One of the reasons I liked it was because of the variety of people and the crops you can get. They have real baby carrots and peppers and such. As for baked goods and food, there are some great international options and fresh deli foods, but nothing stuck out and so I didn't get to try anything. I did come across avocados at 5 for $1 and some yummy cherries. read more

It is hit and miss but the have some great vendors. I am a fan of Chongos for fresh produce and juice. The Turkish and Mexican food is awesome. Otherwise it depends on what your into. The flea market area is tacky, but one can avoid it easily enough. read more

An interesting and sometimes fun place to go. SUnday afternoons are beyond crowded, stay away. There are still SOME flea market tables, bu these are becoming scarcer and the prices have gone up significantly in the last few years. You can STILL perhaps find that weird old thing but it will probably COST you now. There are for sure more than a few decent and / or uncommon food vendors at crossroads. The Turkish food kiosk is particularly good, and I can say I have NEVER seen a Turkish food thing at the regular mall hhahah! All in all an interesting and fun time, just costs a bit more than it used to :) OH YEAH, you CAN haggle with the vendors here, successfully too, if youre cool about it and dont fork out insulting lo-balls. There is a younger asian dude there who I buy sunglasses from like every 2 weeks. He acknowledges me as a regular and I get a permanent discount so thats cool. If your looking for anything and I mean anything, Crossroads Market will have it for you!! This place is an indoor flea market...with some of the best food at its cafeteria...summer months its a zoo but there is something for everyone really. My favorite part about the Crossroads Market is that its the home to Chongos Produce Market and Say Cheese Fromagerie. I was definitely let down by this place. I was expecting something similar to Edmonton's Farmers Market. However, this place is definitely more of a flee market which is fine, but what upset me is the "fresh produce" included pineapples, mangos etc. This is CANADA in the middle of March we can't grow that stuff in the summer let alone the winter. I was looking for locally grown stuff and definitely didn't find any. There was lots of fast food stands and processed food which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid when I go to markets. Most of the items for sale looked like they came from a garage sale, which again I don't mind but this stuff seemed pretty over priced for the junk you get. I'm moving to Calgary this summer and I won't be back to this market... I just hope the other markets in Calgary are better read more

A long time shopper of the Kingsland market, for their certified organic, herbicide and pesticide free produce, I had heard good things about the crossroads market and their massive produce section and decided I'd go and check it out for myself. I wandered from vendor to vendor asking if their vegetables and fruits were pesticide and herbicide free and not a single one of them said yes. IN fact, ONE of the vendors even told me that I would "be hard pressed to find any organic fruits and vegetables at that market" as the Crossroads was more interested in marketing for "price point" than providing organic foods. This vendor also warned me that "some" of the vendors would try to tell me their food was pest/herbicide free, but to take that with a grain of salt. The only "inkling" of "organic" I got was from a couple of Hutterite stalls who said that their produce was guaranteed 99.5% organic....so my question is...what is the other 0.5%? I like to buy my eggs from the Kingsland market as organic/grain fed farm fresh eggs are easy to spot for their dark yolks. So I decided I'd give the Crossroads market eggs a chance as I didn't want to go home empty handed. I went to Wal-Mart and purchased a carton of Wal-Mart brand no name eggs as well after purchasing eggs from the market (just to compare)....Upon cracking the eggs into separate dishes, the yolks were identical in colour and left me a bit more than disappointed not only in the eggs but that I had strayed from my trusty Kingsland market and now had to make a second trip and spend more $$ in purchasing from my same old same old vendors whom I know and love. My impression of the Crossroads is that those people who enjoy the IDEA of buying from a "farmer's market" instead of from big box stores like Safeway, or buying "local" fruits and veggies (like mangos and chiquita bananas??) and care not about the pesticides or herbicides will truly enjoy the Crossroads experience. If you're interests lie in feeding yourself and your family whole, certified organic foods, though smaller and with less junky riff raff, Kingsland is definitely the place to go. Where vendors will openly admit and DO write, right on their labels when their produce has or was sprayed and is not truly organic. read more

There is a lot to see (like several indoor garage sales), lots of local food vendors and of course lots of healthy, fresh & organic buys grown by local Alberta farmers! This place is pretty interesting. Their vegetables are plentiful and are priced decent. They also have quite a few vendors that sell old unwanted stuff-its more like a garage sale. But there are places that sell new stuff. If your into the pagan movement there are a few places where you can get your incences, tools, etc. Crossroads also has a food court that has some decent meals. If your looking for speciality food items like cheeses or extremley hot sauces you will find them here. The parking will fill up fast but across the street one can park since there is lots of room. The businesses across the street appear to be mostly closed during the weekend so that would be the best time to park there but on Fridays I wouldnt recommend it. Overall I will come here on a regular basis. read more

Excellent market! My favorite part about the Crossroads is visiting Chongo's Produce Market. In the summer, Chongo's really expands in size but it is still very good during the winter months as well. It is also enjoyable to walk around and shop at the various vendors and boutiques throughout the building. I usually am sure to eat at one of the 16 or so places that serve food. Since I love to cook and live a one min drive from the market I get to go at least once a week. In the summer the entire market is open and you can shop produce from farms all over Alberta and BC. There is a cheese shop with hundreds of high quality cheeses of every kind and the vendor and their employees know about every cheese. Regina's sells fresh butchered meats for the meat eaters. Once you've had a steak from here you won't be able to see steak in the same light. A few other meat vendors offer the more rare meats including alligator, rabbit and frog legs. The bakery bakes fresh every day and has deserts for the sweet tooth in all of us. Simple Simon sells pies of all types. My favorite is the Swiss chicken and mushroom. They recently started doing soups and they are amazing and very flavorful. Plus you can taste most things to help find what you love. The food court offers a taste of the world and is very family friendly. The fish and chips place does a small fries from fresh cut potatoes that is still so big two people can't finish it. If you have extra time then check out the rest of the market and have some fun wandering through an eclectic collection of trinkets, antiques, clothes, books and too many other items to list. We have been going for years now and most of the vendors take the time to ask us about our life. We get a discount at some places for being a regular and some vendors will even bring in something special for us to try because they know what we like. The crossroads market is like a large family and you would be doing your body a big service by shopping there. Don't forget to bring cash because not all vendors accept debit. There are multiple ATM's around the market but they charge 2.50 to take out cash and when it's super busy they can be down. read more

Good place to buy fresh fruit and veggies. The Huderites have great food. The vendors is a little junkie looking however it has gotten better over the years. The German Haus is a must, free parking, and generally everyone is very friendly, and also if you like hot sauce, check out the hot sauce vendor!!
