I grew up going to church, but for whatever reason I felt like something was missing in my life, in my relationship with God. It was at this church were I really learned that being a Christian isn't about being a "good person" or obeying rules. It's about a relationship with God. The messages are relevant and real. The music is modern. But the best part is the people. Most of them are the most genuine, friendly, and down to earth people you will ever meet. After 15 years I still go to this church. I met most of my closest friends here. I met my wife here. It's really a great church. Come and see for yourself.

At my suggestion, Gayle and I attended Christmas Eve Mass at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. It's only…read morea short drive from my parent's house. But first, our family enjoyed a secular tradition of taking a walk around the neighbourhood to view the holiday lights and sharing a chili supper together. The service was actually at 6:30, as a Midnight Mass is way past our bedtime. When we arrived the sanctuary, it was already full as folks came early to sing Christmas carols. Although I'm not a Christian, I enjoyed the pageantry, community energy, and the welcoming congregation at this very special time of year. Especially memorable was the excellent vocal soloists and accompanying violin, guitar, and bell choir, a heartfelt homily contrasting Susan Boyle and Jesus, festive holiday decorations throughout the sanctuary, and of course the magical advent of snow as we left the church and carefully headed home on this peaceful Christmas Eve.
