My friend, who has a medical condition and is on a fixed income, was in need of an air purifier and found one online posted by Joseph D Johnson "Danny Johnson" of JD Johnson Furniture Barn 325 W Statesville Ave Mooresville, NC who also owns JD Johnson Moving Co 335 W Statesville Ave Mooresville, NC. It's described as being in "good condition" and when my friend asked him if it worked well and had a clean filter, he confirmed. To help her out on February 8, my husband delivered payment and picked up the machine (with nowhere to test it). And, of course, it ended up not working at all. Danny Johnson promised my friend to return her money. But then it was nothing but excuses for weeks and now he has been ghosting her all month.

I will say this, we didn't have damage to our furniture most likely due to Nick wrapping our furniture like a mummy. While loading was slow and concerning, the experience improved greatly with the unload. In one day, they packed up the truck in NC and delivered it to VA the next day without any breakage or loss. The arguments got so heated one of the workers left the site. They dropped furniture, damaged walls and trim work in the house where they were packing up and damaged trim work in the house that they were delivering the furniture. Hellen (the owner I think) tried to maintain peace but had no impact. The arguments between the crew never stopped and slowed down the whole move requiring two days to move. Without asking the moving crew went into refridgerators and pantries to get food. Used the microwave to warm up food without asking. Made themselves comfortable in the kitchen to eat lunch and never cleaned up. Smoked on the back porch and left ashes everywhere. Used every single bathroom in the house and broke a toilet paper holder in one of the bathrooms. Several pieces of furniture were scraped up because of poor inexperienced handling (ussually by one person when two were necessary to move it). They scraped furniture over floors rather then picking them up causing damage to floors. They forced large upolstered furniture through door opennings rather than picking them up and angling them through the door. They used furniture pads that were old and dusty. They still have one piece of furniture that they are trying to repair. I have used movers over 15 times up and down the east coast and by far Byers is the worst movers I have ever encountered. I would not recommend using them for your move.

One told us he had only been working as a mover for two days. They also repeatedly said they were not provided the equipment needed to work efficiently -- only one dolly and no proper way to protect mirrors or TVs -- so several items were not moved at all. Since we were paying by the hour, I don't believe we should be responsible for extra time caused by the company failing to properly equip its crew. My wife and I ended up moving a large portion of our belongings ourselves just to keep things moving. Everything was already packed and ready to go, and even after picking up items from storage, the 26-foot truck was only about 3/4 full. Despite that, they estimated another 3.5 hours just to unload and initially quoted us around $1,800. They finished around 2:30 PM but attempted to record the finish time as 3:00 PM, which I had to dispute. I still paid about $1,300. The damage was even worse. My wife's brand-new entry table was broken after my heavy workbench was not properly secured in the truck and shifted during transit. Our brand-new mattress and box springs were left covered in dirt and stains because they were not wrapped or protected properly. Several dishes were also broken, and there was damage to the walls and stairs in our brand-new home. What should have made our move easier left us doing much of the work ourselves and spending the entire weekend finishing the move while caring for two toddlers. For the price we paid, I expected a trained, properly equipped crew that could move our belongings safely and efficiently. That is not what we received. I would not use All My Sons again and would not recommend them to friends or family.

They handled the furniture with utmost care. This two-man team was so quiet while carrying everything from the house into the truck then into my new home.
