The resort is very mountainous looking resort on the outside, in fact very inviting. This location is on the outskirts of the busy Canmore Town. With hiking trails to town or by the river. The staff very friendly and accommodating upon checkin. There is 2 levels of underground parking for guests. Upon arriving to our suite as we entered it was like entering a apartment full kitchen with counter seating for 4 and huge table, 2 bedrooms, 2 huge bathrooms, washer and dryer, living room with fireplace, a balcony with BBQ. Looking over the courtyard and pool. Considering how full this resort was with guests, it's very quiet inside the unit. There is a cafe connected to the resort called Black Dog Cafe. Note: stay away it's very over priced below par food with very slow service. Better off going to Tim Hortons down the road for half the price and fresh hot breakfast. There is a cute Deli called Bohemian smoked meat Czech Deli across the street highly recommend! Freshly made sandwiches and soups. In the Garden centre of all places is a Tea house with gourmet Japanese breakfast or Lunch made fresh everyday called Wagashi. This resort is very well situated amongst the mountains and away from town. Will be back in the future had a fantastic stay.

Full kitchen was very convenient for breakfast and some dinners, especially for the kids. Every room has a patio with a gas grill. Pool is small but it was nice. Hotel is clean and well maintained. I recently attended a wedding at the Nakoda Lodge. I couldn't believe how beautiful the location…read morewas. I have been past this area many times, but didn't realize that a large facility was there for events such as this. It's located east of Canmore and is only about an hour drive from downtown Calgary. The buffet dinner was really quite good, compared to some wedding buffets that I've been to! Some of the highlights were the grilled cedar plank salmon and the mediterranean fatoush salad (cucumber, red onion, olives, tomatoes, chick peas and thinly sliced hearts of Romaine in an olive oil and lemon vinaigrette). Where this experience stood apart was with the excellent service that we received. Someone was always around when we needed something, and immediately went above and beyond to make us happy. I was helping decorate the cake in between the ceremony and reception. We had forgotten to take the icing out of the fridge before the ceremony, and I thought we were going to be stuck trying to ice the cake with cold, stiff icing. Instead, the chef jumped in and helped us by heating it in his large industrial sized warmer. Crisis averted!! The staff for the remainder of the evening stopped by each table frequently to see if anything was needed. They did a great job. The room rates weren't cheap but they certainly weren't too outrageous either (~$170 plus tax per night). The rooms were clean and functional, although we didn't spend much time there with all of the wedding festivities that were going on. For guests wanting to save some money (or have a more unique experience), there were also tipis available. Many guests also brought trailers and just camped for the weekend. We had a great time, and I would look forward to attending another wedding at this venue.

