wildly inappropriate clothing, in what's supposed to be a "family gym" environment. I was uncomfortable with 3 teenage girls wearing thongs and g string bikinis in the pool area, and I just got non answers from the front desk again. And referred to management yet again. And management and the owner actually think that allowing underage girls to wear g strings in public, is somehow some kind of personal freedom choice that they "can't do anything about". But the basic laws about public decency in our city would say otherwise. The free weight areas needs a bit more guidance and regulating from the staff of the gym. There's pretty much always some goons taking up vital working space there, doing non free weight things. It's just kind of a free for all of people doing whatever they want, anywhere in the gym. And the manager and owner seem to think that that's just fine. It's very much like a low level budget gym vibe, like Gold's, or planet fitness, where very unserious people are doing weird things right up in the tiny free weight space, stopping you from appropriately using the free weight space as intended. Except here, you easily are spending over $100 a month for this low class vibe. The gym has the capacity overall to become something great. They have the space, and the equipment. But bad Managment and even worse ownership, with an elitist attitude that never seeks to serve the paying customer... it just really ruins everything the gym could have been. If they got better management that actually wanted to help people, and taught employees to actually do something and know something, and if they licensed the childcare and made a better effort there, and actually policed the spaces like the pool area and the free weights, so areas were used appropriately... then there could be great and massive enjoyment for all paying customers! But right now it's just a mess. An expensive mess.

I love coming here. All the right equipment and super friendly staff, especially the owner!…read more I can't give 5-stars because they're not handicapped friendly. We brought my dad here to walk in the pool to strengthen his legs and while walking in the door he tripped and fell, knocking my mom down him, on the runner inside of door! The runner is not industrial, it's more like a runner you'd buy at Wayfair for your hallway at home. No elevators to help him get to second level to work on bikes. My last complaint is the customer service at front desk, two of the gals (Blond) are like dead fish! I just shake my head because well... it's not my business! I am most certainly NOT a woman to go online and spend my lunch break writing a negative review but…read moreat this point I feel as though I am doing others a disservice if I don't speak on my experience here. My first time here I was told that I had to meet with one of the "trainers" it was something that everyone new at the gym had to do. Turns out you don't and I was being incredibly naive. The woman told me I was overweight and I was standing at 5'9 and 159lbs at the time. She told me I had too high of a fat mass and to cut my caloric intake to 1600-1800 cal maintaining 130g of protein. Which is all reasonable had she asked me if my goal was to lose weight but it wasn't. A year later Ive lost body fat and gained 17lbs in muscle while maintaining a weight that fluctuates between 158-164. I don't count my calories but aim for lower carb and protein at 160g daily. I spent 5 days a week at this gym in the mornings. I knew my year was coming up and I couldn't keep up with the costs any longer. I spoke with will and agreed to pay the final amount nearly $200 in hopes I could avoid collections even though I haven't stepped into the gym in over two months. Turns out that's not enough for them. You can't cancel verbally or in person you have to send an email but they won't tell you that and then expect you to pay another $70+ for a gym you dont even have access too and make you feel scummy for not agreeing with their 30 day notice. Will and Cole were lovely and accommodating however I am in tears I am so disappointed by this. Attached below is my charges on the bank statements and a progress photo to show that this trainer that took one online class is feeding women's body issues and shouldn't be in the position she is in. I can't even fathom what she says to those that are truly overweight. Proceed with caution folks!
