Happened upon it. We drove by and decided to stop and take a quick look. There was a small fee . But also had bathrooms and it was worth a look. I actually find ruins more interesting than castles. It didnt take long to see the whole thing and part was blocked off for restoration. read more

Crossraguel Abbey is an impressive looking abbey as you drive up toward its. Its is fairly inexpensive to enter £3.70 for adults. The abbey is reasonably complete compared to other abbeys and there are plenty of notices around the abbey giving information about the different rooms. Its possible to climb up to the top of the gate house and the view from the top is very nice. There is a small gift shop selling little items, as well as drinks. The staff were happy to answer any questions about the abbey. Definitely recommended for anyone who likes ruins or castles. read more

Hidden Gem! Very large pretty Abbey, on your way to Turnberry and Whisky Experience. Large rooms, nice cloisters. Good grounds and nice staff work there too! Climb the gate house for views. Cows are fun to watch there too. Part of Historic Scotland. I got the pass for the year. read more

We chose to visit as this site is connected to my family history. Our local driver was not optimistic about seeing much. We were all pleasantly surprised when we met Jean, a local caretaker and representative of Historic Scotland. She took time to show us around, share historical facts, and then let us look around on our own. Jean then looked at other sites we planned to visit and helped plan the most reasonable route. She helped gain access to a nearby church and cemetery when we found ancestors from the 1600s. The Abbey was easy to move around. There were signs indicating the various structures and uses of the spaces. Much if the ornate detail is intact. We bought a souvenir guide book to add to our knowledge. Thank you Jean and Historic Scotland for making this a wonderful experience. read more