The Good: :: it's a local business!…read more :: gorgeous views of the mountains, trees, nature in general...all from the comfort and coziness of your unit :: adults-only...this means no screeching of howler monkeys aka toddlers and kids under the age of 8. :D nothing on kids but when you want to get into nature and feel like you are able to be immersed to take in the grandeur, the less you can deal with distractions from the vibe bc of kids, the better :: wifi was solid and was easy for me to do work video calls, watch movies and stream shows, do email, etc :: you can see some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the porch or from your bed :: very comfortable mattress :: easy access to get help via text :: great big windows letting in a lot of fantastic natural light and also letting you see the night time skies from the warmth of your unit :: kitchen is very convenient! has 4 burners, an apartment-sized fridge (vs the crappy personal fridges you use in dorm rooms that do absolutely nothing), and sink. you have only a few utensils but if you needed more forks/spoons/knives/etc you can just reach out to the office and they will get you set up. also furnished with 1 big pan, 1 big pot, plates, cups, glasses. dish soap and sponge are provided. :: heated floors in the bathroom...so awesome! :: spacious standing shower :: welcome gift of keychain and local coffee with a note was very nice! :: 2 different eyemasks are provided :: crazy soft bathroom towels...loved them! also had bathrobes for use. :: bear spray you can borrow from the office to carry for safety during your hikes :: parking is free...1 spot per unit :: checkin was super easy...checkin using a digital lockpad :: comms were great start to finish! The Bad: :: my sheets were very rough, worn and bumpy. you could literally run your hands over the sheets and feel them. i didn't notice the first 2 nights because i wore pj pants but when i switched to sleeping shorts, i noticed immediately with my legs and confirmed with my hands. they really need to recycle/reuse older/worn sheets and ensure that all sheets are nice and soft for guests. :: it was hard to wash dishes in the one sink as there is not much counter space at all to hold food, drinks, and a dish drying rack. i had to put washed dishes into a big bowl and then dry them with a cloth when the bowl got full. also, the counter space available is not adjacent to the sink--it's sink then stove then counter space. :: the gas for the outdoor small fire pit is not free--it's currently $40 CAD per tank. it feels a bit nickel-and-dime. consider introducing a community set of fire pits that can be turned on and off by personnel that doesn't cost guests money. :: no condiments, spices, etc outside of a salt and pepper shaker. it's not an AirBnb or Vrbo so don't expect a fully stocked set of things for your use. get your necessities before you arrive because the nearest major grocery store is about 40 minutes away in Canmore! you're going to have to do a lot more meal and grocery planning in advance of arrival to avoid the 40 minute drive in and 40 minute drive back. :: no convenient place to eat meals except the couch. there is no table or chairs, and i used the folding table they provide to put my luggage on top of to get it out of the way. not a dealbreaker though...just keep your meals simple and easy to eat on the couch so you don't need any elaborate setup for dining! :: no snowshoes for guests to use :: no hot cocoa or smores for guests in a community form The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? 100% yes! This place is a fantastic idea and while they are still figuring some things out, being a new business and all, what they have established as the baseline is solid and just needs a little tweaking. This place is IN.

The staff at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. She gave us 2 tokens for welcoming drinks at the bar as well as bus passes to use while exploring the town. The lobby was so spacious, plenty of tables and couches to lounge on. We noticed that they also had bike rental and games to enjoy inside the lobby (old arcade video games and foos ball). The back patio area had a small pool and a small jacuzzi along with lounge chairs and 2 fire pits. Upon exploring, we found the coin operated guest laundry room and small fitness room in the basement area. The suite we booked was beyond cute. Felt like they brought a little of the outdoors into our stay. Only downside was that the sink was in the middle of the room but otherwise loved the design. In terms of food they have a small eating area where you can purchase frozen meals and self microwave them. They also have free coffee and tea and a water filling station. There is also a "food truck" that you can order various foods but the menu is limited. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We would definitely consider staying here again.

I guess I'm not Canadian, and I got used to it, but having a bit more wind protection on the exterior walkways would have been nice - or warmer robes.... Not an issue in summer and not a huge deal in winter but worth knowing. 2) Restaurant isn't great. Mid level chain place. Much better options in town. Staff great loved the spacious rooms and ski lockers.

We had a small kitchenette which allowed us to grab some English muffins, peanut butter, and cinnamon rolls from the nearby IGA and have breakfast in our room to get an early start on some of the hikes. They have a toaster and microwave and a small kitchen table for use. Our king sized bed and pillows were comfy. The room was dark and we could make our room cold enough for cozy sleeping. TVs were large but I have to say, we only turned them on once. Staff was super helpful. We wanted to eat at this one restaurant and were having trouble getting a reservation before 9pm and we asked for help at the front desk and they were able to get us a reservation for an hour earlier. Housekeeping was fabulous. They visited our room each day for fresh towels and making beds. I used the spa for a pedicure and Hailey did a great job. The spa also has its own hot tub in the 3rd floor patio. I sat out there as my toes dried. Very nice. I also went to the restaurant area and got a hot latte to go. No problem making one for me without having to sit in the restaurant. They have parking in a below ground ramp which was convenient. The hotels location was easy to walk to shops and restaurants. We really loved our stay here
