Checked in around 2pm, then hit the spa! Our treatments weren't until 5 but we hit up the pool, saunas and other cool amenities. The hotel is super nice, staff is super duper friendly! Our package includes a 30 minute spa treatment plus 3 course dinner for 150 euro, which was pretty good. My scrub/massage was awesome, felt refreshed! Dinner was delicious! Rooms were very nice and the buffet breakfast the next morning was bomb! If you get a chance, take a walk around the grounds. Overall a great little get a way spot to relax and get pampered!

There is lots of land to roam around and explore including a huge golf course. The rooms are spacious and have lovely bathrooms with a shower and a bath. Free wifi in the rooms, a fridge, hairdryer etc and even robes and slippers! There's an indoor and outdoor pool with loungers with comfy pillows if you want to relax by the pool and read a book. There's also steam rooms of various temperatures, foot spas and nice showers. On a quiet day you can really lap up the peace and serenity, drink unlimited amounts of tea, coffee and juices and just relax. I had a Swedish back and shoulder massage from the Beauty Salon. It was amazing! They even have a hair salon! You really don't need to leave the hotel over your stay as there are plenty of options to eat. The Botanic restaurant or the Cellar Bar (or room service) have got plenty of choice on their menus. It all comes from the same kitchen anyway. I was so impressed with the buffet breakfast. So much to choose from! Probably the biggest buffet breakfast I have ever seen in a hotel. Fried, scrambled and boiled eggs to choose from! The staff are very helpful and friendly too. I couldn't have asked for more. I really enjoyed my stays here (3 times in 2 years) I recommend it highly and I know I'll go back again.

Most hotels offer shower only rooms after remodeling. Breakfast in the hotel was amazing; included fresh fruits and juices, the traditional Irish entrees or you could opt for pancakes. Every meal includes potatoes; good potatoes. Something special about this hotel is the lavender balm. I meant to request more before I left. You rub this on your wrists or neck before bed and it is supposed to relax you and promote better sleep. It smells so good.

I asked him are there any decent people left in Ireland and I was given a snigger as a reply. I'm quite disappointed that I was treated like this customer service and a small budget compassion needs to be addressed by Management. The afternoon ran into the evening and we made our way to the hotel's restaurant for a 3 course meal, included with our stay. The minute I laid eyes on the menu, I was in heaven. Too many choices and all good choices. I opted for the mushroom risotto, sea bass and lemon tart for dessert. Everything was so perfect from the vibe and ambiance of the restaurant to the service and most of all, THE FOOD. Everyone at the table got something different and there was not a complaint in the house. We left with full bellies and a bottle of wine. After dinner we strolled back into the bar where they had a live band. Our stay was perfect and relaxing which was exactly what we were looking for. The service was spot on, the food was even better and the location was great. Only an hour and a half from Dublin and about 2 km outside of Cavan city centre, you could not ask for a better hotel or a better location. I will certainly be back for another girls weekend!

And Bellingham Castle was the chosen venue and boy it exceeded all expectations. I even got to stay here for one night and they had such a pleasant hospitality. We ended up getting the "Kevin" room, which had a balcony view of the garden and patches of greenery that stretched as far as the eye could see. The place was really peaceful and my New York State of mind was completely gone, although temporarily. I really felt like a little kid when I went on to explore the different rooms in the castle. The furnishings and designs are things you would expect to see in films. My favorite rooms were probably the Bottlery (wine room) and The Buttery (the kitchen). Their castle dog, Ri, was super adorable and roamed around as if he owns the place. Some castles can feel intimidating but this place felt very intimate and homey. If only I could live there forever....

This is the kind of place that kind of typifies old world class, but still has a family, friendly atmosphere with the giggles of kids running through the trees. The breakfast is a buffet style, and there are different activities throughout the resort. The only one we checked out was the pool just due to our time constraints, and it was lovely, more on the pool below (note that a swim cap is required, they have them at the pool check-in desk to purchase). unfortunately, the outdoor hot tub was closed while we were there and speaking to other guests, it sounds like it's been closed for the past six months, but it's supposed to be up and running soon. Wheelchair accessibility: There are accessible parking spots, but not a ton, there were never any available when we were coming or going. There is an accessible entrance to the left of the main entrance that has a ramp, there are two sets of double doors that require some maneuvering to get through. Much of the resort is carpeted, but there are ramps everywhere. we stayed in an accessible room that was great and roomy, the only issue was the angle of the shower bench made it such that significant leg strength is required to be able to actually sit on the shower bench. Accessibility at the pool: the staff were super helpful and accommodating. There is a ramp to get down to the pool deck, and then stairs with a handrail to get down into the pool. I didn't see a pool lift on site. It also looked like there were stairs to come into the pool from the locker room and so I'm not sure if there would be an accessible entrance into the locker room, I didn't use the locker room since we had a room. The indoor hot tub was up some steps with a handrail as well, and there didn't seem to be a step free path to get over to the indoor hot tub area.

Breakfast was included with our room but it wasn't very impressive - some fried eggs gone cold on a buffet, limited healthy choices otherwise. Unfortunately, I had some bad luck when it came to my stay. When my plug adapter went missing, the hotel provided one. However, it didn't work. By the time I figured that out, it was too late at night to roll down to reception for another one so I just made do. A wedding at the event space meant that drunk partygoers were roaming the hotel grounds, singing and yelling, until the wee hours of the morning. Although I had booked a non-smoking room, and although I was thrilled that the window and balcony door could be opened to let in fresh air, my neighbor decided to smoke on his balcony (continuously) until 3 am. In a desperate attempt for sleep, I called the front desk. Once, the call rang without answer. And on the second try, they hung up on me. Great service and help, guys. I probably wouldn't stay here again.

The bar felt very much like a hotel bar (which actually makes sense, as the Bridge House is a hotel): bit too open plan, carpeted floor and old people everywhere, all round over-polished feel and a consequent lack of ambiance. There was even a guitar-toting duo singing lacklustre covers in one corner, which was blasted around the pub at irritating levels. We were the only people under forty in the place, but occasionally groups of young people would wander in and then leave almost immediately, as if they were looking for somewhere else. Curious to find where this surely close by spot was, and eager to get out of this chintzy heck-hole, we finished our drinks and left. Easily the least atmospheric place I was in on my short sojourn in the town. As we were leaving, though, there was already a queue of people outside the nightclub next door, and this was before eleven o'clock! We made a collective mental note to check it out later, and headed up the town.
